Hello 👋 I'm back at it again with the Rev content 😊 I hope you guys like it! FYI my typing speed is about 95 WPM which might come as a surprise considering how slow I was at this challenge. 😂
Were you given an hour or did you challenge yourself to complete it within an hour? Forgive me if you find this question stupid. I'm just a college kid looking to make a little money.
@@preethamhegde033 No worries! Totally not a stupid question. I timed myself for 1 hour as a challenge. Otherwise I had about 2 hours to submit the project as it was a RUSH project.
@Hank Lawton Bro u have to travel to McDonald's, pay for the fuel and u have to do offline and it can vary in typing and stuff so I prefer Transcriptionist
@Hank Lawton sure, if you live in a country where minimum wage is $15 an hour. Minimum wage in my country is $1.50 an hour, think I'd rather take my chances with rev
The struggle is real. This is so accurate from finding a reasonable job to do, spending over an hour on a job that is less than 15 transcribed minutes, the pressure of the deadline in rush jobs, to having to stretch and take a break afterward. I just started about a month ago and have been making an effort to try to do jobs on a daily basis. It's tricky. It makes a difference if you get a job where you can learn something or type about something you already know a lot about and are interested in. It's good to have goals - like wanting to get better at transcribing Zoom meetings or a specific type/genre. I've just started venturing into non-Line jobs without a foot pedal (yet), which is even more difficult.
@@jessdelight Agreed. I can't listen through without correcting as I go. Some of the training, especially for multiple speakers, suggests doing that. I don't have it in me. It bothers me too much. I have a built-in editor that cringes at the errors!

I was going through A LOT at the time so by no means is this a general review or whatever. Just my personal experience. ☺️☺️☺️
From what I've seen - this is actually par for course. It should take a good transcriptionist 3-4x the audio length to accurately transcribe an audio file (verbatim). You took 4.44x the length, which - as you say - rusty: but not inordinate.
Hi. I found your video as I was searching up why Rev hasn't had any jobs this last week and starting this new week. It's common when there is a holiday, like last week being Memorial Day. But this is how I get those bills paid and it is frustrating. I think the audio quality ratings are weird, but overall, thank you for the video. It is how it all goes down. In the end, when I count the time it takes me to find a job I'm confident in getting a decent grade in, I made $5 to 10/hour depending. It's only worth it to me because I'm trying to stay home and homeschool my kids while I'm in grad school as well. No gas, no commute, no office drama.
Iv just watched a video explaining I could earn up to 350 a day, iv gone onto the main site and have no clue were to start, I'm going to go do more research into it. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I’m on the other side. I make 4.00 a minute for the big studios, although I usually just proofread others, and I’ve been doing this 20 years. Rev is known as the bottom feeder and the sweat shop leader, in the industry. Any videos highlighting Rev’s atrocities of labor are always welcome. Thank you.
Which companies do you suggest for this type of work? I just got approved to work for rev but I see that they don’t pay they well. I like this Avenue of work, but I just want something that pays better
Sounds like your grader was nice. I got a 3/5 and 2/5 on two projects (both projects were done the same night and had the same speaker) because I typed what was said verbatim when the speaker said “you know” instead of taking it out and then I got emails saying I was in danger of having my account closed because the low scores dropped my accuracy rating to like 4/5
You can get a keyboard that allows you to type like a stenographer, which will take some time to master, but with some practice you can get over 100 wpm, and with a decent amount of skill you would be able to type at speaking speed, meaning you could pretty consistently do projects at the same speed as the videos. That means you could push $30-$40/hr at the rate you showed on this video. Granted it would take you some time to master stenography, but this would encourage you to practice and pay you to do so. Such a keyboard can be purchased for under $200 and there's free software to run it on Mac and PC
Thanks for this! Very ilustrative! I have a quick question: Would you say that bad audios are predominant, common, something that happens from time to time or rare?
So 1 hour to earn a morning coffee. 2 hours to earn lunch. 2 hours to earn dinner. With an hour worth of searching for projects that leaves you with $600 a month after taxes after working 9hr shifts 7 days a week 4 weeks a year. Oof.
