I've been a V60 owner since 2020 and it's been a great phone. LG has always been my favorite phone manufacturer since the Nexus 4. One thing I'll say The case while people worry about breaking the screen it is surprisingly tough. Great v60 breakdown thanks!

LG had everything to be at the very least as successful as Samsung, but they fucked it up. Outside of the manufacturing problem about the G4, they left their iconic design for the G5. Then they make it looks like to Samsung, it was like a lost of identity, and then they added the hideous notch.

Good video. A few points of clarification:
    1) "without the Pogo pin, you have to remove the case to charge it." Actually you can use wireless charging with the case on. 15w which was class leading in March of 2020 when this came out.
    2) if you lose your pogo connector, it will cost you 25 bucks. At the time LG was charging $9, and even for as much as a year or so after they were gone, you could still find it for $9 online. I assume that $25 price you see now is through resellers. When LG Mobile went down I bought like six of them for 60 bucks.
    3) The phone came out in 2020 not in 2019.
    4) probably should have mentioned the stylus support and the desktop mode but LG didn't do a good job with marketing that.

NO JOKE.... LG's phone skin and everything was already one of the smoothest experience we can get outside of iphone.. htc with their sense UI.. or even TouchWiz (in the galaxy S2)..

Yeah, I can vouch for the V60 as a really reliable and very solid phone. And to be able to get it new for $250 today is a steal. I have had mine since it released, and paid $1300. What I enjoy the most with the v60 is the true stereo sound(yes it has 2 speakers on each side of the phone.) And the photo quality is amazing.

@@VinnytotheKI have a Pixel 7 Pro as my actual phone now, but I bought a V60 day one and still carry it 90% of the time along with my actual phone for mobile gaming. If an option for a new proper dual screen phone had existed when it was time to upgrade I probably would have gone for that because of how much I love the dual screen on the V60. It's hard to put it down to one like "killer use case", it's really just the convenience of being able to quickly do a side task without closing out of the app that you already have open and getting distracted that was always the big pull for me, and a lot of apps don't really play that well with split screen, so each app getting a full screen of real estate means they both will behave as expected. I also use an app that allows me to run second instances of the same app so I am able to use two pokemon go accounts at the same time on one phone.

Maybe companies saw the tea leaves. I don't know who had the first dual-screen phone. I remembered the ZTE Axon M which was released in 2017. I assume other companies didn't do it because they didn't sell well. Another thing might be the lack of software development. Google already had a hard time making the OS fit onto tablets, it might be more work to have Android work on a dual screen compared to something like the Samsung fold which in a sense just one screen.

I'll use multiple apps at a time all day. From experience with the LGG8X I knew to buy multiple magnetic pogo connectors. Only one has gone bad out of 4.
I bought a Huawei pen and it works great because the phone has pen support and Dex.

I managed to snag my v60 in excellent condition with the dual screen case and authentic galaxy buds live as a combo pack off swappa for $400 a few years back. Still using the phone today. The charge port is now finicky but its relatively easy to replace. I just need to stop being lazy and do it already. It had some weird software bugs in the past like crashing the google play store when trying to search for apps a second time (first search always worked), but other than that the quad dac and dual screen case is what sold me.
I use Sennheiser HD58x headphones and this device has just been my favorite. I'm going to be very sad when I need to eventually upgrade because I am not sure if any phone manufacturer out there uses high quality dacs except maybe Apple (if they still do anyways). I know I can always get an external one but having a nice one built in without the need for extras is why I loved this phone.

Several factors contribute to the exclusive availability of some Japanese smartphones in Japan. These include:
Domestic Market Focus: Japanese smartphone manufacturers have traditionally focused on their domestic market due to its size, affluence, and unique consumer preferences. This approach has allowed them to tailor their products specifically to the Japanese market and achieve significant market share.
Carrier Differentiation: Japanese mobile carriers play a significant role in smartphone sales and distribution. They often have close relationships with domestic manufacturers and may have exclusive rights to sell certain models. This differentiation can limit the availability of these models outside of Japan.
Regulatory Compliance: Japanese smartphones may have features or specifications that are specific to the Japanese market, such as support for certain frequency bands or compatibility with local services. Obtaining regulatory approval for these features in other markets can be costly and time-consuming, making it less attractive for manufacturers to expand their product offerings globally.
Cost Considerations: Expanding into new markets requires significant investments in marketing, distribution, and customer support. Japanese smartphone manufacturers may not see the financial justification for these investments, especially when their domestic market is already quite lucrative.
Cultural Preferences: Japanese consumers have distinct preferences for smartphone features and design, which may not align with the preferences of consumers in other markets. Focusing on the domestic market allows Japanese manufacturers to cater to these specific preferences without having to compromise or dilute their product offerings.
Competition and Market Saturation: The global smartphone market is highly competitive and saturated, making it challenging for new entrants to gain traction. Japanese manufacturers may find it easier to maintain their market share and profitability by focusing on their domestic market, where they have a strong brand presence and established relationships with carriers and consumers.
I lived in Japan in the 2000s. At the time their cell phones were more advanced. They seem not to care about expanding into other markets.

Gotta say, I really like the idea of having a phone case that gives you a second screen to use.
Beyond giving customers a more affordable option when looking into getting dual-screen phones, it’s also just less troublesome from a construction/manufacturing standpoint.
Sure, you might not get the same seamless transition between screens you’d get with a true dual-screen phone (or even a modern flip-phone), but that is a small price to pay for the extra screen space.
My biggest complaints are the lack of a standalone battery for said second screen, and the fact that this is currently the only example of a second screen phone case. Especially since LG is now gone from the mobile scene forever.

The V60 was an amazing device. When the charging port broke after a few years, I used insurance to replace it and since LG shut down, stock was limited and they sent me a Samsung S20 Ultra. It was a downgrade. The V60 also has stylus support on both screens. I bought a Bamboo stylus and it worked great. I liked the mag safe adapter, it kept crap in my pockets from getting in the charging port, and at night I just wave my phone near the cord and it snaps to it. The case on the V60 is durable. I work outside and never had an issue with the case. I accidently cracked the inner screen glass but that was my fault for placing stuff between the sandwich. The hinge on the case is the weak point, it works great, but after a few years it starts to fall apart. I should have just stuck to wireless charging for the phone because I miss it.
I now use a Motorola Edge+ 2022 with the stylus folio and it gives me the closest experience to the V60 without having a secondary screen. Of course no headphones jack or card slot, but 512 gb storage is good enough on board and I fell into the Bluetooth future, so I don't use the headphone jack anymore, but it would be nice to have the option. Overall the Edge+ is like a meeting ground between the V60 and a Samsung S22 Ultra with a few minor compromises of it's own... Mainly camera related.

I've had mine since it came it and only recently had problems with the charge adapter. Luckily I had another but find it hard to find authentic ones. But this phones remains great and keep up with everything I need it to do. Games I play on it are running smoothly. I wish LG would come back to making phones, as I would rather not have a Samsung phone.

I think LG could comeback to phones if they played into nostalgia. If T-Mobile doesn't beat them to it with a new modern Sidekick, i could easily see LG bring back a Rumor with full slide out keyboard or a new take on the Voyager that's a folding phone instead of opening to a secondary screen and keyboard. BlackBerry was able to resurrect, even briefly. It's also not like they have anything to lose at that point either.

I have this phone and daily drive it and have for almost a year now and, theres a few things I dont like about it: the softwear is frustrating sometimes, minor bugs and glitches such as wifi dropping out fequently, and not being able to do certain thinga such as having do not disturb on without muting all media. The dual screen case also has a very flimsy feeling hinge so I stopped using it. The main reason I got it was the price, headphone jack, micro ad card slot, but honestly most of the complaints are about the softwear. I wish it was supported by LG softwear wise longer.

I am actually still using my V60 going on three years now. I like the phone, but I want to upgrade, but now the ones I want are not as powerful for a good price, or they are priced way out of my budget. I also hate that it's not winevine ready for HD content, mine is only L3 for video playback, except RUclips. Netflix and Max and the like only play in 480p max.

Yeah, you missed a MASSIVE secret feature of the V60 that's not advertised anywhere, and I accidentally stumbled across it while looking to increase touch sensitivity, that's AES support. Also that AES support extends to the second screen as well. Have no clue why LG didn't advertise Wacom AES support.

I don't own the V60 but G8X instead, which also has similar dual screen case. I can tell you that screen is actually a lot tougher than you think. I actually dropped my phone with case opened screen down in the concrete floor, not even a single scratch, but got minor crack in the hinge.

My gf had this phone. She loved this phone. The problem with this phone is that the screens break wi5hout any real reason. The outside screen cracked and the back of thr phone cracked. I replaced one screen and it cracked again. It's like normal carry vibrations were enough to damage it.
The phone itself was great just more delicate than it should have been.

V60 owner since release and still daily it. 0/month through att, dualscreen case free from lgs promo. Of which the g8x and velvet both had dualscreen cases but the g8x only pulled power from the usbc port, video was wireless.
My biggest issue is the usb c port failing overtime from taking the phone in and out of the dualscreen case causing the phone to not only fail to connect to the second screen but not charge over a cable at all. Simple enough to replace but still that shouldnt have been an issue. For about a year I went wireless charging only before finally replacing the port.
Love the microsd card slot and the headphone jack. And the v60 was one of the first phones to have 8k30/4k60 video recording. Would get ~12 hours sot new and still get 8 hours 3.5 years later. Still does everything I need with no issue and see no reason to upgrade yet. 865g/8 gb ram is still more than caapable and the 128gb of storage is bolstered by my 512gb sd card, too bad the 256gb variant was never released state side or the black variant sold by docomo.
Nice video on one of my favorote devices but definitely missed some points.
