I am pretty amazed to see Mike Bezos tell his story. Because mine is pretty damn close. I also left Cuba at 14. When I saw his passport on a video about his life it was MY passport. just rough paper and cardboard. ALthough he lived in Santiago de Cuba and I lived in Habana. our stories seem identical . My parents pulled me out of school when the communists began their brain washing. so I was home hidden until I received the "permit " to leave the island.
Mine was a long trip. I had to live inSpainfor 13 months before I receive my USA visa. And I received my visa because I ( in my infantile world) wrote to Bobby Kennedy and asked for a Visa. YEap Robert F Kennedy BROUGHT ME TO THE USA! and I still have the letters ( and my Cuban passport)
I have not done as well as Mr,. Bezos Sr. BUT I have done very well. The USA was so good for both of us, perhaps Cubans get lucky in the USA. In Congress and Senate ther have been 14 Cuban Americans more than any nationality with the exceptions of natural USA born citizens. Cubans turned a dreary collapsing MIami and turned it into the CAPITAL of latin American business. Many people think of MIami & Cuban American as it was depicted in ScarFace (Al Pacino) but it is not so. Most of the skyscrapers in Miami have a Cuban behind them. I ask myself how advanced would Cuba have been without communism.
For the Country that invented the concept of CONDOMINIUM with the most advanced family building of the time (The Focsa) and a country that had regular train transportation before the USA. I "think" Cuba would have been AWESOME.

mickavellian My parents were also from Cuba and came via Spain to the USA in the 60s. They were always so grateful for the USA and taught me lots about love of honest hard work, education, family, my Catholic Faith, and love for the USA. My father and all of my Cuban relatives in Miami really achieved the American dream. I got a full scholarship to a prestigious college in NYC and now I am a Professor, one of the few anti-Marxist, ProUSA, Serious Catholic, pro-western civilization in academia today. I thank my Cuban parents for the great guidance and love they gave me and values I received. I can also say with Bezos that “ I couldn’t have done it without my Cuban Father.” And had Castro never taken Cuba it would have been a very nice and advanced country, so unlike the utter destruction, backwardness and misery that Communism-Socialism has produced. God please convert Cuba and free her in the name of your beloved Son Jesus. Amen. ❤️😊🙏✝️

Cuban Father. Not “Latino”. Cubans have their own heritage and history and suffering under a Marxist Socialist dictatorship of Castro’s that others have not experienced in Latin America.
