I tried this technique last round and I can tell you it was crazy how accurate I became. I struggled with aim this whole season up till now. I went from 50 + on 9 to 44 first time trying it. Thank you so much for a well laid out video!
I tried this routine on Wednesday and omg what a difference in my game. Not only did this help and I was on in two on the par 4’s and on in 3 on the par 5’s I broke 90 for the very first time shooting an 88. Had I not missed 4 par putts and 1 birdie putt,my score would have been an 83-84. Thank U so much for sharing this video. I needed this video months ago. You are Da Man
This makes perfect sense to me. I’m just wondering if there’s the way to avoid, once you’re all set up, to stop making these unconscious shoulder adjustments that open or close the shoulders. I think that’s what I’m doing.
For beginner like me, you explanation is very clear, wrong alignment is something I used to do when I play in the course, I will apply what you teach in my next game.. Thanks
Going to give this a try! I’d heard most of it before but like the addition of keeping your body open as you approach the ball after finding your six inch ahead spot. I do know i unconsciously close off to the right even after “aiming”
Can't wait to try this! I'd either forgotten (or never knew) how to align myself to the target line and found myself always aligned far to the right despite it "looking" to me as though I was aligned to my target.
Wow I'm so glad I took the time to watch this video. What a difference this has made on my game. I was guilty of aligning my body to the ball and now this all makes sense. I was constantly trying to make the wrong adjustments: my grip, my stance, my spine angle. Thank very much Mr. Gray.
Keeping the hips open while squaring the club face to the target is great advice. I have that awful foot alignment issue and it ruins my swing. appreciate the advice.
This makes a lot of sense. Had a buddy teach me this except he didnt tell me to square the club face first and gdt comfortable around the square face. Thanks for the great tip and clear video.
Everything he said, I did it. After watching Genevieve Ling do the same a few months ago, i adopted that set up and it works great. Using the club face to work off of, then foot position after is perfect. Making sure club is perfectly under arms and biceps closer to chest at address. Superb. And if I want to shoot a high fade, I aim left with my foot position, and swing out to in, thus creating ball spin to the right. It works amazing. Thanks to this video for confirming what I already knew.
Thank you so much for this video. You hit the hammer on the nail with this one. Alignment has been my major issue in golf. The mistake mentioned in this video with lining your body first before the club is exactly what I've been doing thinking my lined up correctly with the target but hitting the ball to the right. Kerrod he explained it perfectly with lining your club face first with the target line. I will keep you posted with me trying your golf tip.
This is good stuff.... I already pick a spot just in front of the ball... so I thought that was pretty cool. The way you step in though makes sense and I'm going to give it a try. Thanks
I'm new to watching Kerry, and I think this one video will dramatically help me. I'm especially guilty of the pre-shot routine in setting my body first, many times pointed right and then fighting to get back to square. Can't wait to get to the range to practice this.
I started playing somewhat recently and have always struggled with my alignment as I was always aiming to the right of where I wanted it to go. In this video you explained why it’s likely that was happening and how to correct it. Looking forward to trying this when I next play.
He is correct especially walking in with the right foot because your shoulders should be open (about 15 degrees) which ensures a wide takeaway by starting the swing with the left shoulder. Like Trevino said: on the takeaway your hands should NOT get closer to the right hip if you are open. Carl Lorhen's book gives great info on the grip and the pre-set. ( One Move To Better Golf)
I just subscribed to this channel because of the emphasis placed on the "fundamentals." I've waisted countless hours trying to fix an alleged swing fault when the problem was either alignment or posture.
The main tip to take from this video was simplified to me on the course one day. When he talks about aiming for a spot 6 inches in front of the ball that lines up with the direction u want to go , simply mark the ground with your club by stabbing it , then line up to take your shot at the mark u left on the ground . When u have your club face aimed at your mark it will seem like u are shooting way left , but trust your swing and it will go in the direction u initially aimed for. Works for me . When u get used to it pick a mark on the ground, divot, leaf or something that u can focus on
@@aydenharper3535 sorry, rule 10-2b: The player or caddie nest not set an object down anywhere on or off the putting green to show the line of play. (I used the wrong term)
Neck turn instead if shoulder turn may may be the biggest game changer! My whole life Ive turned my shoulders to look at the hole and check alignment. This means i look left of the target, then I compensate and end up aiming right. Neck turn when standing over the ball. That’s the simple trick! Thanks!!!
I do the exact setup with one additional confirmation. Once set and I take some practice swings, I stop the club at 9 o clock (or 3 o Clock) on follow through and look down the shaft to see the direction the club head is pointing. This gives further confirmation that I am on line to the target.
I'm trying to visualize your routine how do you not hit the ball when you're taking practice swings do you swing above the ball? Also 9 and 3:00? Isn't that sideways LOL sorry I'm a newbie but I appreciate any advice
@@jmm1817 Firstly. I am standing off the ball sweeping the grass. As for 9 and 3, If I am facing forward, it is 12, as a right hander 9 is down the line, as a left hander 3 is down the line.
@@cryptoanto2720 okay got it thanks so when you say facing forward you mean facing the ball that's where I got confused I thought facing forward was facing the target LOL
Much appreciate this explanation. There’s nothing worse than actually striking the ball solid and straight and end up missing the green twenty yards to the right! Frustrating. I know I often set up closed but I like your idea of approaching the ball being open to the target. That’s new for me. Small changes can make big differences in outcomes. Thanks for this video! Great description and explanation! Looking forward to giving it a try.
Kerrod, I love this video bud. I love how you pre-set by putting the club face down first, then having your body follow that. I usually do the opposite. N wonder why I'm a little inconsistent to the left or right at times. Thank you sir!
Have my league later today, can't wait to try this out. I know 80% of my problem is alignment. I line up body first. I'll check back tomorrow let you know what happened.
Great video! Something I was looking for and will try implementing. Me and a friend are always aiming too much to the right and I think you got it right at around 2 min. Then I pull/hook the shot after. Thanks!
Great advice! I have been told by my husband I'm aiming right; however, I think I'm aiming down the line. I'm going to practice this technique and hopefully will correct going right all the time. I would like to see a front view as well. Thanks
