As an anthropology major, this is one of my favorite animated music videos ever. The detail and care put into accurately and respectfully portraying polynesian hawaiian culture makes me so happy.
I love how its actually an accurate portrayal of the culture and how Americans have changed it. The hula dance was turned into a spectacle when it's a very important story telling device for the native people there. I also love the biker chick at the end who was actually doing the hula with the Hawaiians. That was really cool!

This song pretty much went under the radar when it was released, when it actually deserved to do well. The sultry chords and the relaxed beats make Katy’s voice sound sexy as ever, all around it’s a really cool and laid-back song. I blame hideous “Small Talk” for its underachievement.

Daisies was her lead single, she put so much effort and promotion. she performed live on American Idol, Good Morning America and Home Quarantine Performance such as Dear Class 2020 and Can't Cancel Pride. The team sent to radios and sold thousand copies. Its not bad because it reached Top #40 and that's her lowest peak in all her lead single ever. Smile is a bop but i hate it when a song leaked online with Diddy feature so she decided to be solo and even her album track no other artists was featured. I hope this album will peak #1 on BB HOT 200 album even just a week. She's losing her spotlight and i know she doesn't care anymore about number. Uhm... kudos to Katy Perry and her team for not only consulting an actual kumu hula (hula teacher) to portray elements of our culture (traditional kākau or tatoo, kapa making, lei making) and hula in a realistic way (actual hula moves and not the stupid arm wavy thing people do), but also showing how disgusting tourists can be and how exploitative the industry is. We have a long history of colonizers destroying our culture and people appropriating/misrepresenting it. I know it’s just a cartoon, but it was more accurate than anything I’ve seen in mainstream media.

Uhm... kudos to Katy Perry and her team for not only consulting an actual kumu hula (hula teacher) to portray elements of our culture (traditional kākau or tatoo, kapa making, lei making) and hula in a realistic way (actual hula moves and not the stupid arm wavy thing people do), but also showing how disgusting tourists can be and how exploitative the industry is. We have a long history of colonizers destroying our culture and people appropriating/misrepresenting it. I know it’s just a cartoon, but it was more accurate than anything I’ve seen in mainstream media.
