My wife's 2010 Ford Edge (USA) has one. Just did the maintenance on her balky sunroof. Lithium grreae on the tracks and WD-40 on the mechs and seals after cleaning. Works just fine now.
Just bought a 2010 from my 94 year old neighbor. She drove it 4000 miles a year. Never open the sunroof. I bought it because it looks like a brand new vehicle brand new tires battery tuneup garage kept 61,000 miles. Took me a couple of bumps with the switch for the sunroof but it popped and opened never closed again. 4000 at the dealer 2000 best case scenario at a sunroof place not including seals motors whatever it may need. Her son has a Ford edge same problem plastic piece broke 3700 for his repair. Sorry but I’m not keeping it it’s a brand new vehicle but what’s the sense I’ve had sunroofs since 1973 that were electric never did they get jammed leak or anything. Plus Trans Ams iRock Camaro‘s Corvettes T tops. The only other Ford product I had was a Thunderbird super coupe bought from the dealer used. 60k same thing happened but was fixed with a blown fuse. I’ll never buy a Ford product again I’m 60 years old I must’ve had 20 cars new when use mostly GM. And Japanese. Only Ford did this to me . twice were Lincolns. For sale just so I can break even it’s a new vehicle other than the crappy sunroof designs. Too bad I can’t live without a sunroof my age. Funny they sell the plastic clips for $80 a set but I guess it’s too hard to install a clip so they sell you each channel $438 aside plus if you need rubber seals that are torn that’s probably another 4 to 600 if your motors week and there I think there might be two they got to be 5 to 700. Someone’s going to get a brand new car they can live without a sunroof
Hhi. Thanks so much for this video. Unfortunately I found it only when the little arm broke loose and now my sunroof wont close or open, its stuck partially open (of course during monsoon season). Do you know how to fix that little arm? I would really appreciate the help!

I would not use lithium grease I would use a synthetic grease that does not affect plastic or rubber. Such as the grease used to grease disc brake pins.
Nice vid. Have a 2011 MKX. I had some plastic clips near front of sunroof that came out of mine. They disintegrated and now sunroof won't close so I think it needs more than a cleaning/lube. Any idea how hard it is to replace the plastic guide clips?
The clips cannot be purchased and replaced by themselves. You have to replace both slide rails as an entire assembly unfortunately. You have to start by removing the entire head liner. Other videos can be found on this process.

I've removed both left & right shields from my sunroof and am having a heck of a time trying to reinstall them correctly. Have not been able to find any good oem parts illustrations, or ref videos of this part/location. Likewise I noticed from your video that your drivers side shield is missing but you have the pax side. If the photos are not doable can you perhaps provide an installation type source for this? Thanks much!!

@@jofalltrades1816 Thanks I am going to try this on my granddaughter's 2014 Ford Edge.When closing the sunroof stops at about 8 inches and we can't get it to completely close.We have tried recalibrating.
@@galerowe5257 good luck, the maintenance of both the track and the rubber is key. That meguiars vinyl and rubber is some of the best stuff Ive found to keep rubber conditioned and not dry outfrom the sun. Let me know how it goes!
Yes, it has the best temp range for up here, recommended by a friend who is a ford tech. Vinyl and rubber conditioner for the rubber seals to protect from UV and keep the grease from harming the seals as well.

those tracks do have rough cuts i work with them every day they can be very sharp. right on on the cleaning and maintenance good video

My 2014 apparently has a sunroof drain clog on passenger side. Can not even see the drain in the tray to work on clearing. Any experience with these?

Hi how long did you leave the vinyl cleaner on the rubber seal?
about 5 mins or so. It will also soak into the seal so it may not take that log depending on how dry the seal is.

Yes, tracks may be slightly different but the process is the same.
Your whole lub approach is a dirt magnet. Cleaning is OK. Lub with dry lube with Teflon.
