Today we’re going to talk about what causes bruising without injury.
Many different things, including having a fatty liver, taking certain medications, or having a bile disorder, can increase your risk of bruising. But, the deeper cause of bruising seems to be a vitamin K1 deficiency.
Vitamin K1 is a fat-soluble vitamin stored in the liver. A few common symptoms of vitamin K1 deficiency are nose bleeds and varicose veins. The best sources of vitamin K1 are leafy green vegetables.
Vitamin K1 supports clotting without causing over-clotting. Extra vitamin K1 in the body is used for anti-inflammatory purposes or is converted into vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 helps prevent calcification in the arteries and joints and supports strong bones.
The average American only consumes one and a half cups of greens per day-you can’t get enough vitamin K1 that way.
A person’s microbes can make vitamin K1, but if there is a problem with the microbes, you can’t produce vitamin K1. Without a healthy microbiome, you also won’t be able to convert vitamin K1 to K2 or extract vitamin K1 from your food.
Iceberg lettuce is not a good source of vitamin K1, but dark leafy greens like parsley, kale, Brussels sprouts, and spinach are rich in K1.

Vitamin k1 has helped me so much. I used to bruise so bad and always read it was a Vitamin C deficiency. No, it was Vitamin k1. I hardly bruise now.
What did you eat. Please explain
Here’s some foods packed with vitamin K:
kale
collard greens
spinach
turnip greens
Brussels sprouts
broccoli
asparagus
lettuce
sauerkraut
pumpkin
pine nuts
blueberries

My mother and father, who were the same age, but living separately, both developed this bruising condition. B12 supplements turned out to be the cure for both. Keep in mind the body only absorbs a little B12 at a time, so a large dose is mostly unused. Also, the meth- form is better than the cyano- form, and the cyano- form of B12 is very commonly found in supplements.
Always get sublingual. Dissolve under tongue. Stomach function destroys if swallowed
Yes and the methyl is ESSENTIAL for those with MTFHR mutation!
Yep I use the Meth form 🙋🏽♀️
Do you guys use the liquid methyl ?

For the last 7 years, I've had extensive bruising on my lower legs, from ankles to just below my knees, mostly on the outside of my shin bones. Occasionally, blisters will pop up that last 2-5 months. Generally, there's NO pain. The colors of the bruises change throughout the day, too, which is weird. I've asked several Docs and nurses at the VA about all this. Nobody has a clue. My massage therapist is still trying to figure all this out, too. She's as baffled as everyone else is.
Dr. Berg, I started your Keto, OMAD and IF protocol 4 1/2 years ago. I regularly do extended fasting, as well. I will try the K1/K2 and see what happens. I'm so very grateful for all that you're doing for all of us! Blessings to you and your loved ones!!
Consider finding a good acupuncturist who can check your spleen. I had similar bruising years ago. My spleen was being damaged from leukemia.
@@1charlastar886 Thank you. I will check into that.
@@vickieturner8688 Welcome. The leukemia doctor said the spleen was being impacted but didn't know what to do about it. Acupuncture and castor oil packs cross that area did a lot of good. The blisters are of serious concern. The body is trying hard to detox something. All the best.
@@1charlastar886 Thank you so much for the info. I want to try the K1/K2 first. I'm preparing to do an extended fast. The longest I've gone is 14 days. Maybe I can go longer this time. I'll use the castor oil packs, too. I've used Oregano oil with great success for other issues. I've come a long way from where I started, that's for sure!! Thanks again for your suggestions! Blessings!
Vickie, does your massage include your legs? If so stop that for a period of time while you take the supplements.
Hello Dr. Berg, I am originally from Eritrea but currently live in the Netherlands. I found this video informative. Well, before I came to the Netherlands, I never noticed bruises on my body. But right now, when I bump into something like a bed or a couch, I easily see colored bruises. I thought it was due to a difference in circumstances. Thanks for sharing!

This is so interesting, couple of days ago I discovered a small bruise on my upper arm, and I know I didn't suffer an injury. And look, I get a notification from Dr.Berg about non injury bruising.
Thank you Dr. Berg. I have now been diagnosed by you twice in 3 months
I love it when you come on with another video confirming what my herbal research and experiences have shown me over the years. It's a very welcomed reassurance that I'm on the right track. I love how you explain the mechanisms behind the scenes.
I've had to combat Prednisone side effects with a family member years ago for PMR and high ocular pressures. But 6 months into treatment the bruising and bleeding sores were all over the arms. After much research I found that the capillaries at the surface were too weak and fragile. Even the slightest pressure could cause a bruise and then bleeding sores. I made a Circulation tincture and singled out Horsechestnut seeds and grape leaves specifically as a treatment along with Ginkgo, Gotu Kula, and Hawthorne berries. After another 6 months the bruising stopped and the skin returned to normal even while still on high dose (10-50mg) Prednisone. They stayed on Prednisone for another 4-5 years while still taking the tincture but thankfully, finally, got weaned off of Prednisone about 5 years ago. Fast forward to today and at age 82, after ten years of taking this Circulation tincture, they have pasted 2 vascular fishing expeditions and can't find anything wrong. And the Osteoporosis stabilized with no more bone loss.
Please keep doing your research and posting the truth for people to see for themselves.
What made the osteoporosis stabilize?
@@carla89cc 1) The Grace of the Father 2) patient stopped taking Prednisone. 3) An improved, but not perfect, diet, and 4) The careful selection of herbal tinctures and supplements.

Back in the 90s, I was deployed to Bosnia. When my company redeployed, nearly all of us tested positive for TB. We all had to take this medicine for a year and had to have monthly bloodwork. There was a rumor that this medicine was more toxic than it was helpful. Can you do a video on that?

Thank you doctor this is insightful and very helpful. I live in Togo, I had a liver condition about 3years ago and went through a very strick diet to fix it. Before that, went i was ignoring my condition, i was observing several bruising on my body especially on my arms and legs and I somehow linked it to the consumption of cabagge. This stopped during the treatment. But recently, i have started noticing some bruising again and this time it seems to be linked to sugar consumption which is rare. After watching this video I have a good undertanding of the situation.
Thank you very much for your teachings. We can't thank you enough.
Thank you Dr. Berg. This was very helpful for me.
Again such a helpful video☺️
This video is Soo true. For anyone wondering. I for one have had anemia for literally forever. And I started taking B12 and have not had No more bruising and haven't ever since starting this vitamin. I've been told that there's a lot of different forms of anemia and my doctor's over the years have never told me which I have so I have been left to figure it out myself. But I have been doing a whole lot better by just taking B12. And I am happy I don't bruise no more because that's when I would feel the absolute worse I felt like it had a hard time healing for some reason I'd just feel more fatigued when a bruise was present.
Same here. Anemia forever took

Thank you as ever. Timely info for me as I have a black finger from catching a saucepan against my ring whilst washing up. Had this for condition 3 years now, mentioned it to my GP, she said 'Oh, it sounds as if there's something going on with your capillaries'....that was the end of her assistance. I already supplement with a high quality K complex so I suspect mal absorbion from antibiotics for chronic Lyme....will try more probiotics next.....
Try niacin.. it opens the capillaries. Has to be niacin, not niacinimide. Have to take enough to get a niacin flush which is the capillaries opening.

Dr. Berg, you are an incredible source of nutritional information, I've been following your advice, referring you to friends and family.
I look forward when you cover more about the soil, I started my own mini organic garden so it would be interesting to see what benefits that brings to our health... I can already tell you that homegrown veggies taste so much better than the store ones. THis makes me wonder: Is the nutritional information for these veggies (in stores) not really what we're really getting in our diets... *OR* do the homegrown veggies have a crazy amount, like (who knows?), 10x plus so more trace minerals, and extra stuff because the plant is ripened naturally and grown in healthier soil... The difference is hard to explain to someone that hasn't had homegrown veggies, but I'll put it this way: store bought veggies are weak, like watered down versions of what they could have been, and don't have the richness and fullness of flavor. Then I suddenly understood why people don't like to eat veggies... it's because store bought veggies kind of sucks, they aren't getting the amazing flavors... I'll bet if they did, veggies would be eaten more.
And you’re absolutely right about the soil the veggies (and everything else) these days are growing in, this soil has so much less nutrients than it used to have 40-50 years ago! Even the WHO emphasizes it, that our soil (worldwide) is not as nutritious as it used to be and therefore whatever grows on/in this soil is also much less nutritious as it should be!!
You are the best Dr
Glad to be an inspiration.
Thank you Dr.

My grandmother had dark bruises all over her arms toward the end of her life. I think it was the Coumadin she was taking . She didn’t have a stroke or heart attack in her life so to me, I feel like she would’ve been fine with a daily baby aspirin.
For long over a year, I've been having outbreaks of Petechiae on my feet and ankles. They often come and go. They take about 3 to 4 days to fully disappear. And then they occasionally come back again. I don't have any other symptoms other than this, so I've been trying to supply myself with food containing Vitamin C. It has helped a little. Will try to get some Vitamin K1 and K2 now to see if I can make a further improvement :) Thanks Doc!

My Dad had ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura) and he would get random bruises. It's a red blood platelet problem where the platelets drop really low... that's when you get the bruises.
Did your dad ever find a way to manage it? My sister has it. She has nose bleeds that last up to 5 hours.

My mother in law used to always have some dark bruising on her arms which she felt self-conscious about because they looked so bad, and my husband (her son) also has the same type of thing going on. In their case it seems to be a genetic thing, although I'm not sure how all of that works or the reasons why. If my husband even lightly bumps his arm on something, sure enough a dark bruise will show up, and the resulting bruises don't go away for a very long time.

You forgot to mention Ehlers Danlos Syndrome! The connective tissue disorder makes it very easy for you to bruise from little tiny bumps into objects you don't even remember - but you end up with bruises. I developed these after my husband got the whiskey shot, right after. I woke up with it. No doubt in my mind what caused it considering it was on my inner thighs and the timing. Doctor thought it was blood platelets but it wasn't. I know they do blood transfusion for that and told her, NO VAXXED BLOOD. But it wasn't an issue since it wasn't platelets. Slowly they are fading out, mostly gone now.
