Hi Divas, you could use watermelon food dye. So, what you do is chop the watermelon. Then, cook it on the stove. Then, toss it in the blender and blend it until it turns into puree. After that, strain the puree. You could use a lot more than red 40, because it is natural and you could make however much or little you would like. Don't add too much or else your batter would be too runny. You could use it for not only red velvet, also you could use it for watermelon and other red cakes.
