In the one room, if any of your companions dies they will be in that room. And if you haven't prepared enough, The Viper will die and you can see his hat laying on the body. Also if you don't do some of your companions' quest it changes some things in the fight. The ones I have seen the consequences for is Emmrich and Neve's.
