- Do you know what a monk’s life is? Having a background in the computer world, LP John Paramai was ordained as a Buddhist monk in 2008. His journey begins with finding his own happiness but has transformed into sharing his wisdom with many people worldwide. He teaches mindfulness and meditation by relating to modern lifestyles. He has traveled to 70 countries worldwide and taught people from all walks of life. This Monk's Life video explains his monastic life as he spent his life in a Buddhist temple in Thailand for his meditation retreat.

I'm very tired of being here in this materialistic world. I feel from within that buddhism can help me to get through this without judging,bias and discrimination. Whenever I see monk,I feel peace.

The thing about materialistic things is that they don't last forever. Even if you have money, you feel trapped. Money doesn't last forever. Some of us Buddhists say that you can't take money around with you when you die. That is why we donate, to decrease our greed and craving.
* I suggest you meditate or read sutta. You don't have to be Buddhist, tho. You can read those suttas just for entertainment.
What you seek is everlasting Life and peace which only One can give. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He is our Everlasting Father who always was and always is, and who came down from heaven in the form of a man. Born as a baby and then grew older, just like us, but He bore our sin on the cross and took the wrath of God for us. Taking that cross and thinking of us He died alone and afraid and forsaken for His love for us and He rose, defeating our sin and death. The blood that He spilt is the blood that washes away all sin. Confess Jesus as Lord and accept His sacrifice and follow after this True Savior who can give peace like no other. Once you find Jesus, who is always right next to you, you realize His Love is all that matters to you.

I feel more and more drawn to Buddhism on a daily basis. When I was younger (teens) I was angry, mostly at myself. Even when I entered my 20s I felt angry, still at myself. Now I begin to feel calmer and peaceful and with this sense of peace comes a desire to find more of it and guide others to it as well

-truth of life is profound than what we think,so teach yourself..
- Happiness is within.
Orange was just the easiest dye to make in the Buddhas time
Why do some monks wear red though? The ones that live around my area only wear red
Firstly the colour is not orange but saffron. And, it signifies or symbolizes renunciation.

Money and power, can never give you the fulfilment and happiness, that Buddhist meditation gives.
I sit alone to listen with this inspirational talk when I feel down and have some troubles in my mind, this is a way to help me feel better.
Here in Phuket between Rawai & Promthep Cape there a small Buddhist temple which I go to with my Thai daughter Panwasa, who is very dedicated to her father Buddha. There's a Monk who blesses people for bringing food & water and also speaks with those who desire advice, and we see him deep in meditation often. A very quiet place to go surrounded by nature, and during the 1st week in June a certain kind of trees flower and thousands or more butterflies hatch an take to the necture of the flowers, a wonderful sight to see!

Very informative video to know about monks life as well as Buddha teachings. In India, Buddha teachings are taught as Vipassana. One should work on these to attain peace & happiness in life.

@S RG this not honestly correct, Buddhism teaches "non self" Anatta, Hinduism teaches "Atman" or of a permanent self.
There are many similarities, but cant be confused with each other.

A lot of people don’t even know there’s a great tradition of monasticism in Christianity. Check out Thomas Merton. He wrote one of the top selling books in faith of all time (the seven storey mountain) and he hosted Buddhist monks along with being friends with the Dalai Lama. He was a Trappist monk. Beautiful tradition.
