This is how i see the movie 1. kyros and the white lion pride go around userping prides to become this sort of totalitarian leader over the pridelands 2. he does this to mufasa pride hence hem being thrown into a river and drifting off miles away 3. taka finds him and takes him to his pride where the grow up together 4. kryros eventually finds this pride years later and he takes it down too 5. taka and mufasa flee to the mountains where they find sarabi's tribe 6. taka wants the stay and keep running mufasa wants to fight 7. a love triangle (more of a line) forms between the brothers and sarabi. taka likes sarabi and sarabi likes mufasa 8. using the forces of sarabis tribe theres a final battle between our heros and the white lions 9. taka saves mufasa from kyros during the fight and earns his famous scar. 10. mufasa takes kyros down and is crowned a hero 11. he become king of the now unifed pridelands 12. he marries sarabi and gets all the honor and reconition from the war 13. taka gets nothing for his bravery besides a nickname mocking his injury and (greatest insecurity) even though he has royal blood and mufasa doesn't. 14. this starts takas fall from grace
I hope the film explains why Mufasa is JUSTIFIED to the the rightful king instead of Scar. Because Mufasa (if I'm correct) basically destroyed the original bloodline and has created a new one.
Based on the trailer, the white lion pride might possibly have killed Scar’s pride. Him and Mufasa then venture to find a new home while escaping the white lions . Which leads them to the pridelands. The new pride formed would choose Mufasa as their new king due to his character rather than Scar who might have been seen as an inadequate leader even though he’s of a royal lineage. Jealousy and resentment would be building up in Scar, which at that moment , he challenges Mufusa. He loses and thus a rift is formed between the brothers that continues to grow wider.

Though I still feel this overall weakens the tragic impact of Scar's eventual betrayal, cause in my eyes, it's so shocking because Scar is willing to kill his own blood brother and kin to usurp power whereas in this version, there isn't as much familial weight as Taka and Mufasa aren't related

Ok.. I feel like this is a popular trope when it comes to back stories like. In the beginning before the whole the events of the story, there's always these two people who are, friends, or just close to each other before something happened that changed their relationship I always saw this with Optimus prime and Megatron/Orion and D-16 or Megatronus Mr krabs and Plankton Dr Light and Dr Wily Something like that
The smash cuts between the gut punch that is the original death scene of Mufasa and the new story line makes me so pissed off that the "live action" was even made to begin with. This showcases everything that is wrong with the story they are trying to tell. They are taking away the internal conflict between the two ACTUAL brothers and decimating the emotional weight behind Scars betrayal in the first place. If Scar was wronged by Mufasa then he isnt the true villan of the story, Mufasa would be. If only the story we got was cannon to the original animated film. At the very least draw inspiration from "the tale of two brothers." Show their parents and how the chosen heir effected Taka at a young age. This movie is going to be terrible. No matter how ground breaking the realisic cg is.
