She might have been referring to Taylor swift(snake was for reputation album) for dropping something (I forgot what it was) on the same day Katy dropped her witness album, and this prevented Katy's songs in the witness album from getting on top of the chart. She was so sad that her witness album wasn't a hit like prism. So, she became depressed bcs of it. 'humble pie saved her life'. She realized that being on top wasn't really that important. So she didn't care about it and became happy again. That why the last boss was her face ..her own enemy was herself...she wanted her songs to be a hit so badly. Once she dropped her expectations, she's happy again.
