Love them more for video than the S52. If they come out with a competitive S1H2 then I’m Lumix for life. If not I’m going to cheat with Nikon. I love what they’ve been doing and the Z62 looks amazing for my needs. I agree that Lumix better wake the f*ck up. Great video!

You are REALLY missing out not giving Panasonic a go. I am a Sony shooter (RX100 III and RX100 VII, Sony A9, A7RIII but sold it) and I got a S5IIx this year and it’s the best thing ever. The colors are amazing, the menu is a breeze, the camera keeps going forever with the built-in fan - I live in Greece, it’s very hot here during the summer - and overall for the price you cannot get more camera for your money. Built in LUTS, the new app is really good, open gate, SSD recording, I can keep going for days on how good this camera is. Again, you are REALLY missing out man…
@ I love you man but now you are being ultra biased. Yes, the AF is now good after two firmware updates. Very very usable. Not Sony level but very good. In every other area the camera pretty much excels for it’s price. Anyway, I hope you happen to come across one with the newest update and give it a go again. Happy New Year, all the best!
@@PadPoet I own 4 systems, how can I be biased? lol... Panasonic doesn't offer anything interesting to me, or I'd own one. They only offer A7C II specs.
They upped the specs and just as with a full frame camera that increases the size. Like the OM1 ii is just so much more camera than the lightweight R8. It's not just the sensor size that determines the size of the body. You can still buy small if that's what you need. Most people will have a little and large combo.
Speaking of color, to my eye the original GH5 had the most neutral and natural color science (and noise pattern) of all the cameras I've used. The S5II is quite good too, though. Pro tip: don't use their iDynamic feature, it messes up the colors and makes your video look like an iPhone :)
Panasonic much better colors than Sony. Panasonic ... better stabilization than most. Sony ZV-E1 ...use it in a hot climate and it will melt like chocolate left outside on a 100F day. Having said that, if you need slo mo, yeah maybe not a good choice. Let's also consider that Gerald Undone likes the Panasonic S5 ii. Is he a Dummy? Asking for a friend? Incidentally, love this channel and watch all the vids, but it doesn't mean that I agree with everything. The PC upgrade video the other day was beyond hysterical. I commend the bravery on showing that one.
Casey was rocking a G85 in Thailand. He got me to buy a G85 and I love it. Bought several other LUMIX cameras after that, including the S9. I’m focused on learning the skills to leverage all the great stuff in these cameras. Thanks Casey!
Give me an actual m43 camera with phase detect, small size and decent specs and I’ll be happy as a clam. Add a top tier full frame and they can take the rest of the market. Let’s go pany boi nerds!
@@NewCompVisuals I don't see the GH line getting much smaller. The GH bodies are actually quite comfortable to use with long telephoto lenses. But there are other cameras that should be small. We need a GX10, and maybe a G95 successor.
"European Mafia" ha ha! Last year, they tied the lids of plastic bottles to the bottle so that they could not be thrown away separately. This, combined with their ban on plastic straws, makes drinking from the bottle a struggle! USB-C will not be the last coup.
90% of his content is just 4k 24, yet Panasonic is shit because it doesn't have high frame rate stuff. It's sad because I tune in to see the different color science and different lens stuff, 3D pop and all that.
I still only have my g85, best camera and camcorder of 2016. Very few if any cameras offered unlimited 4k 30 and ibis at that time or a couple years after. As a dad videographer having unlimited recording for Christmas, school events… was critical. I have mine set up with external mic and usb battery pack. The autofocus is a little painful at times, but still serves me well. The g97 looks to be a huge disappointment, where’s the 4k 120 or even 60? Did they just slap a g97 sticker on some left over g85s from 8 years ago?
The G97 is a minor update to the G95(2019) which was an update of the G85(2016). While I would have liked to see a full upgrade of the g95, I hope they are doing this minor upgrade of the G95 in order to put more resources into a full upgrade of the GX9 which could be a very hot seller in 2025 if done right.
100% on point. I was an early Pansonic user starting with the GH2, and stayed with them longer than I should have in hopes of improvements. In some ways they did me a favor as they led me to Nikon which led me to wildlife which led me to medium format which led me to selling large prints and letting go of caring about video specs so much. I still want the same as you though. Ultimate wildlife slow motion and street video. It's always been my passion in terms of video. It's the same reason I am not in medium format. Seeing things that the eye cannot normally see whether through insane detail or slowing things down is what makes photography fun to me.
Thanks for the video. I have been looking for my first full-frame camera for some time now. To be honest, the Lumix S5ii looks quite good to me, and it's because I'm limited when it comes to money. So if you had to choose one full-frame camera for the same or similar price that is better than the Lumix S5ii, which one would you take? I need a camera for everything: photos, videos, and general use.
I find Panasonic color even match for Canon with vlog, I've been working with S1 from the day one and it still fits my workflow. Had an S5 mark1 and it wasn't a good fit - why would I have same sensor and different battery set, huh? I've been waiting for S1 mark II for months now, and I was considering switching to Canon, but I won't pay $2k just to get access to CFexpress type B slot (c80 vs c400). And their battery pricing is crazy - I could have zve10 with lens and some accessories just in the price of two BP60's. You mentioned full frame DGO, hell, it is a dream beyond my imagination. I would love to get S1 mark II to be same old thing, just with minor fixes - recording over USB C port and CFexpress slot. I would also love to see Panasonic EVA successor with L-Mount and maybe just a bit less plastic body. That's all, you can't really F that up, Panasonic.
@@Cam-u1v It's slightly slower but works for talking head video and stills. That's with a 28mm 1.8, 40mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4 and 300mm 2.8. I still use a lumix lens for fast action. My Tamron 45mm EF does not work reliably
You get a lot for your money with Panny. Trouble is for a jobbing videographer, you have to use whatever your clients use, which in my world is Sony 90% / Canon 8% and Arri 2%. Usually pairing up with a ENG camera; FX6, C300. So no one wants to be messing with yet another camera look and lens mount system.
No doubt, your RUclips videos are entertaining and honest. As it’s the last day of 2024, can you tell me what is your favorite camera system with best auto focus and truest colors for stills and video out of the camera or it doesn’t exist?
I'm a Panasonic Fanboy but Arri Log is just a tone curve marketing ploy. It is NOT Arri colour science. That would be awesome. The Panasonic vLog profile is just as good as the Arri log profile that it's a waste of money to just buy tonal S Curve. You are still using Panasonic colour science because it's baked into the camera. What I really love about Panasonic is the user menus. For me it's easy to navigate. I got my hands on a Sony a7riii and struggled to find a way to change the bit rates and frame rates.
@@frankinblackpool thank you! That is what I said, anyone who got excited about that doesn’t understand what log is…or is someone trying to use a Panasonic as a crash cam on a set with Arris.
It's a Panasonic thing, they keep re-releasing their ten year old cameras without any meaningful upgrade and at a higher price tag. If they updated their fz or tz series, that would make some nice compact cameras but I'm affraid they're gonna just re-release them with their old specs sometime in the future, then they'll pet their own back. Those 1" models are very good in my opinion but they suck at videos. Now they should have enough processing power (compared to many years ago) to sort those out and make some powerful compact camera with great video features. I don't wanna see more future pana cameras with 4K 30P with a crop, when actioncams and smartphones can do 6K60P, 4K120P or even 8K nowdays. Those old pana cameras had some nice optics, it's a shame because with new processors they could do miracles.
It's so subjective... I really liked the Sony colors, also the Cinetone. That Fuji did not look good to me. Way too contrasty. Canon is good but it's RAW. So you're processing it anyway you want. It's not really a fair comparison to compare RAW with 10bit 4:2:2 I feel. You are processing it anyway you want, or not for all that lift. I don' know... I'm sticking to my Sony for as long as possible.
I'm really curious how the Fuji xs-10 or even better, the xs-20 would do for street video. Plus, they would probably be good for vlogging and you're just the guy to show us. Since you've already invested so much in Fuji...again, might as well spend just a little more for possibly an amazing setup.
Melvin, now that Intel have developed their drivers, you should go with Arc A770 with Davinci, and Intel 12700k or 13700k then you will have quicksync hardware which will make your timeline smooth and your rendering will be great especially in AV1. Your amd cpu is already making hard work for your gpu without quicksync. Keep your 7900xt and just replace motherboard with z790 128gb ddr4 and 13700k and you will be flying.
I enjoy daily a Panasonic NV-GS1, GS500, a VX-1, a Sony CCD-TRV780E ( my TRV705E released its magic smoke 😥it looked better than the 780E ), a DCR-SX43E ( it sucks, it really truly sucks, but it's funny to use ) and a Nikon Coolpix s6200 😊Panasonic GS500 and VX-1 would be my favourites. Ihave been watching you for quite a while now and I'm sure you'd roast me so hard if you saw this comment 😂cameras are such a magical thing, lifechanging in all the good ways. Please keep enjoying them for us too and sharing your beautiful experiences, all the love from Europe.
I went with the Panasonic s5ii. Good focus. Great stabilization. Can't argue with the image. Wish the s5ii with the Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 were a lighter combination. A camera I can grow into. I'm mostly just sad about the lens choices. There are great L mount lenses, but I wish I had the choice (variety and price) I often see with Sony E mount lenses.
Panasonic is the new Pentax. Almost every move they make is backwards. We want a TINY m43 camera again. We want no camera with DFD ever again. We want updated S series cameras more frequently than every 6 years. We want preamps without crickets. I honestly think they're about to give up along with those weird OM people.
I really want a E-M1X at the current price ! Paired with a 40-150 F2.8 pro…. Or am I an idiot ? Pls help. I have a Fooj X-H1 should I just get the 50-140 F2.8 for that body ?
@jacquesnel8384 I've never used it but for mft it's probably as good as you can get for your use. Built like a tank as well for the environment you're in. I've always wanted one. Of course the new mft cameras will have better AF but they will also be 2-3 times the price. You'll prob get slightly better images from a used canon 1dx or Nikon d5 but still way more expensive systems with giant zooms.
I think Leica should cut Panny Boy's lunch and pump out their own version of the S9 with a viewfinder, a hotshoe and more rounded corners. They could charge 3x the money for it
I shoot mostly Canon, but I bought a Lumix G5 simply to give M4/3 a trial run. I'm happy with it because I know what it is and why I own it. Your problem with Panasonic is you're trying to find perfect in an industry built on compromise.
I find it clear that many don't use Lumix cameras as it takes a photographer with talent that knows what they are doing. So many jump from using their phone as a camera to a Canon or Nikon. Those cameras are just emotionless auto cameras that don't allow for a photographer apply their artistic talents. In a world of cheap copies individuals stand out and dance to their own beat.
You should mention that the jello/motion judder in all cameras needs to disappear 🫠 Global shutter... Exposes the entire sensor array at once, and then reads out the entire frame. This mode is used to capture high-speed moving objects without motion blur. Rolling shutter... Exposes different lines of the sensor array at different times. This mode is used to capture still images or slow-moving objects. Rolling shutter cameras are more sensitive and cheaper to manufacture but for applications like capturing slow-moving objects, such as agricultural tractors or waddling ducks across the rd Is the Nikon Z6 III a better camera than the Sony Alphas?
At this point, panny needs to drop mega features in order to catch up.. I mean, features that would make the Z9 cry. 8k60 raw at a minimum. and big out of the box thinking... just let us do crazy shit like, for example, 2.5k at 300fps in any codec possible... like independent sliders for resolution/fps/codec/compression-level... there's SO MANY cool things these cameras are all capable of that nobody is giving us. oh, and let us zoom in like crazy in digital zoom and let us record it...why the fuck not, let's have fun here.
Panasonic Leica glasses are very good, it's so nice to use them for filming, specially when you can use linear manual focusing (I'm still using GH5s on gimbal). The GH7 is my next move for sure, but it would be nice to finally gave full frame without crop in 4k 60, I own S5, it produces really good looking videos but even S5II X has stupid crop in 4k 60, I've tried to use 16mm Sigma lens to have 24mm equivalent, but I really dislike using Sigma, it's awful lens, and cropped picture looks meh...
I would not get my hopes up with Panny boy. I'm an S5IIx owner and its a fine camera for what it is, but I too hope for fhd 480 no crop. One day maybe, but not soon enough. I disagree with modern Panny colors. They are good and I like them.
agree 100% on g97. disagree on s5ii and g9ii - both great cameras (I don't need slow motion). I agree a small m43 body (like gx7) with phase detection and proper 4k is needed. Still g9ii with a tiny prime from olympus (12/17/45mm) is small and light vs full frame
Only Panasonic and Black Magic are the two camera companies that give you all they can for the money. Canon is the worst. Obviously Sony expensive but capable. Fuji is somewhere in the middle.
Panasonic has good color i don't know what you are talking about... That's about it though.... Thought about the s1r when it came out(i don't shoot video). That camera just plain feels great in the hands. Lens selection is limited and pricey but I'm sure they are great lenses. I'm so sick of editing skin tones in Sony that I'm selling my Sony FF gear. All i shoot is people, weddings, etc. Many times i don't have time to set custom wb and have to rely on auto. It will be nice to do minimal edits when i need to raise exposure and don't get crazy shit going on in the shadow gradation areas. Can't get out of Sony soon enough. I love literally everything else about their cameras though.
Problem is that the very specific hardware that you are describing draws in a very niche group of profesional videographers.. That's a small group. This means that with those specs they would have to do what Nvidia have done with the high end of graphics cards. That Panasonic body would cost like 4-5k. They need to make back that sort of rnd and with a small profesional customer base it needs to cost. That is fine but Panasonic is more of a "avarage user" kind of company. They are trying (and failing with their s9) to capture the small, compact camera vlog market. They want to make the "high end" Canon G7X. I think they are trying to find the "least effort" way to reach that much larger market.
I stuck with the GH6 and class it as my movie/docu cam - it took over from my HVR-Z1E though I’m still a sucka for those old eng/skater cams. I find the colours on the GH6 better than anything else but maybe I have bad eyes :D I love it, but I also love manual focus on everything. The GH7 colours are not as nice I find. Have to see what the GH8 drops. 4k 900fps I’m on it :D
Panasonic cameras are great hybrid cameras. I am not going to use the ZV-E1 for serious photography. Full frame cameras will have a hard time beating the video performance of that 12mp sensor with a 24mp sensor while remaining affordable. Panasonic MFT cameras can offer better high-speed video because the readout of the smaller sensor is faster. The readout of my Sony A7RIV is terrible, and the video performance is horrible.
Ok. If your wanting good color science, get an Olympus OM-1 II. Yes. 4k 60p. Were just waiting for the firmware update to get 4k 120p. But like I said, for color science. Olympus OM-1 II and canon are the best in the business

@@cameraconspiracies I see, ok. Have a lovely Happy New Year's eve! Happy 2025!
What happened to small M43 Lumix?? Everything is as big a full frame camera
tech hardware is not smaller more functions is a bigger camera.
Let’s go pany boi nerds!
gh8 hope they make it smaller and cheaper!
Keasy.... Panasonic is so awesome. I tried my way so many times into other systems, always regretted and switched back. The G9II is just awesome.
That is why they released this cameras with only usb-c,so they have time to work on S1, S1H, R1H upgrades.
The G97 exists just so that they can keep selling the camera in the EU. That's it.
...yeh, but he can't make a 15 minute rant video about that! :)
I also like the ergonomics of Panny boy. But I understand we ignore all of that when something like Nikon looks so good.
How do you keep track of all your data? Pulling up old stuff?
Memory.
@@cameraconspiracies”Memories… you’re talking about memories..”
How is the new computer upgrade working for you?
The xh2s was used for the rest of the end of the clip? Looks the best colours for you...
Thanks god, now I can hear you with french dub. This is so much funnier than before.
Italian for the win. 😂
I need this, how do I do it? :D
@@yawningmarmot You have the little gear on the video to change video definition and other settings. There you can change the language of the video.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention!!!
05:11 this "I don't know why" is very funny :D
I bought a S5iiX to do videos but found myself buying a bunch of EF lenses for it because the AF-C works when using the Sigma MC-21 adapter
Is the speed the same as Lumix or sigma lenses? I have a S5IIX as well and am seeing some affordable lenses on marketplace.
@@Cam-u1v It's slightly slower but works for talking head video and stills. That's with a 28mm 1.8, 40mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4 and 300mm 2.8. I still use a lumix lens for fast action. My Tamron 45mm EF does not work reliably
Is your t-shirt yellow or orange?
You get a lot for your money with Panny. Trouble is for a jobbing videographer, you have to use whatever your clients use, which in my world is Sony 90% / Canon 8% and Arri 2%. Usually pairing up with a ENG camera; FX6, C300. So no one wants to be messing with yet another camera look and lens mount system.
But the 9mm lens is so light it offsets a lot of the weight of the G9 II when vlogging.
I appreciate you throwing your Panny viewers this bone.
Even if the bone was thrown under the bus! :)
Here's what Panasonic can do, to make enthusiastic beginners happy:
- USB-C
- L-Mount
- full frame
- built-in image stabilization
- Higher than 25 MP resolution Images
- 4K 60 FPS Videos
- Acceptable battery life
It's a Panasonic thing, they keep re-releasing their ten year old cameras without any meaningful upgrade and at a higher price tag. Those old pana cameras had some nice optics, it's a shame because with new processors they could do miracles.
you'll be pony-boi fan and carnivore in no time
It's so subjective...
Happy with my s5iix for corporate/wedding. Ibis is the best. Coming from sigma fp, bmpcc og. Colors are just as good imo
Got a used S5IIx for 1300 euros a year ago. Best money spent on camera gear. You get a lot for your money with this camera.
happy new year 🎉
I'm really curious how the Fuji xs-10 or even better, the xs-20 would do for street video. Plus, they would probably be good for vlogging and you're just the guy to show us.
Since you've already invested so much in Fuji...again, might as well spend just a little more for possibly an amazing setup.
Terribly. The XH2s is unusable.
Keep your 7900xt and just replace motherboard with z790 128gb ddr4 and 13700k and you will be flying.
kc, whata the best settings right now for my DJI pocket 3 to shoot the Sydney fireworks with I need a answer before 12 bra ha😂😮
The Lumix' quality is much better than its reputation here.
Sony: Panasonic = The Empire: The Rebel Alliance
I've been asking them about an S1H Mk2 or and EVA-2 for two years. Just no answer. They say stuff like "If we were working on it we couldn't tell you"
Hey Casey, when are you going to upgrade to a GH7?
You spelled downgrade while crying wrong.
Pick one already ! Happy New Year.
The g85 lag when recording to computer. Anyone have a fix?
I went with the Panasonic s5ii. Good focus. Great stabilization. Can't argue with the image. Wish the s5ii with the Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 were a lighter combination. A camera I can grow into. I'm mostly just sad about the lens choices. There are great L mount lenses, but I wish I had the choice (variety and price) I often see with Sony E mount lenses.
If an S1Hii is released it will likely be a full frame GH7… though I’m not sure on the sensor. That might be too much tech for Panasonic to pull off.
When a Panny fan sends you an S9 you can shoot with for one day and throw away, maybe you can throw it this way❤ lol
Panasonic is so close to cracking the formula imo, this could be their year
Panasonic is the new Pentax. Almost every move they make is backwards. We want a TINY m43 camera again. We want no camera with DFD ever again. We want updated S series cameras more frequently than every 6 years. We want preamps without crickets. I honestly think they're about to give up along with those weird OM people.
😂😂😂 they missed the action cam market. Now they are stuck making these expensive cameras.
I really want a E-M1X at the current price ! Paired with a 40-150 F2.8 pro…. Or am I an idiot ? Pls help. I have a Fooj X-H1 should I just get the 50-140 F2.8 for that body ?
I’m still shooting with the X-T3 but I want the M5 for vlogging.
What is the intended use?
@ I shoot Offroad motorcycle racing. I believe the M1X has great tracking for fast moving cars and bikes?
@@jacquesnel8384 I loved my X-H1 as far as video was concerned but it was bulky and I switched to Fuji for a smaller system.
Why do you own so many camera systems? You literally just sit in your living room or walk around town doing slow mo vids.
This is honestly the funniest comment I’ve seen on this channel and it gave me a good laugh. I’m not sure if you realized that when you typed it.
The name of the channel......... Ai is getting out of hand
I think Leica should cut Panny Boy's lunch and pump out their own version of the S9 with a viewfinder, a hotshoe and more rounded corners. They could charge 3x the money for it
Panasonic should just release a S9 Pro model with a viewfinder, etc.
I shoot mostly Canon, but I bought a Lumix G5 simply to give M4/3 a trial run. I'm happy with it because I know what it is and why I own it. Your problem with Panasonic is you're trying to find perfect in an industry built on compromise.
The next global shutter camera might be Panasonic. Then it could be worth the buy
S1H ii with global shutter , 6k 30p, 4k 120p and pdaf its over
I find it clear that many don't use Lumix cameras as it takes a photographer with talent that knows what they are doing. So many jump from using their phone as a camera to a Canon or Nikon. Those cameras are just emotionless auto cameras that don't allow for a photographer apply their artistic talents. In a world of cheap copies individuals stand out and dance to their own beat.
please that music in background..... that melody is from hell
You should mention that the jello/motion judder in all cameras needs to disappear 🫠
Global shutter... Exposes the entire sensor array at once, and then reads out the entire frame. This mode is used to capture high-speed moving objects without motion blur.
Rolling shutter... Exposes different lines of the sensor array at different times. This mode is used to capture still images or slow-moving objects.
Rolling shutter cameras are more sensitive and cheaper to manufacture but for applications like capturing slow-moving objects, such as agricultural tractors or waddling ducks across the rd
Is the Nikon Z6 III a better camera than the Sony Alphas?
Inside the Lumix 50mm Tony1.8 is the same as the Leica 50mmTony2. Some Pop there...
Tell Panny to put hindsight/pre-rec into their cameras.
honestly, for you, the S9 would work well.
Seems like the kind of video that gets you on a government watchlist. Meanwhile shooting means pictures lol
G85 for life!
agree 100% on g97. disagree on s5ii and g9ii - both great cameras (I don't need slow motion). I agree a small m43 body (like gx7) with phase detection and proper 4k is needed. Still g9ii with a tiny prime from olympus (12/17/45mm) is small and light vs full frame
The 2 latest Panasonic releases are an insult to the brand.
Only Panasonic and Black Magic are the two camera companies that give you all they can for the money. Canon is the worst. Obviously Sony expensive but capable. Fuji is somewhere in the middle.
Oh damn, you vegan! Newfound respect ✊ 🌱… vegetable police subscribed 💚
Fah-Kew Trawno Boy! Pannies Rock 🤟😎
Jarred did this with Nikon but he is not even close to being as cool and funny as you are!
I can't stand Jarred
The G97 wasn't a "new release"... it was just a refresh of the G95 to be compliant with EU standards
panasonic can make good products but certainly not a good decision lol.
WHERE TF IS THE GX SERIES RAHHHH?!?!?! 🦖🦖🦖
GH6 owner here - i agree w gh6 colors. Its a great image not over sharp either
What’s the deal with all the references to licking, wearing skirts? You should have known better, LOL 😆
S1H2..hurry up panny..
Bung hai buk sun happy new year buk sun lucky time wishes!
