I remember somewhere maybe in 91 or 92 I was at a pretty dark point in my life. I have a very good friend who was famous for listening to a lot of excessively depressive music. I was at his place and he pulls out this cassette with four rather grim looking dudes on the cover. I was thinking to myself "oh screw, here we go again". Then I heard this song, this riff and I was sold. Now 32 years later I'm still a huge fan, I identify myself as a musician with Savatage more than with any other band. It had a huge role in me and my friends starting our own band and it's pretty telling that many people, critics, journalists and others say that Savatage is our biggest influence.
thats sick what is your band called
@@CH1CK3NBUL13T Voices of Silence
If you want to understand the genius of Criss guitar playing and the nightmarish of John's voice you must listen to the song ''Hounds'' from the ''Gutter Ballet'' album!
Savatage and Vicious Rumors, Streets Tour 1991 at the legendary Rockfabrik in Ludwigsburg, Germany: that's always the first thing that comes to mind as soon as I put the Streets record on the turntable, what a magical night that was!
Thank you Vin & Sori & DJ Mojo \m/
Savatage - When The Crowd ia gone
Savatage - The Edge of thorns
These guys are from a few miles up the road from where I grew up, and I was at the festival that Criss was on his way home from when he died. . . the impact these 2 guys had on theatrical metal will never be matched. . . especially considering the fact that they spawned TSO.
Gutter ballet is my favorite album from this band. This guitar player was amazing. It's a shame he was not as widely recognized as I fell he should have been. I don't consider anything after Edge of thorns a true Savatage record.
I think I still like The Wake of Magellan best. There is something to be said about the rawness of these earlier records, but I don't think Magellan is over produced either.
* Choir Intro :
Seid uns zum zweiten Mal willkommen, ihr Männer, in Sarastros Reich
Er schickt, was man euch abgenommen, die Flöte und die Glöckchen euch
Translation From German :
Welcome for the second time, you men, to the Sarastros Empire.
It sends you, what one denied you, the flute and the bells.
* The choir intro is an excerpt from Mozart's "THE MAGIC FLUTE"
, "SEID UNS ZUM ZWEITEN MAL WILLKOMMEN" and is sung by a children's "Cherubic Choir"
Cherubic Choir
Children singing, giving an encouraging and positive feel to the scene. The choir is usually dominated by boy sopranos.
A Cherubic Choir normally means that the good guys are in the middle of triumphing, though sometimes it just indicates we're done with the tense part.
It can also imply a sort of divine endorsement of what's happening. Often a Theme Music Power-Up.
Sometimes it's Ominous Latin Chanting without the Ominous part ; just put it in a major key instead of a minor.
Cherubic Choirs tend to be in something other than the native language, possible as a kind of musical lorem ipsum
(i.e. deliberately unintelligible to keep your focus on the sound, not on the words) and of course in keeping with the Rule of Cool.

Contrast Creepy Children Singing, where creepy songs and nursery rhymes are played in the background to add tension and fear to a scene.
RAISE THE FIST OF THE METAL CHILD!! RAGE ON SAVALEGION!!!
Young children still pure spiritually so they can see what grown-ups can't see
Geweldige band 😀
Savatage is also Trans Siberian Orchastra
Did you two ever finish that song you started?
