Machine is a Terex 82-30. If it is pre 1973 it will have a 6-71 (FA) or a 6-71T (FAT). Post 1973 it will have a 8V71T (GA). Bit hard to tell with this machine because of the muffled over cab exhaust fitted. Good to see a 'Green Meanie' in action.
actually the rack was untouched except for some battery acid, the truck jacknifed as it went off so the logs slid PAST the cab instead of THROUGH it...
Nothing wrong with how that truck was recovered. Last thing you want to do is release the brakes. If a cable snaps or comes off, that unit is gonna roll right back down to where they started. Not at all safe. Brakes being locked ain't gonna hinder the progress one bit.
The dozer is a Terex and it looks like it's a 82-30. The "bare-dry shipping weight" of the 82-30 is about 50,000 lbs (I could get the manuals out to see what it really is weight wise but there down at the shop). Terex's were made by GM (General Motors) but they no longer make the 82-30 and GM sold the Terex brand years ago.
Thanks for sharing a tough moment. Definitely a nice rig. Hope it was brought back to life as nice. Great Cat work -- Skilled operator. Please provide info on how the rig went in the brush? Anything to do with the tight switchback?
Looks like an expensive day happened here. I well imagine that truck back on the road soon after, with a huge repair bill to pay. Wonder if the owner did this, or a paid driver?
Poor ole girl :/ Hope no one lost their life/was injured on that ride. As an aside, my asshole always draws up when I see people standing that close to a cable under tension. scary stuff.
in fact it was the whole axle - it sheared the U-bolts. It was a real asspain to move because i forgot to have the catskinner pick it up for me. It took about as long for me to move the axle as it did to get the rest of the truck
the guy at the end in clean bluejeans and clean hoodie looks like a truck driver. and he has gloves to keep his hands soft for the lot lizards ha ha ha
Hope I am not being a pain, but I went through my annals and the 82-20 had a 6V71T. Has quadrajet viewed the TC-12 in action under the title 'The Jolly Green Giant'?. What a machine that is.
yah ok but maybe all his brakes (fondation brakes, jake and so on) broke or whatever, then he would have come way too fast and there he goes... or whatever
Should have brought in a loader. Or got in and released brakes n or take iut of gear. Dont want to bend the truck frame. Could pick it off the ground and drug it up easier. Maybe.
where's the front wheels gone? vanished? the gear box also gone. i think someone has stole it and brought to the nearest steel factory to be sell. haha

When you cruise youtube and find your old crew, you miss logging even more.....
That is one seriously tough bulldozer. Talk about torque balls!!

thats a beautiful Pete and it looks to be fairly new. I wonder what happend. Hope the drivers ok.

That and some generous editing. I would ask if this was secretly neil giving himself props except he'd call himself a catskinner.
Yeah, don't try to adjust the air brakes from standing on the step reaching through the window.

Love that old Terex!
5
Never heard of a 10 cylinder engine in a dozer like that, that one sure sounded like 6 cylinders..
bruce werner it's a 2 stroke that's why it sounds like that
Poor ole girl :/
Hope no one lost their life/was injured on that ride.

The dozer, terexs are heavy and petes are light (once the logs are off that is)
on newer trailers the brakes lock when the air is diconnected
Well that and the several violations we would have been issued for operating with saturated soil conditions. I did mention this is CA right?
love the sound of screamin detroits got a couple skidders that work in our area that are old detroits love that sound
where did this happen at? and how did this happen? i mean the road is dry and the road looks wider than most woods roads, unbelieveable
wow. it was a nice pete. see thats why I drive dry vans. kudos to log haulers!
Were the brakes locked on the trailer on the way up from the wreck?
stuff like that happens all the time, it is the nature of the beast
poor ol pete looked like a sweet truck, was it yours?
in fact it was the whole axle - it sheared the U-bolts. It was a real asspain to move because i forgot to have the catskinner pick it up for me. It took about as long for me to move the axle as it did to get the rest of the truck
Hope the driver was fine
the guy at the end in clean bluejeans and clean hoodie looks like a truck driver. and he has gloves to keep his hands soft for the lot lizards ha ha ha
That's why you should never text and drive especially driving a logging truck😎
heh, another day at work,i lost track of how many logging trucks i've picked up and set back on the road,at least it wasn't a thousand feet down !
Looks like Jeff Bradshaw,("RUclips's""Elderly Iron: This Old Truck",
Author/Host on the sidelines!!
tryn to straightn the road out was he?
hate to see a good logging truck go like that
I used to drive chip truck in the woods. 80'000 lbs and muddy roads, yehaa!
I stand corrected. Would like to see your 82-30E in action.
so how did it get down there..
Great operator wll done
givin that ole dresser a fit
So was the guy drunk or stoned?
@TugOwar трос был размотан всего на несколько метров, даже если бы он лопнул, люди стояли достаточно далеко и не пострадали бы
Hehe, they think about the insurance company now, bad nerves !
@Multimentalisti what makes you think drinking had anything to do with it?
che spettacolo....complimenti
I would definatly say thata a DD 2 stroker. Maybe a 4-71 or something.
AT LEAST THE WHEELS ARE POLISHED!!!
That looks like a Terex 82-20B
@tdblues sounds like lyrics to a good ol country tune ha ha. Nothing but the truth man!
Hope I am not being a pain, but I went through my annals and the 82-20 had a 6V71T. Has quadrajet viewed the TC-12 in action under the title 'The Jolly Green Giant'?. What a machine that is.
good thing the ground was dry, otherwise they would've been pulling the dozer and the truck up the hill :)
+tracks which provide alot of traction and low gears
What kind of dolly is that?
Thats what i was say...its a detroit in that dozer...nice sound!
stillenma it wasnt just the tires missing the front wheels were missing
Is the truck reuuseable
thats a nice bulldozer =D
Did he keep his job ????
+slimchancetoo He was an independant operator
IC. Well I bet he wishes he had not done it.
Unfortunately the winch is in the back...
Terex dozer with a Detroit 2 stroke engine? rare if ever there was a production model.
All terex had detroits in them.
Tractor verde pequeño pero muy potente!
no its not... that can be buffed out in no time
really dose not look like that bad of a recovery job bose was thinking i just got new tires for that truck lol
santa cruz county CA, and the driver's fine, he wasn't in the truck.
good ol bullys. will do anything
did you guys stop for a break and top up the oil in the terex? burnt like 5 gallons by the looks off it haha
HOLY SMACK THAT DOZER RULEZ.......
yah ok but maybe all his brakes (fondation brakes, jake and so on) broke or whatever, then he would have come way too fast and there he goes... or whatever
este trator tem uma força monstruosa
too bad. it looks fairly new..ouch!!!
So I said to myself why dont they start it up and release the park brake until I saw that the front axle was missing. LOL
Sorry bout the truck!
I'm no expert; but, I'd say that wagon was f*cked !
i wonder what part of the ride did the driver think..OHH SHIT!!!!!!
karma...in its best form!
IT IS A WINCH!!! LOL
how you figure?
This a wood, removal trees to the industries !
How unfortunate .. damn nice Lookin log truck! Put er background together and get some logs! :)
poor pete
is the truck thats towing have a w 12 diesel ?
Give the truck some slack, let some cable out, then it wont be trying to lift the front end of the truck off the ground.
should have attached the rope at the most rear axle.... simple physics...
Wheelie! :)
Sure, rescue a truck with a bulldozer. Let's see you do it with a hand winch and a roll of scotch tape. Just kidding. Awesome video.
kalau di tempat ku, di panggil keretapilar menarik lori balak..
Slightly used Peterbuilt log truck for sale.
Man, machine !
that suckz aslong as the driver was ok,, thats all that matters
Only one thing ....if it was his lorry ...out ...never aloud in a wood agen... or if he was a driver ... P45...😠 hi from ireland ...😉
huston i found the problem
you lost your wheels and thats why you went off the road
lol
@Emzieroy I guess he didnt do it on purpose......
must be an lcl driver gone to drive logging trucks in the states,
they need a d10
that ill buff out
how can the truck go down luckyly it is not a road train
what the heck happened
that was expensive...
It could've been that driver's first day on the job.
Can u say.......... OOPS!
my father is a trucker
I bet he wishes he hadn't done it !!!!!!!!

I have triple deep 3/4 socket so i can cage the chambers with my cordless impact. that would have helped in this case.
