I'm true blue Singaporean, divorced with no kid, approaching 60, semi retired, and financially well. If I, this generation, already feel the heat today, i cannot imagine how my grand nephews and nieces would feel. I'm true blue Singaporean, divorced with no kid, approaching 60, semi retired, and financially well. If I'm blessed, I'd live for another 15-20 years then I'll be gone, so whatever policies that PAP going to implement will not effect me much. However, the only people I truly pity are my nephews and nieces and ESPECIALLY their little children. I won't be around by the time my little grand nephews & nieces grow up into working adults. I cannot imagine how stressful it is for them, having to live their lives squeezing with 10m or more other people who are mostly foreigners, on this tiny island. If I, this generation, already feel the heat today, i cannot imagine how my grand nephews and nieces would feel. It will be a furnace for them,with ever rising taxes and rising costs to pay, smaller and smaller but more and more expensive flats, competitive working salaries, sardine-can like commuting, global warming due to more concrete than natural forests, etc.
Whatever decisions we make today has the greatest impact not on ourselves, but on our descendants.

If you are rich enough and can't stand overcrowded just migrate, sadly most of the ordinary Singaporean can't and has to withstand all these issues. Introduction of foreigners to our country is needed but Pap has been too aggressive in the policy. I think is time to vote a new government and not pap to continue the regime.
sporean are not ready for a new government yet especially the elderly who have grown up with PAP but they failed to realise the PAP team of 1965 is very different from 2024. what will be a good start perhaps is to have 30 opposition MP in the parliament so each of them need to handle only 2 PAP instead of the current 8.

more people = more $$$$$ to be generated for income taxes, cpf contribution etc. On the flipside it would mean more demand than supply for any goods or services leading to increase in prices and generating even more $$$$ company tax and gst $$$$ revenue. This is the very definition of Profits Above People principle. Otherwise how can SG with no resources generate $$$ for your health care subsidy, vouchers, aircon bus, mrt etc?

I served my nation and completed my reservist cycle with dedication, if a war breaks out I will put myself forward to protect my country, my people. But now I barely recognize the Singapore I swore to protect anymore, let alone continue increasing population to 8-10 million. It will no longer be the native authentic SG liao. Just plain disappointment so sad.

hmm, very true, is getting cramped, people are getting emotionally triggered over small issues, trains are always overloading, TFR is getting lower in every year's forecast but blocks of flats keep sprouting preparing for the next hike in population. Getting employed is a hard question, staying employed becomes a problem. As I have heard , even in every trade, there are singaporeans willing to work , but not preferred when you cannot commit Sat and Suns. And the explanation was Singaporeans are choosing jobs. In all trades , corporate, engineering, etc, we are all being branded not in a good way, but there are good ones who actually accepts pay cuts, no bonus and others. Our population is not getting stronger anymore, hope more people can see for themselves. I dont really hope to be alive to see what is going to happen in the next 20 years . Just sharing my 2 cents worth.

No one can stop that from happening, in 2000 our population are 4.03m and 2024 6.04m, a 2 million increase in less than 25 year. Follow this logic, before 2050 our population should cross the 8m mark, good thing is a lot of us probably wont see this happen but your child/grandchild would be the one suffering because of the decision u made today. Btw, land size of SG in 2000 was 682 sqkm and 2024 stand at 735 sqkm.
To project for 8-10m population, there must be a lot more jobs created. How to project so many more jobs to be created? Does SG Govt really think it can attract so many MNC and FDI to create so many jobs? With the various countries competing for investments and jobs and now with BEPS 2.0 making it difficult for Singapore to use tax incentive to attract MNC, is it still possible to attract so many jobs? or maybe the projected increase in population due to immigration is just to replace jobs vacated by retiring and ageing Singaporean who are not reproducing?

Increase population increase $ . Singapore go by head count ,etc GST. But for local there no benefit. A simple issue public transport. 6 million every day peak hour cant have any seat.
