What a fantastic find ! When sportsbikes still made sense, even the price was acceptable.....I remember we sold the last of the 1000k8s for a measly £7500 !!!!!!
What a beauty, I can see why you had to get her, Absolutely immaculate. I bought a GSXR K1 600 last winter which I have been spending the last year turning her back to standard and getting rid of all the anodized crap that Gixxer owners have a thing for. If she classifies as a “classic” happy to lend her to you for a test. Love older bikes and really looking forward to that series!
Great choice of bike Chops. I bought one of these brand new back in 2008 and absolutely loved it. The K7/8 bikes were slated at the time as they were heavier and lacked some midrange compared to the much lauded K5/6 series. This was entirely down to the exhaust system which was forced on Suzuki by the Euro laws of the time and in pretty much every other way it was in fact a better bike. The Arrow cans (which my bike also came with) do away with a good proportion of the extra weight. The remainder can be shed by binning the cat and fitting the Arrow decat. pipe and if you also fit a Power Commander 3 (Dynojet have a map ready made for this setup) the missing midrange will also return. Totally transforms the bike and doesn't cost the earth.
@@graemeevans214 wasn't something that was commonly done back when I had the bike, but agree it would probably give even better results. On the other hand the PC3 is a simple, cheap, do-it-yourself fix.
Buying a used motorcycle is a great way to not only get into riding but also a terrific means of getting a really nice bike without paying for the depreciation. Most of the bikes I have bought in the past decade are used and often they have very few miles on them. I always buy from a dealer because I trust them to ensure the bike is ready and safe to ride. Also, buying from a dealer usually provides me with a warranty. You chose an excellent bike!
K7 and K8 bikes are the unsung heroes of the GSXR1000 range. Fantastic bikes. And for a long, long time - nobody wanted them. Now a good one is difficult to come by. 🙂👍

Wow Chops....you've got an absolute minter of a machine there 👌😊 Suzuki have always made bullet proof engines too. It's funny...whenever anybody mentions about a superbike or track bike the Gixxer is the iconic machine that always comes to mind. Great find 👏 👍
Christ that thing is clean. Always respect people who take care of their machines, even though this guy barely rode the bike for the 14 years he's owned it.
Wow Chopsy! Such a lovely bike. Well done mate for finding such a gem! Beautiful. Will be great fun riding this analogue sports bike. One for the purists! Old school but not old school if you know what I mean. Stonking engine/gearbox on these GSX-Rs and quick by any measure. Enjoy!
Congratulations!! Incredible condition. Almost too good to drive on the track, given the model year and that condition! Love it! Greetings from Sweden🤗
What a fantastic bike! A bit like a gift from God - most of us can only dream of finding an older bike like that, it's more or less showroom condition isn't it. Looking forward to the test ride. Take care.
Had my K7 for 8 years and it was a cracking bike. Parted ways with it for a BMW HP4, and it just wasn't the same. Now have a K5 in the garage and it's just a cracking bike to ride. You're welcome to have a play on it if you would like to.
That sir, I a beautiful bike. You'll never get bored of the power it makes. The track modes are almost impossible to notice any difference unless you are doing 2nd or 3rd gear clutch up wheelies. I spent some of the best rides of my life on one of these over the last 10 years.
Lovely mate. I’d argue you’ll get more enjoyment from that than the S1K tbh. Bikes of that era just felt more fun, something’s been lost with all the regs and ridiculous price tags. You’ve got me thinking now!!
Love the idea of reviewing older, and dare I say it, more affordable bikes. Looking forward to it. Also, love the new bike. Probably still too good for the track. you'll need to get a far tattier one for that.
Way to go Chopsy. An absolute beauty. Tip my hat to the previous owner for looking after her so well. Am I jealous at this point? You bet your arse I am!! Enjoy brother.
I bought a 2009 GTXR 750 last year and it really does look brand new (at least it did before a couple of track days) Got it with 6400 Kms, slapped some brand new Michelin Power 5's on and it looks incredible. These mid 2000s sport bikes really are a different breed. I remember being in middle school seeing sport bikes like it, always wanting to have one. Now I do! The CAT on the k9 is a little much, so that might be a project for this summer, but overall I couldn't be happier to use it as a weekend warrior/track bike
Nice bike Mr Chops in 2006 I bought a 04 zx 10 an absolutely crazy bike the front wheel was always off the floor or the rear was trying to overtake it. I tracked it and never used it on the road again. You gotta have a go on one 👍. Definitely a game changer 🏍
I bought a 2005 Zx10r last year. Proper fast. It's shorter than most 600 CC race bikes... Had a gsxr 750 1998 for 6 years befor that. It's nice to have some power down low now :-)
Congratulations LCR on the new Suzuki! Those GSXR motorcycles are something else, someone i know has a K6 and they love it. And it rips, but also has a comfy seat cushion as most Suzuki motorcycles have which i think is super. Take care and have a good one
What an absolute peach of a find. 👌 Massive Gixer fan had 13 bikes over the years & 9 of them Gsxr’s , 2 of those being K1 & K4 1000s. Hung up my leathers a couple of years ago after 25yrs riding sports bikes due to family factors but always scan the classifieds as the itch is still there.
First of all, congratulations on the purchase of the gsx-r. This is the last gsx-r 1000 engine they produced before they reduced the stroke in search of even more peak power. This engine has been highlighted as one of the best of all time by Brock`s P. This both in terms of early torque, power and reliability. One of the engines that can withstand the absolute most abuse and tuning. I think my older bikes are the most fun and rewarding to ride and they bring out the biggest smiles. The feeling of mastery is much greater when you have to know the bike well to get the best out of it. If you upgrade brakes, suspension, cat delete, dyno tune and mufflers out, you will have a motorcycle that can outperform the S1000RR on the track. The only place a modern liter bike will be superior is at a straight stretch above 12,000 rpm. After a ride, you will be left with a big smile that lasts much longer than you can get with any of the new bikes. Well done enjoy!
Yep, I have a 08 gsxr 750 almost immaculate. Mine came with a quickshifter fitted, makes it great fun to ride. I absolutely love it, same colour as yours.
You asked are there anymore bikes from this Era in this condition well yes I bought a mint condition GSXR K6, w/8,105mi on the clock Phantom color scheme , just gorgeous- and need I mention that motor is too die for!!! Cheers and keep up the good work, I just bought a 2003 Kawasaki ZRX 1200R with 10k also like in new condition, wow !! I’m loving my 2022 Hayabusa Blk/Gold - those are the 3 gals I have in the garage
I like the way your mind is working here. The whole ethos surrounding the ‘true’ sportsbike era is enchanting. There was a tangible feeling of motorcycle evolution from one year to the next and we could actually afford to buy outright the best bikes on the planet. Bury Hill and Boxhill, alongside every other bike meet in the UK, were the gathering places of true sporting brothers, united in a focussed mindset of pure enjoyment based on the ownership of these bikes and discussing and admiring each others machinery. A truly evocative and mindblowing time to be alive. Adventure bikes just dont seem to be able to conjure up such feelings and I feel that the whole Charlie and Ewan exercise was concocted to trick the sportsbike public into thinking that this lifestyle would be a substitute with the same thrills being served up in comfort. Just my perspective. Enjoy the bike Chops, it’ll get more attention at the local meet than a V4r! Have a smashing day everyone. 🕉
You can still buy these though, and it's not very old so I'm not sure what the big deal is, you could replace it a thousand times with new ones. I agree a track bike should look like you just came out of a volcano or the jungle getting slapped by tree branches the whole way, but some people do race new bikes.
1000 miles a year for 14 years and cherished , this bike will give you 95% of a new bike on track and 100% on the road , great find , you've got to ask yourself the question why do you have the H2R, what's it for , yes I know you love it for what it is , I get it , but it doesn't make much sense if you can't use it for what you want to use it for , especially when there's bikes like this around , looking forward to the ride on this baby .
I cannot believe that bike is that old. It looks fresh off the production line. What a beauty! you will have some fun on that bike for sure. Good choice Chopsy
Those twin cans are beautiful. One of/probably the worst thing about modern bike aesthetics is the massive euro compliant exhaust systems, That bike really is a treat for the eye and I'm sure the ears too.
Great find. I was lucky to have the same luck on getting a k8 750 same colour scheme . Got it with 11xxx kilometers was super new. Have done filter full arrow system n translogic quick shifter . Made 143hp to rear wheel .super light and nimble never struggle to keep up with anything. Is a rocket
I done a similar thing last year, bought a spotless K6 GSXR 1000. I tracked it but knew it was too nice, sold it and bought a K6 dedicated track bike for half the price.
What a gorgeous machine, I have a Suzuki TL1000R v twin super bike in a similar condition which is 22 years old and I love it to bits- the sound is awesome with twin chrome microns and so much torque, I could probably find a space somewhere for that GSXR also. Keep up the great work pal 🏍🏍🏍
Wow, stunning bike! I had a 2007 750 & absolutely loved it, what an awesome bike it was, rode it every day for 4 yrs, it never let me down, they’re great bikes, best of luck with it, stay safe!
that's got to be the best find wow awsome..glad your going to review the older bikes very refreshing as everyone's just focusing on the new stuff so yh looking forward to future video's high5 chopsy
you should see my k6 gsxr 1k. i got this year. only 13k kms. Last owner stop riding after breaking his hand. The bike sat in a barn covered for 10+ years and now im working on bringing back to life.
I agree, the 00s changed everything. The k5-8, r1 and kxr made big horsepower. The 1198 ducati showed how mental a v twin can be. First rsv4 showed the way of the future. Then bmw turned up with the first s1000rr... over 10 years on and the new bikes have a few more hp but weigh more, nothing like the leap we took from the 90s to the late 00s
Mr. Lamb Chop - You have bought one of the most beautiful Suzuki GSX-R's I've seen in quite sometime. It is just stunning to look at. Makes me want to look for a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R 750 like I had (same blue & white colors). Enjoy your new baby... so beautiful. I'm jealous...
Cracking. I have friends who ride less than 2k a year, dry days only, etc, and their bikes are immaculate. There are not many that will part with them; that was a good find. Enjoy.
Love that. Bet you didn't even try and haggle its so nice. I got me a GSXR 750 for track this year. First track day booked and cannot wait to let it loose.
It's such a lovely example! As a K7-8 owner myself who puts 14k miles on it in a year, it's been an absolute pleasure to own! The only advice i have is to try and avoid folding the right hand side mirror, it starts to wobble and there is no fix once it does, only solution is to replace them with 09-16 model year mirrors. Also the only part not up to modern bike standards is the brakes, a master cylinder upgrade goes a long way, but a caliper upgrade take it that extra bit further. Excellent purchase!
I bought a gsxr 600 last year 06 plate had 4,030 miles on the clock. Only marks i found was stone chips on the front fairings and near the pillion seat there was a few tiny scratches where I imagine the 1st and only owner before myself has caught his boots. Ill also be keeping it original and changing panels out or getting them resprayed to make it look immaculate
Summer 2019 I bought an ‘05 Fazer1000 with 10k miles, a brand new Maxton fully adjustable shock and littered with quality carbon in the same condition for £3.5k as a tourer as my R1200S is becoming a bit cramped for big distance. The previous owner would dismantle it and spend 16 hours cleaning it with cotton buds. They ‘are’ out there.
That’s nice that. I have a gs500e 99 reg, ur more than welcome to come and rest ride her 😎 bought as a non runner. She is all legit and runs lovley now 😎
Evolution of the famous K5, always got slatted back in the day during SPOTTY group tests, but for a road bike + a few track days it’s a winner. And no time spent fiddling with multiple menus and screwing everything up, just jump on and ride, happy days 👍😀
What a stunner, Pal! Congrats on the new Gixxer🙌🏻 no wonder you pull the trailer, I would’ve done the same. I’ve had three of these, the last one was a 2012. But daaamn, this looks immaculate, it’s a gorgeous, almost showroom condition! Can’t wait for more content featuring this stunnner! #TeamLCR
Good to know that I am not the only one to mourn the passing of cheerful ly coloured, road useable supersports bikes.... bikes get more colourless with every year
Gsxr1000 k5-k8 are absolute beauty with an impressive power and reliabilty ! i already have two gsxr1000 07&08 and i truly love them both ! you are going to enjoy it more than newer bikes because they do have that tech. but not as new bikes (gizmos and quircks) you will always feel in control 👍🏻
Oh bloody Hell John, I can't believe it. I have spent Christmas and the new year looking at gixxers of approx the same age or slightly newer. That one in particular is simply stunning. It has really pee'd me off now as I know I won't be able to match that one. I bet you will enjoy that more than the latest machinery out there today. Great buy 👌
Few years back I bought a 04 zx10r that was wrecked at 126 hundred miles.. owner let it sit and over the years life kicked in... now I have it to rebuild 🤙🏿
I had a 2005 K5 and put 13000 miles in it in 18 months, mid Naughty GSXR are brilliant.your new K7 / k8 looks lovely. And you have the arrow cans too, good option when they were new.
I just got myself a 05 650 bandit before Christmas it will be my first big bike on the road. Got my theory 1st fed then das in March. Can’t wait to get her out the shed
Excellent Chops. Well done. Usually Suzukis fasteners etc usually do not last. Tail tidy Decat Quick shifter Power commander Done I’ve had a K5 always liked the k7/k8
Nice one, Chops. What a mint condition K8 ‘thou. Respect to the previous owner. I have a ‘96 750 SRAD and wouldn’t ever part with it! Smells like a proper bike when you ride it! Still puts a massive smile on my face, especially when you consider my main bike is a BMW S1000XR.
I.LOVE.THAT.BIKE!!! I had a clean K8 600 with blue rims and blue seat, but another rider crashed into me last year. 👍🏾👍🏾 That is my favorite color scheme!
Wow just wow...what a find chops congrats on the new bike. I thought my 07 R1 was immaculate when I bought it at 13,700 miles but that gixxer is just stunning for a 14 year old bike. To nice to track in my opinion and It's got me looking on Ebay for one 😂...just something about the older generation of bikes with no aids and brownie points for the bigmac storage space 😂. You could fit 3-4 Cornish Pasty's in that cubby hole 👍😁
My Goodness. Unbelievable how well kept that Gixxer is after 14 bloody years. Definitely a good find. I remember borrowing one of those from a friend the year they came out. They're FAST AS HELL! Ride Safe Ride Good HAPPY Chopsie!
Hi Chopsie, I’ve just seen your video about your new GSXR1000 and you stating you were looking at riding older bikes that changed things. I have a 1997 Ducati 916 and a 1999 Yamaha R1 4xv That you are more than welcome to have a go on. Thanks for reading Jon
What a find, as an ex owner it'll be emissions and noise compliant (with baffles sadly) still with the Arrows. I'm not going to tell you how to suck eggs but keep all your original parts. Fit track fairings and an aftermarket quick shifter. Stick some wrap on the swing arm as on a track that chain may stretch and chip it. Enjoy your initial run to McD's - I traded my K7 for a S1000RR, you'll see the similarities in shape.
Chops, she's a minter! You will love it. I have a K5 with a few more miles on the clock but it's been dyno'd at 165hp at the rear wheel ( PC3, Yoshi slip-on and K&N) but so usable day to day. Looking forward to a "garage series"!
She's stunning! Crazy to think this can be classed as "retro" now! This bike is like a time capsule - I remember seeing these in the showroom of George White, in pretty much similar condition, 13 years ago or so. You have a great eye for bikes mate, wish I had your luck finding such gems
Amazing timing, I’ve been following various >K5 GSXR’s after contemplating a Tuono or other modern Supernaked and your assertion it’s ‘comfortable’ as a fellow strapping six-footer, has swayed me back to these. The only slight annoyance is you’ve probably bought the best one off my watch list! The missus will be so pleased because the funding of the next bike is standing between her and a new kitchen and these are a third of the price of the Aprilia! You could chop out that cat and have a K5 power to weight ratio (better actually) plus the maps and that thing would be very competitive without losing its originality. Can’t wait for the next vid Chopsy
I would love to see a ZXR400. That was my first bike after I passed my test. It was a mad rev monster and I loved it. Only sold it when I found out I was pregnant . MIne was a 1997 bike. That was over 20 years ago, just come back to riding last year now my child is grown up.
That looks fabulous and a total credit to its previous owner. These older bikes are sooo good to ride! (See my old VFR750) you're making me miss my old 954 Blade!
That's absolutely beautiful, stunning, if you look the plate off and showed anyone who didn't know tht was a older model you'd easily say that was brand new
Watching 00’s bikes is more interesting than the modern stuff.. these are the kinds of bikes most of us will own. Congrats on the purchase 👍
I miss the days, when you could tell a bike, just by the colour scheme.
Came here to say this, I unsubscribed a while back as It was all brand new stuff, I currently own a 'retro' 2004 fireblade
Hard to believe this is now called “retro”. Nice one Chops. Looking forward those those vids
That's what I thought, but probably because my last bike was a 2008, and my 'new' bike is a 2000 m/y bike.
No one calls this retro
it's not a retro, it's an original older bike.
He was just referring to what Chops said in the video lads.
It’s not even 15 years old idk why the title says it’s “retro”

I cannot believe that bike is that old. It looks fresh off the production line. What a beauty! you will have some fun on that bike for sure. Good choice Chopsy
I had one, I decatted it with the arrows, Power commander
It sounded mint loads of bass, also passed every trackday noise test without the baffles 👍🏻
Is a rocket
Blimey Chops, gives a whole new meaning to 'mint condition', stunning looking bike, congratulations. 👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
Absolutley gorgeous paint! That blue looks outstanding in the light! Insane!
Stunning! It looks better than new IMO. Take good care of her Chopsy & of course yourself as well. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Great find! As one who owns this bike, you will love it! Is a great balance of power and handling.
you should see my k6 gsxr 1k. i got this year. only 13k kms.
Honda VTR SP2 will blow your mind particularly on B roads
ZXR400 from mid 90s is an absolute weapon
GSXR1000 k5 and GSXR750 k6 are both amazing
Real stunner! Insanely clean. Congrats!
I’ve got a K6, clean, but still a real 10 footer. Can’t wait to see more bikes from days past!
Sweet maxy we think alike. Classic sports love this content mate.
#TeamLCR
Thanks Mike appreciated buddy 👍
Price???
Good to know that I am not the only one to mourn the passing of cheerful ly coloured, road useable supersports bikes.... bikes get more colourless with every year
for me, this is the best design Suzuki has ever give to a GSXR1000.... its more aerodynamic than its successors + its from the K8 generation
Gsxr1000 k5-k8 are absolute beauty with an impressive power and reliabilty !
i already have two gsxr1000 07&08
and i truly love them both !
you are going to enjoy it more than newer bikes because they do have that tech. but not as new bikes (gizmos and quircks)
you will always feel in control 👍🏻
Oh bloody Hell John, I can't believe it. I have spent Christmas and the new year looking at gixxers of approx the same age or slightly newer. That one in particular is simply stunning. It has really pee'd me off now as I know I won't be able to match that one. I bet you will enjoy that more than the latest machinery out there today. Great buy 👌
Cheers. These are exactly the sort of reviews many of us want to see. New bikes are all very well, but let's come back to planet Earth. ATVB
Few years back I bought a 04 zx10r that was wrecked at 126 hundred miles.. owner let it sit and over the years life kicked in... now I have it to rebuild 🤙🏿
It looks brand new Chops, nice one
I had a 2005 K5 and put 13000 miles in it in 18 months, mid Naughty GSXR are brilliant.your new K7 / k8 looks lovely. And you have the arrow cans too, good option when they were new.
Stunning machine what an example of a very good proven sports bike gixxers since 1985 love em
I just got myself a 05 650 bandit before Christmas it will be my first big bike on the road. Got my theory 1st fed then das in March. Can’t wait to get her out the shed
Excellent Chops. Well done. Usually Suzukis fasteners etc usually do not last.
Tail tidy
Decat
Quick shifter
Power commander
Done
I’ve had a K5 always liked the k7/k8
You’ve picked up an absolute minter there Chopsy! I’ve got a red/black RR6 blade you’re welcome to have a ride on for your series sir 👍
My Goodness. Unbelievable how well kept that Gixxer is after 14 bloody years. Definitely a good find. I remember borrowing one of those from a friend the year they came out. They're FAST AS HELL! Ride Safe Ride Good HAPPY Chopsie!
Blimey chopsy you got a bike there! Thats mint , all the stuff I’ve been looking at on eBay has been crap, good on ya.
Hi Chopsie, I’ve just seen your video about your new GSXR1000 and you stating you were looking at riding older bikes that changed things.
I have a 1997 Ducati 916 and a 1999 Yamaha R1 4xv That you are more than welcome to have a go on.
Thanks for reading
Jon
I bought an 05 Yamaha FZ6 in August last year it only had 16K on the clock absolutely love it.
Haha thanks Oswald! Yeah can't wait to ride it. I can just tell from my short ride to the garage it's going to be a brilliant road bike 👍
Wow chops she has been loved and pampered by the previous owner, what a great find mate.
Pete
She's stunning! Crazy to think this can be classed as "retro" now!
This bike is like a time capsule - I remember seeing these in the showroom of George White, in pretty much similar condition, 13 years ago or so.
You have a great eye for bikes mate, wish I had your luck finding such gems
TheScortUK , only the Poster is claiming it's "retro" ! It's just a clean, used bike.
I bought my K7 1000 back in 2016 for 6K and It had 6800 miles on it. I have about 24K miles on it now and it's still a beast 💪🏾
Twin exhausts look great
I would love to see a ZXR400. That was my first bike after I passed my test. It was a mad rev monster and I loved it. Only sold it when I found out I was pregnant . MIne was a 1997 bike.
That was over 20 years ago, just come back to riding last year now my child is grown up.
Fantastic find Chopsy! You now have the problem of trying to keep it looking good lol. 😉
Beautiful addition Chopsy! Congrats 🎉 I'll be shopping for one now! Love that bike mate.
It's like a new old bike. Respect for the old owner. What a fella.
