    Volleyball is such a dificult game. You think that you can play, then you try to play a match and it turns out, tt you cant spike, block, keep touching the net. Very precise game and difficult to get proper timing.

      michael yeh, in volleyball, theres not much room for error, every touch, effects the outcome. Unlike soccer or basketball.

    I’ve always thought I was the best of the best in middle school but when I got into highschool people are a lot more advanced, in 3rd grade it was all about 1 hit, just get it over the net and nobody really taught me transitioning till last year in 8th grade. I was so confused and everyone thought I was an idiot and that I should’ve known and it took me awhile to get the hang of it and because I’m so tall and have long arms people wanted me to be a left hitter and a middle hitter, and I still can’t get my timing and or snapping down. I’ll get there haha

      Francisco V I know this was two years ago but what if the setters sets a pipe which is reallyyyyt high if you do the approach and jump the ball will still be in the air

    • @illuminaticonfirmer2604
      @illuminaticonfirmer2604 6 лет назад +1

      The setter should get to know each player's hitting style, or know your setter's setting style then time it that way. It's good to get a few reps in before a game with each setter to know what to look for. If worst comes to worst just hit in on the ground.

    • @timc3639
      @timc3639 6 лет назад

      the first step is the key to adjust your direction to the attack. Depending on your position (M, OH, Opp) and what the play options are (great pass = faster offense- pipe, shoot set, 3-1 or 5-1) vs option 2- not great pass = typical high outside set, 5-2 and 9-3 for opp). The setter(s) and hitters need to know each other and have this all dialed in. A simple verbal cue (YES... GO, or play sequence ... 1, 2...3) will make sure that the setter and hitters are all on the same page.
      Re your specific question- if the setter sets a pipe which is really really high, then he or she screwed up and another player needs to cover and just pass the ball over the net to keep it in play. communication!!

    Can someone please explain to me what he means when he says "Don't stop until you hit the ball" when he is going through the approach. What if I'm a little early or something?

    • @yamipatino10
      @yamipatino10 7 лет назад +7

      DuskGlade what he means is when you make contact with the ball don't just stop there, hitting the ball
      , follow through the ball and hit it the ball completely, and the whole point is not to be early bc u can't get a good hit unless your on time
      my advice is wait till the person setting the ball has made contact with the ball, once they touch it that is your sign to begin your approach.
      hope this helps you.

    • @invictuz4803
      @invictuz4803 5 лет назад

      @@yamipatino10 No I think he means, once you begin your first step of your three step approach, don't slow down or pause during the approach. To avoid being early, I think you have to get used to estimating how high the ball is gonna reach in order to time your first step of the three step approach. But once you plant that left foot (first step), don't lose your acceleration.

      +VolleyballBoy123 I'm 5'11, 15, and I'm an Opposite/Middle (surprisingly, I play middle more often). People often think being shorter is a disadvantage because you can't get as steep an angle with your hits, or because blocks are more intimidating but there are strategies you can use to get around these. I think most players can definitely get around height disadvantages with speed plays. I, for one, love hitting back row pipes and D attacks. As a middle, I use slide jumps more often than regular attacks. Once you learn how to hit, volleyball becomes more of a mental game than a physical one in my opinion.
