In this video i'm going to be giving you my review of the Sony Zeiss 55mm f1.8 prime lens. I've used this lens a ton with my Sony A7 III and I must say, it is definitely one of my favorite prime lenses. It's small, light and extremely sharp. The footage/b roll and pictures I capture with this lens always ends up being my favorite. It also has a very wide aperture at f1.8 so it's a great lens to use in low light. And the bokeh at f1.8 looks incredible. So if you are a portrait shooter, you'll love this lens. The size and weight of the lens makes it very ideal for use on a gimbal. It's a very light lens so it's not going to add a lot of weight to your setup. Overall, I think the Sony Zeiss 55mm f1.8 is a great prime lens for the Sony A7 III or any Sony camera. So if you are in the market for a great prime lens, i'd definitely consider picking this one up!

How do you feel about this compared to the Sony 50mm 1.4 planar?
have you looked into that lens at all, I heard it has some issues with autofocus
It’s an undeniably sharp. I think it is a better lens for photography. But from what I’ve seen it’s not completely silent when autofocusing and can sometimes be slower to focus. It’s also a MUCH heavier lens. So for video and the kind of work I do I’d go for the 55mm for sure.
