I just wanna say how cool it is to see you guys talking about how you keep coming back to this video. I think there's something real magical about this performance, even with all the much better quality videos that are around now, and I'm real happy thinking that I helped buckethead win over some fans by putting it up here.
This was one of the first videos i binged on buckethead and ive continued to hunt for all of his different live stuff for over 10 years but this is still one of my favourite renditions of this song; you're right about there bein something magical about this performance. I think this show in general he was on fire, as I think its the same one as his awesome version of Whitewash aswell?
Buckethead's brain is literally a computer at this point. He has the strongest relationship between soul and guitar that I've ever seen. Anything he feels, he can play it. His brain is so trained at this point that it's literally just a computer translating the languages between soul and guitar, when he jams he just lets his heart speak, and it's so fluid and pure. There's something so unique about the soul in his playing that stands out and sounds different, and it's incredible to listen to what he can come up with live.
plus i remeber trying to find the tabs for this xD good luck he changes it up live like every time , had to learn it by ear and i did but sadly do not play much anymore since i got my cat but really should get back into it
Guy thanks bucket head for coming along with a big applause and in return buckethead absorb all that positive energy and gave them a moment to remember with the best Nottingham lace live performance anyone has ever seen. Legendary. Need to thank the b.h. more.
As a 13 year old in 2008, 3:55 was hands down the coolest thing I'd ever seen in my life and the kind of thing I dreamed of being able to play one day. 11 years later, here I sit watching the same lick from an entirely different perspective and all I can think about is just how incredibly musical Buckethead's shredding has always been, and I still hope to be able to play guitar as clean as he does someday. Thanks for making my childhood, @argondamn
@111Buckethead Bro my guitar journey begun with this video too. when I saw this video in 2008 and decided to play guitar. To this day I play guitar and Buckethead is my number 1 musician and human being. Also my girlfriend met me because of guitar. Thank you Buckethead and argondamn. Cheers
Hey same here i discorvered buckethead at like 14 years old and now 6 years after i still listen to 90% him, i think his music changed me over the time and my perspective of music and life in general. This video and so many others are almost nostalgic at this point
I've never thought I'd ever have THE ONE and only favorite guitar solo of all time. Too many of them. But yeah, this is it! Nothing beats this version of Nottingham Lace. I feel complete :)
Dude I love this song and sólo too! One of the best songs ever made. Always I listen this song, then I hear “ Corte porteño” by Walter giardino ( I strongly recommend you to listen it. Then you tell me what you think). I know no other song and solo to play along after this one.
"to day we bury Ruther, he didn't lead much of a life just sat on his bum, but here is some awesome music to listen to. At least Ruther had good taste!"
THE ABSOLUTE BEST VERSION! Seeing this original video is still here 17 years later is amazing, I was just a kid when I discovered this. The energy in this one.. 2006 era was one of the best, for licks. He had an almost bluesy feel in his improvisation or something. I wish he still did them, I thinking tuning down 1/2 step really gives you that feel! Buckethead thank you for inspiring me to be the player I am today, It all started with these early videos here on RUclips. I still come back here 15 years later (around 2008 is when I remember discovering this) and it still hits just the same as the first time, EVERY time! 111Buckethead here, Cheers!
I can't believe this video is 17 years old.... I watched this just a few days after it was first posted back when I was 13 years old. My friend had downloaded it and was listening to it on his MP3 player at school and he put his left earphone in my right ear and told me to listen to it. That was the first time I heard a Buckethead song. The second time was on Guitar Hero 2 a few months later. Ever since then I have been in love with his music. :)
Coming back to this video after so many years. Funny how I used to think that this guy was a shredder that had some good songs. The whole visuals and van Halen-esque parts are deceiving. This composition had some of the sweetest and finest bluesy licks. Good stuff.
296 guys that probably listened to the first minute of the song and gave it a thumbs down instead of waiting for the real genius that come out at about 2:15 onward.
Its funny how people think that a few bends here and there and making stupid faces is considered "emotion". By wearing a mask Buckethead surpasses all that and lets the music speak for itself like a true musician.
I haven't even read these comments but this video is unbelievable. From 3:00 to the end is about as hard as a person can rip with soul in anything I've ever watched. Moves me every single time!!!
If im in a bad mood.. a good mood a great mood... or crying....this song somehow makes EVERYTHING BETTER ! Best guitar soloist of all time hands down... and to think ive missed him in concert 2 times.. my life is literally incomplete.
Theres something about bucketheads melodies that just fill me with purpose. Like I'm lucky to exsist in a place where I get to experience them and just geek tf out about how amazing this man is.
I bet that guy screaming "buckethead Ty for coming" had no idea how epic this song/video would become. Rock on BH!!!! I'm a successful white guy with conservative friends and when I tell them BH is one of my favorite artist they think I'm crazy. They along with many others have no idea or can comprehend his talent. The best shredder with soul EVER!! Ty for giving me energy on those 12-15 hour work days! In a non gay way, I love you buckethead ;) Ty Ty Ty
I watch this video everyday and still can't get enough. I guess the feeling I have when I listen to any of buckets masterpieces ... a wonderful stress release! ! Love you buckethead!

The most underrated guitar player of our generation and the most versatile and creative virtouso still able to actually connect and communicate through the music. Where others end up taking you nowhere at the end of the day with all their smartass knowledge and technique and speed, Buckethead just makes you connect with the light in your soul in the middle of the darkest night.
i love this song in that...although theres a lot of technique involved, the amount of feel overrides it. thats the beauty of it that its melody is just so damned nice you dont notice the technique as the main accomplishment. awesome yet underrated guitarist

The first time I ever heard buckethead was on the GnR album Chinese democracy, I didn't think he was anything special. I have never been so wrong in all my life.
Interesting comment. I'm sure it's not easy but when you master an instrument in every aspect it has to be worth it in the end. Given Buckethead's discography he's still immensely in love with playing the guitar after 30 or so years. I'm certain he has no regrets.
Solitary does not have to mean lonely or sad. He could be having the time of his life and still be a recluse. Besides i dont thhink he is as solitary as you think
Actually, solitary does have to mean lonely or sad. Humans are a social species. I'm not saying he spends every day alone but the amount of time it must take to compose the pikes, for example, is no joke. And I'm sure he doesn't compose while socializing, I'm also sure he does a lot of his recordings alone. Maybe he mixes and samples some of his stuff alone. He lost both his parents relatively recently and something tells me he deals with pain by turning inwards and playing his guitar. So, yeah. I don't think Buckethead is necessarily unhappy but I'm sure he spends a lot of time on his own and I'm sure that takes some sort of toll on a relationship, any relationship.
What I would give to see him live. He's the reason I still play guitar, everytime I watch one of his videos it just motivates me more. 234 people died from over-exposure to awesomeness. 1 day I will meet this dude lol. BH rocks!
I agree with almost all of the posts regarding Buckethead. His music and playing makes me forget about all my worries. He has somehow figured out a way to tap into the listeners soul and not let go.
