  • Keep your actuator well greased up - use it every 10 days or so, regardless - even if you never leave the tarmac !!
    If you are stuck in 4 wheel drive - you cannot select 2 wheel drive you probably have a failing 4WD disengage solenoid, or a stuck actuator - the default setting for these select transmissions, is generally 4 wheel drive - so any failings will result in you being unable to use 2 wheel drive.
    Keeping this small part in tip-top condition is simple - lets see.
    If you have issues, go back and watch our "Are you stuck in 4x4 mode ? cannot select 2 wheel drive ? this could be the issue" episode (link ... • Are you stuck in 4x4 m... ) the valve 4x4 Disengage (or Disconnect) Solenoid 4WD vacuum actuator is a simple diagnose watch and see.
    We show you on our Mitsubishi L200, how to check, what to look for and how to solve the problem.
    Our videos help you find the content you need, without endless searching - Igniti0n points you in the right direction, with brief snippets that will not detract from you viewing the full video from the real contributor - we are here to promote them, not ruin your enjoyment.
    We will also drop in the occasional "off piste" video recommendation if one tickles us as we troll through the endless stream of content - or just banter between ourselves :)
    If looking for a new car, electric car, motorbike or ICE car - we can help find the most informative and interesting reviews on youtube.
    In our workshop section: we will also give you tips and practical advice on maintaining your pride and joy ! we test tools and various products to save you time and money - again helping you select the right tool, fluid, oil and much much more.

      Too kind :) - any Red Rubber Grease will do the job ( used in the automotive industry in hydraulic and braking systems to protect & lubricate rubber bushes, seals and o-rings. It is also a good choice for use on brake caliper rebuild jobs. This grease compound is designed to preserve rubber and help prevent it deteriorating and cracking over time ) no idea why red is there, other than they seem to all be coloured red ?

    Some greases will degrade rubber, especially as need to pack this boot....tricky to find a good all round grease that will lube and not eat away at rubber boots.............

      I have used ZX1 products for 25 years + ( not so much now, due to the import aggro and monster costs in Portugal - run out, bar a tiny bit of grease) if you can get some at a reasonable cost, it is really good gear www.team-zx1.com/micro-%c2%b5-zx1-supergrease.html

      No worries, you should be able to get it easily (its still not cheap stuff) - when I decided to jack it all in, we narrowed our new life to Cardiff ( I love it - don't take this the wrong way, people laughed because we holidayed in Newport a few times ( mainly Welsh people to be honest😂)) Cork in Ireland and here in Portugal - the sun won, its a pain for a stupid Englishman trying to learn the lingo, but I am in a t-shirt and shorts 😎 makes it all worthwhile !

    Is this the same problem as when the CD lock light flash?

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 года назад

      We cannot answer that, sorry - if you have a problem, then vehicle year dependant, will be electronic (so codes need to be read) - also depends on what you are doing at the time - my Panda, if we are on loose dirt etc, flashes the diff lock to tell me its working / engaging - but not during a trip to the shops etc. Our L200 does not had a center diff and engagement is all manual.

      Is the actuator moving and actually engaging 4wd? If not then it’s most likely time for a new actuator.
      Let us know if you solve the issue.
      Best of luck!

    What happens if my actuator is stuck how do I free it up

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  6 месяцев назад

      It’s best to give it a soak in penetrating fluid and try to move it with some soft grip pliers. You don’t want to mark/damage the rod.
      If that doesn’t work I think it’s best to replace it with a new.
      Ps if it does come free, make sure to grease it after 👍
      Thanks for the comment 👍

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 года назад

      More than likely its the actuator Andy - if it was the solenoid, you could not select 2WD - have a read of ..... 4wheeldriveguide.com/why-your-four-wheel-drive-wont-work-simple-solutions/ ....... as this explains it very well - first try is to lube your actuator as we show in this episode and try to select 4Wlow and hope it works !! Otherwise follow the guide in the link.
      Best of luck !!

    How hard is it to replace, if its damaged?

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 года назад

      The actuator is a doddle - Nath is just about to film that - just confirm the length and set the nex exactly as the old (unless setting is the issue) - a boost gauge will help (spend more than 10p on an ebay one - I suggest digital readout) get the boost correctly set (under and over as as bad as each other - overboost does not equal tyre shredding performance increases - normally a drop in power)

    • @Uppaah

      @@DrivenMadShow How does a boost gauge affect the diff actuator?

    • @DrivenMadShow

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 года назад

      We are not experts in any way ! - the main point is yours an auto ? if it is, check out the transmission solenoid (electronic not like ours) - if a manual, then we could only guess (not very helpful) but 4L cannot be engaging leaving you in a neutral of some sort - get a really short video clip of you moving from 4H to 4L and what happens - then post it on the L200 facebook page or a page for your vehicle, someone else will have experienced it before, without seeing it in action, its guess work (I assume no error codes are coming up - ours is too old to have them :) )
