Why would you ship a feature the day before a holiday. That in my opinion is the biggest mistake of this whole issue you described.

1. The sprint ended that day, so we had not reason to move that around
2. For B2B products, the day before a holiday is actually not a bad time since usage is lower during the holidays
3. Everything is 20/20 in hindsight
