I always wished Duke had gotten more official stories, like I would've loved to hear a story about him getting adjusted to the Skarloey Railway, and getting used to calling Stuart and Falcon Peter Sam and Sir Handel, what a diesel is, I love these RWS edits and the real life events that inspire some of these!
While Rusty surely has no secrets to keep as he’s been on the Skarloey Railway the whole time (same applying to Ivo Hugh and Fred as they were built right by the SR), we know Sir Handel and Peter Sam kept Duke a secret for a long time and for all we know Duncan probably hasn’t said much about his old life at the factory as it’s implied it was rough over there which shaped his cantankerous nature. Skarloey has been great at getting the others to talk about their issues (encouraging Sir Handel and Peter Sam to speak up about Duke) but who knows, maybe there’s stuff him and Rheneas know from their early days they’ve kept secret from the others (and I’m sure Duke has plenty of secrets from the early MSR too). Do you think it’s possible Skarloey Rheneas and Duke (well there’s still so much about the MSR we don’t know yet) very well could have secrets they know they haven’t told the others?
Yeah was hoping for more at least about the MSR (I don’t know when we’ll find out more for what was in mind for Duke being #8 but nothing said for a #7 before Ivo Hugh where I wonder what was in mind for both Wilbert and Christopher) but the fact it’s been confirmed Oliver worked on a service known as the Chalford Railcar where there is information on which 1400s worked on it. And I never thought the TK&E’s #1 would resemble Theo of all characters (with ironically the #2 resembling Glynn the most). I can also imagine in canon Sir Handel’s been pretty dismayed about losing to “Carr” and has made it quite clear to the others how his feelings are. Bet they as well as the main line engines find it quite amusing too.
