Part of the meta of being on stage is knowing what translates well to the viewer. The light blue detail on the white shirt is probably very pretty up close but it gets very washed out under the stage lights on camera. Nick’s gone with a very meta pick, a dark-colored hoodie stands out against most backgrounds. I think the counterpick would be a high-contrast look, you’ve got the right idea with the “teapot” shirt but it could use a little more definition.
I’m so glad that someone likes Bonuswolfe can give such a small influencer like Wolfey some much needed attention and giving his world champ diff analysis
23:39 The better "forbidden" play Wolfe is referencing is (I believe) to use Knock Off on his own Urshifu to remove the choice scarf and therefore outspeed the ogerpon and opposing urshifu under Trick Room.
BonusWolfe brings a kind of beautiful scatterbrain ramble energy that you just can't replicate in the more scripted and edited wideos. Very easy to just wibe to
I actually notice this quality in many poketubers… it’s like a barely-contained, life-long fanaticism mixed with ADHD (possibly medicated) channeled at a rapid pace. They cover so many points in a short amount of time, and yet could talk for hours… it goes to show the depth and interconnectivity of their understanding of the game. Wolfe is an amazing mind- I love to witness the way he thinks about the game.
at 23:50 i think the other play he was talking about was using knock off with incineroar on his urshifu to get rid of the choice scarf to underspeed nick's ogerpon in trick room.
I was thinking he would do that so he could use Surging Strikes to take out Farigiraf and then he has access to Aqua Jet in trick room so the speed tiers wouldn't matter.
i know the full edited videos are better for some (most) audiences but having a video like this early, while the tournament is still at least kind of relevant, is cool
So, apparently he does have aphantasia, which is to say, he can’t imagine images. He can’t form a mental picture. my thought for the play at 23:00 was flare blitz urshify and surging strikes also urshifu, if they protect from the flare blitz the surging strikes still hit them
i think its either that or flare blitz farigiraf surging strikes urshifu. i assume knock off doesnt kill since it already at its berry. you potentially lose incin from that but you realistically dont lose urshifu and then you beat their ogerpon in trick room with yours
I thought maybe Wolfe knew his Urshifu was slower without the scarf, so he could knock off his own urshifu and then surging strikes the opposing urshifu safely, regardless of protect coming out or not. I think that qualifies as a “sick” play lol Edit: oh he mentioned it later, dang it haha

In g1, when there was the 3 turns of tr, you could've gone for surging on farigiraf and flare blitz into Shifu. Next turn, knock off your scarf so you move before his Ogerpon and u-turn on it. His wood hammer kills your ogerpon and shifu reenters the field, clicking surging strikes and knocking out his Ogerpon right?
Has there been a Pittsburgh video in the works or no? Just curious if we'll get your analysis on your second place win since I know those videos take time.
How is it that in the 1st game, Wolfey's Farigiraf was able move before Nicholas' Farigiraf (using Hyper Voice before Trick Room got set up), then the following turn still go first under Trick Room (using Hyper Voice before Nicholas' Dazzling Gleam)? Just a bit confused on how Wolfey's Farigiraf, compared to Nicholas' Farigiraf, was able to move first before & after Trick Room got set up. If anyone has an explanation that would be much appreciated!
Trick room has negative priority, kinda like the opposite of quick attack. That means it's always going to go last regardless of speed stats. Nicholas' Farigiraf went last because it was setting up TR. Once TR was up, they were both using attacking moves (0 priority) which then reveal the actual speed order of the mons. Wolfey's farigiraf is slower than Nick's so it went first under TR. Hope that helps. I highly recommend the Bulbapedia page on priority if you haven't already seen it.
