After my 3-year-old son died I didn’t want to do anything, I didn’t even want to live, let alone buy a home and pay off debts. The days, weeks, and several months that followed I felt very detached and life was surreal. I struggled to see a future without him. We didn’t have life insurance on him. As a general practice, most funeral homes in the US provide services free of charge for children with the exception of some small items that have to be paid for (flowers, obit, etc).
I cannot understand these moms that are so detached from their children who are no longer there to love. I felt like I’d been sideswiped by a train. I was numb to the crying after a while, but that didn’t make me numb to the pain of it. The heartache is Iiterally painful. If you have ever had a heavy heart before, you know that feeling. But when it was my son, that heaviness was much stronger than I’d ever felt before, it felt as though someone reached into my chest and ripped out my heart. Part of my heart died with him.
Six years later and we still live in the same house he passed away in. We are doing a lot better individually and as a family, and we feel his presence here nearly every day. It’s become normal for lights to randomly turn on and off (sometimes not so randomly), or like at Christmas time last year the tree lights flickered like they were coordinating with a song. These things never happened before he passed away, and now they are so common we like to think he’s playing with us. I take comfort in knowing he’s here with us, even if it may be nothing.

The fact that this woman spent less time in prison than you would get for a drug charge is ridiculous! Yes she was stressed, yes she may have ptsd, yes she was tired and stressed out, however there are a lot of women who have more stress and have inadequate housing, food, or a partner but never hurt their baby. She should be in prison not out to live her life. This little baby only got 5 months of life because this woman could not handle the stress of a baby crying. Really my son had colic and cried non stop for hours for 4 solid months, I never thought of hurting him. I had limited financial mean, limited housing, limited food, but I managed because I had to.

The kid is better off fending for themselves until you calm down than fighting for life because you can’t control yourself. Nobody wants to tell people to ignore their kids, but sometimes if you are like this woman, you should absolutely ignore your kid. I often wonder if some of these women ever babysat? I knew friends who realized they didn't like kids after a few babysitting jobs.
Please ladies, it's ok not to have children if you realize you don't like kids.

Get fixed. So tired of people having the right to procreate even when their monsters BUT the innocent helpless children do not have the right to breathe or be alive. WTF

Because nowadays everything and everyone is replaceable. Look at the way people treat animals and the land. That says a lot. And that is how people treat each other as well including children.

She didn't feed her, she didn't change her diaper but she wondered why she was fussy? Most people do not swaddle a 5 month old baby much less put them stomach down while they are swaddled!

Maybe consider the money if you couldn't pay for the funeral or something make plans with the money for house reconstruction is wild.

Have you even thought that she'd paid for the funeral out of money that was saved for the house, so the insurance was replacing those savings? Up till this point, it was a SIDS death so why would it be odd to ask about the insurance? That is what it's there for. Why is that so hard to understand?

When he asked her if it was an accident or if she did it on purpose she was DEAD 💀 silent. If it was truly an accident, she would be jumping up and down trying to defend herself.
