  • TO and LDG at Roche Harbor WA. Tricky narrow runway but fun.
    The TAWS is squawking because the WA09 is not in the database. Wasn't going to bother with it until on the ground. I really was on the center line, camera angle makes it look off.

    Back in 1984 I flew an Aerostar as a freight airplane. To this day it’s my all time favorite light twin I ever flew.

    Nice job Eric.... I'm glad you are introducing the AeroStar to others. Clearly, you are a talented aviator.
    I’m surprised how tight she turns on the ground

    Nicely done. I’m an airline guy looking at Aerostars. Cool looking “pilots” plane. What’s the noise level like?

      Owned a 601P for 16yrs and my opinion is they are not the quietest piston twin but everything in that class is not quiet anyway....pressurized are a tiny bit quieter than non pressurized. I loved it - great aircraft to fly if you know what your doing and stay proficient.

      My 601P, at 75% power (about 26.5" manifold pressure, and 2,200 r.p.m.), and FL180, measures between 84 and 86 dBA at the pilot's ear level...it's about 3dB quieter in the back, and passengers in the middle and back rows can carry on a conversation without headsets if they like. I always wear a Bose A20 up front, but I could probably get away without one, if I didn't value my hearing over the long term. They're great airplanes. The only thing I dislike is that they won't fit in most t-hangars.

      yeah and don't be afraid of the airplane, just keep target speeds religiously that's all. Too many people carry to much extra speed on final and float halfway down. We had a 700P with the press upgrade and it was nice but very noisy. I think they are too expensive to maintain for what they are though, although you could do a lot worse like the Duke.

      Stacey Pittman - Nose Wheel Steering. Usually between seats near the pressurization system on older models.

      The switch on the pilots left is a elevator trim. It can also be trimmed on the console. The switch on the pilot right is a communication transmitt switch.the nose steering is on the center console. There is a small Go-Around switch on the outboard or left engine throttle lever which controls the autopilot to pitch up.
      You may ask we why I know, it’s because I built the from ground up , from first flight, through certification. Also I was a field service engineer traveling the globe.

      The Sandel TAWS database did not recognize the airport since it is private. Not sure if updating the DB would have solved the issue.

    Complitely foolish flap operation just after liftoff, allmost decended to treetops before gaining more airspeed.

    • @AerostarPilot
      @AerostarPilot  3 года назад +1

      Not really. This is leveling off just after takeoff and accelerating for a pull-up at the end. There was no sinking at all.
