This makes perfect sense to me. I’m just wondering if there’s the way to avoid, once you’re all set up, to stop making these unconscious shoulder adjustments that open or close the shoulders. I think that’s what I’m doing.
I tried this technique last round and I can tell you it was crazy how accurate I became. I struggled with aim this whole season up till now. I went from 50 + on 9 to 44 first time trying it. Thank you so much for a well laid out video!
Happy to Help You
Than you for such a clear and concise explanation. It's a tremendous help.
Thanks Michael 👍
Going to give this a try! I’d heard most of it before but like the addition of keeping your body open as you approach the ball after finding your six inch ahead spot. I do know i unconsciously close off to the right even after “aiming”
Nice Job! The best explanation I've heard, even from other teaching professionals. Kudus to you!
Glad you loved it. Many Thanks 👍
I'm new to watching Kerry, and I think this one video will dramatically help me. I'm especially guilty of the pre-shot routine in setting my body first, many times pointed right and then fighting to get back to square. Can't wait to get to the range to practice this.
Goodluck, Randy! Thank you!
I started playing somewhat recently and have always struggled with my alignment as I was always aiming to the right of where I wanted it to go. In this video you explained why it’s likely that was happening and how to correct it. Looking forward to trying this when I next play.
Great! Appreciate it!
This makes a lot of sense. Had a buddy teach me this except he didnt tell me to square the club face first and gdt comfortable around the square face. Thanks for the great tip and clear video.
Excellent reminder! Your lesson messages are very beneficial. Thank You, working towards getting back to good golf again @74.
Thanks for visit 👍
I tried this routine on Wednesday and omg what a difference in my game. Not only did this help and I was on in two on the par 4’s and on in 3 on the par 5’s I broke 90 for the very first time shooting an 88. Had I not missed 4 par putts and 1 birdie putt,my score would have been an 83-84. Thank U so much for sharing this video. I needed this video months ago. You are Da Man
That’s awesome Mate! Get that putter going and you’ll be smashing PB’s every week!
Great video! Something I was looking for and will try implementing. Me and a friend are always aiming too much to the right and I think you got it right at around 2 min. Then I pull/hook the shot after.
Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
@@kerrodgraygolf just edited. I realized I had a couple typos.
Will go try this alignment routine tomorrow morning on the course :)
Just came across your videos - this is the first one and what a great summary of a clean, precise way to line up. I’m headed over to find your others now! Quick question, would you recommend a similar type of setup for putting as well?
It would be a good start point
Thank you so much for this video. You hit the hammer on the nail with this one. Alignment has been my major issue in golf. The mistake mentioned in this video with lining your body first before the club is exactly what I've been doing thinking my lined up correctly with the target but hitting the ball to the right. Kerrod he explained it perfectly with lining your club face first with the target line. I will keep you posted with me trying your golf tip.
Very welcome! Cheering for you, mate!
Great tip. I have been setting my feet first for a very long time. After this lesson with club down first, my dispersion is so much better. Than you
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the visit 👍
This is insane... Now all my shots make sense as I can easily see what I've been doing wrong.... Cannot wait to play next to try this out!
I’ve been setting my stance first for my entire golfing career. This will be a game changer.
What a brilliant video .. absolutely my issue thanks!!
Great to hear!
Thanks 👍
Keeping the hips open while squaring the club face to the target is great advice. I have that awful foot alignment issue and it ruins my swing. appreciate the advice.
Thanks Mate 👍
This is good stuff.... I already pick a spot just in front of the ball... so I thought that was pretty cool. The way you step in though makes sense and I'm going to give it a try. Thanks
Many Thanks 👍
Wow I'm so glad I took the time to watch this video. What a difference this has made on my game. I was guilty of aligning my body to the ball and now this all makes sense. I was constantly trying to make the wrong adjustments: my grip, my stance, my spine angle.
Thank very much Mr. Gray.
Thanks Robert! I appreciate the comment. I'm glad I was able to help you fix your alignment.
I think you just helped me I couldn't figure out why every time I hit my irons or fairway woods or hybrids would go right....thank you for the video
You're welcome, Brian!
Great lesson! Seems to work well on the course..Thank you
You are welcome!
Thanks for watching 👍
For beginner like me, you explanation is very clear, wrong alignment is something I used to do when I play in the course, I will apply what you teach in my next game.. Thanks
Great to hear!
Thanks, Keep watching 👍
love it ! great stuff coach KG. Intermediate target is great.
Glad it was helpful.... Many Thanks 👍
I just found you online, I can't believe how well you explain the golf techniques. Thank you very much. You have a new convert.
Thanks for visiting, Jay! Glad to hear from you!
Great lesson!!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks 👍
Excellent advice
Glad you liked it
Thanks 👍
KG- just found this video by accident Lol. I like your teaching style - will check out some more of your offerings. Cheers!
Thanks... Keep checking 👍🏽
Everything he said, I did it. After watching Genevieve Ling do the same a few months ago, i adopted that set up and it works great. Using the club face to work off of, then foot position after is perfect. Making sure club is perfectly under arms and biceps closer to chest at address. Superb. And if I want to shoot a high fade, I aim left with my foot position, and swing out to in, thus creating ball spin to the right. It works amazing. Thanks to this video for confirming what I already knew.
Excellent quick and easy to remember routine. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks 👍
Very good tip! Thanks
Thanks a lot 👍
Ive been having a nightmare with my alaignment, but have been setting my feet first. Il have to try this today. 👍
Great lesson you come across very well 😀 👍
Glad you think so!
Many Thanks 👍
Great advice! I have been told by my husband I'm aiming right; however, I think I'm aiming down the line. I'm going to practice this technique and hopefully will correct going right all the time. I would like to see a front view as well. Thanks
Have you noticed improvement yet? Thanks
Thank you every thing Ive never done b4 cheers for the simple explanation
Glad to help 👍
Very straight forward and helpful. Thanks
Thanks Mate 👍
Will be trying this Saturday hope it's the answer to my prayers
Great tips and drill.. Thank you
Thanks John
Great tip will use this method from now on. Many thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the visit 👍
Thanks! This makes alot of sense! Going to try it out tonight @ the simulators.
Glad you think so...
Good luck for your game 👍
Great tip on intermediate target!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks 👍
HI, Kerrod I just nedded a kick up the back side, and a little help from you. Cheers Billy.
great video.. I’ve started to do this as my setup routine, along to making sure my club face is squared to the ball..thanks
You got it 👊
Splendid instructions.
Thanks!
I find the spot on the ground first that aligns with the target then I tee it in an area that lines up perfect with target.
I believe this is an issue for me more so with the driver and tee shots. I will definatly give this a try. I have the habbit of taking a line starting from behind the ball too the ball. I always feel if I try to go to a target ahead of the ball it will encourage me to pull the ball left.
I just subscribed to this channel because of the emphasis placed on the "fundamentals." I've waisted countless hours trying to fix an alleged swing fault when the problem was either alignment or posture.
The true fundamentals of golf are impact, speed & control. All swing changes should be based around trying improve one of these!
smart man. this comment is bang on.
Alignment is key to hitting the shot on target, i see many people align the feet first then the club 👍👍👍👍
The main tip to take from this video was simplified to me on the course one day. When he talks about aiming for a spot 6 inches in front of the ball that lines up with the direction u want to go , simply mark the ground with your club by stabbing it , then line up to take your shot at the mark u left on the ground . When u have your club face aimed at your mark it will seem like u are shooting way left , but trust your swing and it will go in the direction u initially aimed for. Works for me . When u get used to it pick a mark on the ground, divot, leaf or something that u can focus on
Except that's illegal, and counts as improving your lie.
@@evansamuel3198 how is it improving your lie? He’s talking about in front of the ball. Just curious
@@aydenharper3535 sorry, rule 10-2b: The player or caddie nest not set an object down anywhere on or off the putting green to show the line of play. (I used the wrong term)
@@evansamuel3198 oh okay 👍🏼. Thank you for having a civil conversation with me, I feel like I can’t find anybody like that nowadays haha
That is totally illegal. But you can definitely do that when you’re playing with your buddies and trying to get better.
Every few months I come back to this vid and it helps me out so much. Such a good vid 👏
Great to hear!
Many Thanks 👍
Kerrod, I love this video bud. I love how you pre-set by putting the club face down first, then having your body follow that. I usually do the opposite. N wonder why I'm a little inconsistent to the left or right at times. Thank you sir!
Thank you, Allan! Appreciate it!
@@kerrodgraygolf My pleasure!
Oh my god needed this video super helpful thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for watching 👍
This really is going to help me! Glad I came across this video

Great tip. A great job on explaining it as well. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you, Bob!
This is the video I needed, thank you! ⛳️
You are so welcome!
Thank you, I really look forward to hitting the range tomorrow😊
You got this, Danniel!
Great tip
Glad you liked it!
Thanks 👍
Great tip. When you place the club on the ground behind the ball, is it in line with your right foot or at this point it does not matter.
Hi, Winston! The right foot is slightly further back.
Wow what an effective way to align!
Glad you think so!
Great tip! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 😃
thanks- this is so crucial
Well done !! great easy to understand lesson ! :)
Glad to hear that! Thank you!!
Spot on pal. Even I can learn that 🙂
Great!
Thanks for watching 👍
Makes sense. Thank You
Thank you, I can see where I'm going wrong and will try this out tomorrow :)
Glad it helped!
Many thanks & Good luck for your golf 👍
Amazing!
Thanks 👍
This is great for a reason... Ben Hogan used the same routine.
Nicklaus used an intermediary target 6 inches ahead of the ball as well
Excellent tip in this video. Thank you
Very welcome, Brandon!
Very good tip thanks.
Thanks a lot 👍
This is fabulous
Thanks
Wow great stuff man
Thanks for the visit 👍
Great video, thanks a lot!
Glad you liked it!
Many Thanks 👍
Thank you!
Happy to help! 🙌
Thanks, Kerrod this is a great and simple process! 🤞it'll help me hit more greens 😵💫
Thanks Stephen! Good luck with the illusive greens.
I do the exact setup with one additional confirmation. Once set and I take some practice swings, I stop the club at 9 o clock (or 3 o Clock) on follow through and look down the shaft to see the direction the club head is pointing. This gives further confirmation that I am on line to the target.
I'm trying to visualize your routine how do you not hit the ball when you're taking practice swings do you swing above the ball? Also 9 and 3:00? Isn't that sideways LOL sorry I'm a newbie but I appreciate any advice
@@jmm1817 Firstly. I am standing off the ball sweeping the grass. As for 9 and 3, If I am facing forward, it is 12, as a right hander 9 is down the line, as a left hander 3 is down the line.
@@cryptoanto2720 okay got it thanks so when you say facing forward you mean facing the ball that's where I got confused I thought facing forward was facing the target LOL
@@jmm1817 Yes. exactly. Facing the ball is 12 O Clock.
@@cryptoanto2720 😊 🙏
Intermediate point in my mind is critical and if I think of a shot fitting the picture - the real picture is a better option!
So important!
This is a fantastic video
Thanks for watching 👍
Great video. We’ll explained in detail. Much Thanks
No problem 👍Thank you, mate!
I'll give it a go today. Makes sense
C g
Thanks for watching 👍
I confirm everything you said. Thanks.
Learned this 50 years ago from Nicklaus’ Golf My Way in a newspaper. The eyeline instruction was new, though.
Just saw this video for the first time and wonder about taking your grip prior to your setup. What is the advantage of doing so?
Hi, Rey! It stops manipulation over the ball.
Thanks this will help my game a lot. I have been doing everything you were saying not to do lol
Goodluck, mate!
Best tip I’ve ever heard! Thank you!
Hope it helps!
I’ll give it a go tomorrow 🤞
Good to hear
Thanks 👍
Simply brilliant
Thanks mate! I appreciate that.
Excellent tip! Would have been a reinforcement to see you hit the ball too!
Have my league later today, can't wait to try this out. I know 80% of my problem is alignment. I line up body first. I'll check back tomorrow let you know what happened.
Well..?
@@PendulousJohnson worked out well, been hitting more greens In reg this season. Now i have to learn how to putt..
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for watching, Keep sharing your experience. Good Luck for your game👍
Superb thank u.
Happy to help!
Neck turn instead if shoulder turn may may be the biggest game changer! My whole life Ive turned my shoulders to look at the hole and check alignment. This means i look left of the target, then I compensate and end up aiming right.
Neck turn when standing over the ball. That’s the simple trick! Thanks!!!
excellent !!
Thank you, Ilsong Kim!
Is that a Nexbelt you're wearing? I just won one in an Instagram contest and it is awesome! Great video on alignment, btw!
sorry for the stupid question🥺is the bottom edge of the club lying on the ground or id it just the heel of the club
Great drill
Thank you, Francis!
Will try this in my next practice . Hope it works 😅
You can do it!
He is correct especially walking in with the right foot because your shoulders should be open (about 15 degrees) which ensures a wide takeaway by starting the swing with the left shoulder. Like Trevino said: on the takeaway your hands should NOT get closer to the right hip if you are open. Carl Lorhen's book gives great info on the grip and the pre-set. ( One Move To Better Golf)
Does this work for drivers off the tee
Excellent 👍🏽
Thank you 👍
When you place your right foot first, is it directly in line with the ball or a little to the left of the ball. Front view would help. Greatly appreciate your videos!!!!
Appreciate it, Carin! Thanks!
Great tool.
Thank you, mate!!
