- Electric mountain bikes generally costs much more than Sur-ron Lightbee X.
Surron is obviously faster going uphill, but is it faster going down as well?!
I Love both of the bikes and rode them equally hard to find out.
Bikes in this video:
E-MTB:
Merida E160 900E
Electric Dirt Bike:
Sur-ron LightBee X Спорт
Nice great vid, so much info to take in. I have both a Sur on and a "chill" ebike; both are great and good at what they do, informative vid, -Cheers
Awesome comparison. I actually thought the gap would be wider in favor of the sur-ron . 👍👍👍very interesting
Great video! Thank you 🙏
The real Difference between sur-ron and emtb is u need to pedal more on that emtb😛
Nice!
Very interesting comparison. I've owned a SR for over two years, 6k miles. I own a Haibike FullNine and found on REALLY technical gnarly terrain the Haibike is faster downhill. BUT we are talking stuff where you are NEVER going straight, only turning. And of course what many neglect to mention is the skill of the rider. Both bikes are great. In racing 6 seconds is a lifetime. Thanks for your video.
Yea I would imagine so! I want to test on a gnarly trail but I have yet to find one that allows both the e-bike and the Surron. Would love to do another test and get some numbers!
Interesting.. But what do you say about the leg-foot position. What is best for jumping and riding ?
SUPER
My sur ron has mtb 26 front wheel. fox 49 and rear fox. 4" bar rise from stock. 52 sprocket . Higher seat 1". better brakes...its hard to beat...Great video thanks..
sounds like a solid set up!
Is it good for mb trails in trying to decide between sur on or e mb
@@clipZplugHD lighter is better for severe trails. Normal trails the sur ron is way fun. They don't allow them in many areas.
i think il get you i have Gambler 2012 and 30 kg and beter geo and larger shock with 260mm travel back and 888 full marzocchi shocks .160nm torque motor 55kmh
reaches it fast mid drive and super low center gravity just eats beter stabler and more nimble only straiths i would lose but not much gambler would be natural in descent
an 26 back and front ....i think it would be close ! 1.3kw on 30kg
Thanks! Love both not sur which one to get. I want to get exercise but need the speed as well. Not sure if mountain bike could get speed on flat trail
I have both but I have not ridden my E-mtb since I made this video haha
I like speed and I have no intrests in getting a workout lmao, SUr Ron it is for me!
hahahaa
Wow
with the e bike having a dropper post how do you get down low on the surron ?
Seems like the surron made all the time at the start of the trail on the straight and before it went downhill. It would be interesting to see what would happen on a steeper and more windier trail.
I've been wanting to do a rematch on a steep trail, but haven't had the chance yet
Also you were probably still new to the surron that's why you were braking often you don't know the most efficient feel yet. Not like your emtb you know it's limitations.
Nice job, expect to perform something like this soon, my Sur-ron X shipped yesterday. I've been on an e-mtbike (Santa Cruz Heckler) for a few years, too. I've also seen your upgrade video (and your buddy's), did expect to have to work on the suspension, you didn't have to do anything for the rear shock? I figure I'll probably at least need a more appropriate spring (am on the heavy side). i'll see what the luck of the draw did for me for the front fork soon enough....
The suspension on the new surrons have gotten better. I'm running ext rear shock. I weigh 187lb and run 500lb spring.
How do they compare?
Are you running the stock battery or is it upgraded with a controller on your Sur Ron?? Great video BTW.
100% stock power, thanks!
@@ridefarm5528 Great video idea. I love it when someone covers the exact question that pops into my head. I think you've done a lot of people a great service. Thanks!
Thanks for posting , that does not look like a proper downhill trail, it is more of a XC with some incline. I think in real downhill the Sur-ron would suffer a lot due to its 19" wheels, soft suspension, geometry and weight and would not be even close to an E->mtb. I am expecting my Light Bee soon and wil try to make a video in a more technical trail that the one you showed us. Great job!
Yeah I really wanted to test it on a DH trail but this trail was the only one we could bring the surron and emtb in :(
Did you make the video? Didn't see it
How do they compare?
Hello great video.
Have you regen on ?
Yes i have regen on. I thought about turning it off but it’s very beneficial when braking so I keep it on.
How would a regular DH bike compare would it be slower of faster than the e bike
Rougher the trail, more advantageous the mountain bike is.
I’m just waiting for someone to make a motorcycle that looks like a super light emtb.
Exactly
Which one is the most fun to ride?
I want to purchase either an electric mountain bike or a talaria, and I'm not sure which one is best for me
It's a personal preference, but the Surron is way high on the fun factor for me
Ive never heard of Shimano. Is that a good manufacturer to purchase bikes and accessories from?
Yes they have been around forever., and are a good company. Also if you have a Sur Ron the Shimano break pads for it are a great/"bang for your buck" cheap upgrade. -Cheers
Yea I'd agree- on a steeper hill that doesn't require pedaling the results will flip... at that point the extra power is irelevant and your left purely with a much heavier down hill bike. No debate on the uphill return haha.
i have a sur ron its fun
Do you recommand me getting one or it overprice?
@@matisvanasse7729 definitely get one it’s so much fun
Try "Boxxbike Valkyrie", 14 kw e bike with pedals, weight only 37kg, 240Nm torque
It costs more than double the Surron. I think at that price range, i would buy a Cake or even a brand new dirt bike
my bbs02b has 160nm and only max 1.2kw
is that sur ron stock. How are you getting 60mph?
mine is in km
日本だとオートバイで登山道は走行禁止なのでE-MTBの方が走れる場所が多い
한국말로도 설명해주시면 좋을거같아요~!!
gnarly trail dh bike winsbut dh bikewith ok torque and superior geometry balance and low center of gravity
Bro that suron is a dirtbike
Yeah so that was a bad comparison. Track wasn’t Technical enough.
finally a man with a brain
Good bike rider will always be faster as a surron downhill, sirron is to heavy to keep up
MTB for me; range.
Emtbs haf ridiculous price points. Defo not worth it.

Depends if you live close to cool bike parks or not
Theyre both electric mtbs lol niether is a dirt bike
