Absolutely. Just hearing someone say "I hope you live" was enough to floor me. Every time I hear this song it reminds me that, for the time being, living is better than not.
This song fell out of my feed for some months until lI started to hunger for it. Then I searched on the "If we are infinite" lyiric and BAM! Here we are. His voice makes me cry. And FYI. We are infinite.
The tears that fall when you finally realize what the title of the song means and represents. Strangers don’t give up. No matter how hard it gets we need you. Especially if this is all there is
Hello, everyone. If you want to see the whole set including more songs from the self-titled album as well as some new songs, check it out here: vier.live/act/blackshape-the-masonic-temple. For some reason VEVO cut off the “live” portion of the video title. But yes, this is a live version of IX and ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL that we captured back in June of this year. Thanks for watching/caring/listening. IHYL.

The fact that this is a live, off the floor recording, is blowing my mind. There is something so cathartic and raw about this song, but this live version is just so *crushingly* good. Fellas, this is an absolute masterpiece, and I am so happy that the YT "Al Gore Rhythm" brought it into my life.
I love me some instrumental postrock, so don't get me wrong... But please, for the love of god, write some more songs with vocals. That guy's voice is literally one of the best voices I've ever heard. Simply breathtaking.
It is so true. I daily come back to minute 6... I am absolutely impressed by the singers voice, so.. yes... i would love to here more of this band with vocals. thx for this masterpiece. hugs from germany
I agree, it's a voice that haunts you. This video gives me similar feelings to when I listen to Thrice - Daedalus. I hope if you don't know it yet, that you can enjoy them now.
Fighting so hard for so many years of doing my best to stay alive from battling not wanting to live anymore. Thank you, I hope you live too. Thank you for the encouragement and strength.
Reading through the comments, this is what music is supposed to do, it pulls and pushes. I see so many people hurting, who don’t know what comes next. It’s spaces like this that you create with music that can push someone out of their current state in search of something more substantial. I love all of you, and I hope you all live the best you can, despite the setbacks you’ve had in life, we can still live.
Was going through depression for the first time in my life when I heard this for the first time last year. It really helped like a lot of people said, the lyrics and tone of this song is like nothing else I've heard before its so surreal and beautiful. It just showed up on my for you page one day before work and couldn't forget about it all day, thank you for creating something that's already helped a lot of people.

Once heard, I avoided this song for months. I pressed play on this live version, and I remembered why: those lyrics, with their timing inside the song, will always be like a punch that caresses my thoughts. F**k.
I'm a woman in my fifties, always been a rock/metal fan and I've listened to thousands of songs in my life but this one is for some reason MY song, it represents me and my personality so well. It's a song from the end of the world, and maybe I've been living my entire life waiting for the end of the world, dunno. I know I sound terribly depressed and depressive but I'm not, I'm just sensitive I promise 😊 Love you guys ❤
I put this video on while I sorted through some laundry, just because the name was funny and I was intrigued. When that guy started singing I literally stopped what I was doing, actually stunned. Went over and stood by the tv to soak in the rest of the track. Good fucking god. I don’t think I’ve ever felt such a strong connection to a song on the first listen.
I’m listening to this at the right time and in the right headspace. These 9 minutes will carry me through until I’m completely healed… You guys are amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate the live version more than the studio version. His vocals are so much more full of raw emotion and meaning and presence. Not to say the studio version isn’t a masterpiece. There’s just higher levels on the vocals in the live version, and it pierces the heart. This is the most profound rock song I’ve ever heard. I feel like the genre of alternative rock, Post rock, experimental rock, needs to stop what they’re doing and take note. I’ll Never be the same after hearing this. Thank you.
So interesting that they start with that heavy intro, that just cuts out almost abruptly - as if they wanted you to know that they can go heavy, as if they were telling you, this is what they are suppressing to give you the beauty that follows. Gotta love post-rock.
Although I may be in a current state of mind where the thought has crossed my mind today, that I dont want to be alive right now, I can still see that there's a glimmer of hope, in that this life of mine is worth living. There is hope in living long enough to witness a new day begin again. Even through these present moments of depressive thoughts, and this constant dwelling on all of my recent mistakes & horrible decisions made, and despite every negative sensation I may be experiencing physically in some way and in the now, I am keeping this little hope thats left inside, in the fact that these moments and the situation I find myself in, it will eventually pass. All these things will fade, and if not entirely forever, then at least to the point that I regain my joy in living life and have newfound strength to carry on in peace. So, with that, I want to say to you that might be reading this, and even more so to those reading and can relate very deeply since you yourself may be going through similar moments right now, I just want you to know that we'll make it through this, and that I wholeheartedly mean it when I say.....I Hope You Live. Love you.
These moments of our lives, both incredible and painful, often come out of nowhere. So just for that it's worth seeing what a new day will present to us.
The lyrics reflect a deep, almost existential sentiment. They suggest two contrasting perspectives about life: 1. If life is finite: If there’s nothing beyond this life-no afterlife or continuation-then the emphasis is on making the most of our existence here. The phrase "I hope you live" underscores the importance of truly experiencing life, embracing joy, love, and purpose while it lasts. 2. If life is infinite: Even if life or existence continues endlessly in some form, the message remains the same: truly living, not just existing, is what matters. It emphasizes the importance of fully engaging with life, regardless of its limits or eternity. This duality reflects an invitation to be present, to seek meaning and fulfillment in each moment. The repetition of "I hope you live" stresses the profound wish for the person addressed to thrive, find purpose, and embrace their existence no matter the broader metaphysical framework.
Scott, the vocalist and guitarist, confirmed on the music video that the stuido version is his vocals. He's much softer in the original, it's quite impressive.
I'm a man, so I always have to hold it together, I can never cry no matter what. Ever. When I hear a song like this, it gives me a chance to cry about real shit in my life, but behind the mask of "its a sad song".

" I Hope you live " that's such a powerful line. Got me through some tough times.. and still does. That performance makes it even more powerful. Thanks guys

Having known these guys for a long time, I can say that their music is phenomenal, but that they are even better people. This album, especially this song, helped get me through a tough time mentally and I’ll forever be grateful to BLACKSHAPE🖤
I was driving through mountains yesterday and this song came on one of my older playlist. It was such a profound experience that I had to play it twice! The algorithm clearly knows me and today this live version showed up in my feed. The guitars tone is heavenly and I had never expected that is a guy singing, you have such a gorgeous voice, full of emotion and flavor
Damn. It's 4am and I'm trying to go numb with YT brain rot so I can not think about how badly I want to disappear. And then this stops my freefall with such power and grace. ✨
You guys deserve the world. You have no idea the impact this song has had on my life for the last 6 months, this new (to me) 3 minutes that is not in the music video is amazing
I really loved this song when I first found the music video and as usual, was afraid that the album would not live up to it. But now this performance left me craving XI right after. On the album those two feel so well-connected. Love the album. Will definitely buy the new album as soon as I can.
This song is the epitome of magnificence; an epic journey from the ethereal start to its climactic end. Thank you guys for blessing my ears, and making the world a more pleasant place.
Not gonna lie, I like this version more than the album one, I dont know it just hits way harder than it already did. Beautiful job Blackshape and everyone on the crew for this live video.
Postmetal No. 5 (a little bit of) A little bit of Cult of Luna in my life A little bit of Nerosis by my side A little bit of Year of no Light is what i need A little bit of Isis is what I see A little bit or Blackshape in the ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL etc Happy times!!! Love the song/video
This is my first time hearing this band and I'm glad I came across this specific song. Not to sound corny but I really needed it I've struggled with depression for 6yrs now. It's the pressure of knowing I have a hereditary disease, its made me question whether I should be here or not. The lyrics kinda hurt in a beautiful way its comforting
I hope you live. But not just for your sake, everyone around you whether you know it or not are blessed to have you in their lives in every aspect, the world is a different place with you in it, no matter the weight of the sufferings or the sharing of those miseries. Continue so you can heal and heal the world in fighting suffering

BLACKSHAPE OMG, I'LL comment now I mean REALLY This is an AMAZING band The drummer.... Wow And this whole song..... You almost don't even need lyrics Such an amazing song....I just wanted to say I don't know how I came across it, but I did.....I mean.... REALLY what a beautiful piece of art.... For the whole band. The drummer REALLY put his heart into this song...... I'm not a drummer person...... But...I can hear that drummer and the lyrics at the end.... Just a wonderful song to listen too.....I love ROCK
You guys are nuts, i honestly believe making more songs with your vocals would get some major traction. please please give it a go you guys could go so far. Big love

The lyrics reflect a deep, almost existential sentiment. They suggest two contrasting perspectives about life:

Having known these guys for a long time, I can say that their music is phenomenal, but that they are even better people. This album, especially this song, helped get me through a tough time mentally and I’ll forever be grateful to BLACKSHAPE🖤
Love you, buddy

You are absolutely amazing! Please let this unique voice fill the overwhelming soundscapes you're creating! Post Rock at it's best! Chapeau!
Out of nowhere, a masterpiece!
God if only I could have listened live I could die happy
You guys deserve the world. You have no idea the impact this song has had on my life for the last 6 months, this new (to me) 3 minutes that is not in the music video is amazing
Thank God for Music Like this.
I thanked God and I don’t even believe in them.
Perfect. I'm looping. You've stopped me in this marix once again. Thank you.
I love the fact that yall are given us a live ver even after a year tysm 🖤
So powerful. Keep coming back to this track. This version beats the studio recording in every single way. Goosebumps for days.
Not gonna lie, I like this version more than the album one, I dont know it just hits way harder than it already did. Beautiful job Blackshape and everyone on the crew for this live video.
Postmetal No. 5 (a little bit of)
A little bit of Cult of Luna in my life
A little bit of Nerosis by my side
A little bit of Year of no Light is what i need
A little bit of Isis is what I see
A little bit or Blackshape in the ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL
etc
Happy times!!!
Love the song/video
This is my first time hearing this band and I'm glad I came across this specific song. Not to sound corny but I really needed it
I've struggled with depression for 6yrs now. It's the pressure of knowing I have a hereditary disease, its made me question whether I should be here or not.
The lyrics kinda hurt in a beautiful way its comforting
I'm glad you're still here
I hope you live. But not just for your sake, everyone around you whether you know it or not are blessed to have you in their lives in every aspect, the world is a different place with you in it, no matter the weight of the sufferings or the sharing of those miseries. Continue so you can heal and heal the world in fighting suffering
Gotta be the coolest auditorium setting Ive ever seen. Nice mood lighting and whatever the hell the northern lights hole thing is in the ceiling... Awesome
It's the Masonic Temple. It symbolizes the firmament, the dome. Masons are always about symbolism.
BLACKSHAPE
OMG, I'LL comment now
I mean REALLY
This is an AMAZING band
The drummer.... Wow
And this whole song..... You almost don't even need lyrics
Such an amazing song....I just wanted to say
I don't know how I came across it, but I did.....I mean.... REALLY what a beautiful piece of art.... For the whole band. The drummer REALLY put his heart into this song...... I'm not a drummer person...... But...I can hear that drummer and the lyrics at the end.... Just a wonderful song to listen too.....I love ROCK
Followed, favourited, added to all playlists, hyper fixated on back catalogue, love all of them, love everything about them weeeee!
God damn, I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a band for a long time. I listen to this every night before I sleep, a true musical achievement
You guys are nuts, i honestly believe making more songs with your vocals would get some major traction. please please give it a go you guys could go so far. Big love
Masterpiece.
Omg, that's a one word for this band
This song
They have blown my mind with sing
clearly one of most emotional songs of all time. What a masterpiece. When I first saw the music video I was at the beginning of a divorce, and this song brings so much tears and thoughts to me...but it also helped me a lot to get over it by get rid of all the inner pain you have in such situations. Thank you guys for that. ❤
Listening to this is so cathartic, been loving the entire self-titled too, but goddamn this track makes me emotional. IHYL echoed in my mind a lot today and brought some comfort. This has to be the best song RUclips has recommended to me out of the blue.
Thank you, algorithm. But now I’m crying.
I hope you SING so much more in the near future. Killer vox. Incredible band all around. Thank you for sharing your gift. ❤
i hope there will be more vocals on the next album. i really love this band but the vocals are something else!
RIGHT?? What a breath of fresh air.
Not to shit on others, but this guy vocals are what 99% (100% to me) of prog rock vocalists wish/think they sound like!
This song is stunning! So powerful and beautiful, it makes me cry everytime. It touches my soul and gives me the hope to keep fighting, to keep living. Thank you BLACKSHAPE 🖤❤
One of the most powerful songs I've ever listened to. I'm in tears ever time I listen to it...
This song absolutely exhausts me emotionally every single time I listen to it
I hope you know how many lives you changed and saved with this song. This is what music should do.
This is a masterpiece, it's amazing guys!!! We are sharing the stage in Kortrijk (Belgium) in august. Can't wait!
