I'm trying to work out what you mean with it wont keep up with modern traffic I have a 1971 MGB GT standard engine only thing different is electronic ignition which most classic car drivers will agree that is a must.driving my car on either 30mph roads or motorway driving it keeps up and as you say you just keep a slightly longer distance between the car in front

      Hi Paul
      Thanks for watching.
Most MGBs are a bit tired and low on compression/torque /power or don't have good handling so might be hard to keep up.
Ones owned by enthusiasts tend to have been sorted.
      Spread the petrolhead word!

@@journeyofapetrolhead yeah I would agree with that statement I have put new parts on the car since I got it last year HT leads spark plugs oil change new air filters all of this improves the car to run better and if you have a good foundation to start with makes a difference. My car thankfully had good compression on all four cylinders which unfortunately a lot of older cars dont this requires a lot of rebuilding the engine. Will be keeping an eye out for more videos. Keep up the good work

@@bengaku You're good to go. A healthy MGB will drive in traffic and handle very well. The early models in particular are a delight to drive, actually a nimble handler and short stopping distance, enough hp for the weight of the car, when properly tuned.

@@bengaku The suspension mods done to the car improve handling to par, comparable to the earlier models, the engine mods add to the fun factor the car already has! The early pre-74 MG's really do not need suspension mods to perform at a high level. Not that upgrades would not improve handling, but for street driving the ride will be harsh, and fatiguing on a longer day trip.
Just to mention.. The original suspension is very firm, given the Armstrong shocks are not worn. The usual tube shock upgrade is not an upgrade. But of course when replacing worn shocks these would seem to be an upgrade. The lever shock is an antiquated design, however finely tuned on an MGB, exemplary street handling, ride and control.

Is the ride more firm in a GT compared to a roadster?
