The interesting thing is, Jane used to do that for a living.
Well, not THAT, but pretend he could communicate with dead people. And you know he had to be good at the con, since he wasn't exactly wearing an earpiece to communicate with said "dead" person.
Anyway. I just though it was interesting. You have to wonder if Jane would've felt weird doing that after not doing it for....what, seven, eight years?
Then again, Jane never seems to feel 'weird' about anything so probably not.
Well he's always making little performances during investigations, that's who he is, an actor, a performer, a liar, a trickster, a mentalist
The reason he stopped doing that is because Red John killed his wife over it. Doing this kind of thing is traumatic for Jane, so I doubt he enjoyed it.
He also had a TV show doing this at one point.

There was a note on the door to his room that read "Dear mister Jane, I do not like to be slandered in the media, especially by a dirty money grubbing fraud. If you were a real psychic, instead of a dishonest worm, you wouldn't need to open this door to see what I've done to your lovely wife and child."
