    I work for the largest eyeglasses manufacturer in the world. There is no such thing as mail order overnight glasses. The reason some of those 1 hour places in the mall can provide glasses in an hour is because they already have pre-ground lenses that are close to common prescriptions and do the final polishing and mounting on site. Even though I work in the facility that made my glasses, they still took 2 weeks to be finished. Like with anything else you can have quality, or you can have it quickly. You usually can't get both.

    • @TheDadBod
      @TheDadBod  2 года назад +12

      That’s good to know. Honestly, I’d prefer to wait and get better quality; every time. Those sunglasses from overnight glasses were expensive. Especially with the expedite fee. Woulda been nice to have them in time for my vacation.

      @@MeLrOsE429 It's hit or miss sometimes with online glasses. I got some Rx sunglasses online that are ok--the prescription, tint, and polarization are good, just not a huge fan of the frame, but it's been good enough since I only use them for driving. I got some readers--again, Rx, is good, but frame sucks. Bifocals--Rx good, but hate the frame, and because there was no optician to take additional measurements, the bifocal is too low. Lens Crafters recently took me to the cleaners, but I wanted progressives and wanted to like the frame. So I took it in the shorts this time, but I also use a different optometrist that will put new lenses in my old frames if my Rx changes in the future.

    I ordered Rx glasses from Zenni, Goggles4U, Warby Parker & from my optometrist. While my glasses from my eye doctor were the best, Zenni glasses were the best to me. The quality to me seems to be the best.

    This is great!
    As an Engineer, I needed TEST LENSES, to measure my refractive STATE accurately.
    I used these test lenses to slowly change my refraction from -1 Diopter, to +0.5 Diopters.
    That is from 20/60 to 20/20.
    A source of low cost lenses made my recovery possible.
    Thank you!

Took like close to two weeks before it gets to me..I use contacts too so I'm covered during the time it takes. I can't complain about Zennis. Great prices, mailed, and better than the extortion prices in stores. I uses to pay $300 for my Ralph Lauren and Versace lens I bought for my San Diego and Miami trips in 2012.

It was enough to convince me to use their site for my new ones this time around. I bought the same pair as last time because I loved them so much, but I did purchase a different pair for my spare glasses. However, I had to get progressive lenses this time around, and I can only hope there is no difference in lens and vision quality as their single use ones.

    Big problem with buying glasses online is people end up buying glasses that are stylish or cool and focus mainly on that because that's what is being promoted. As a result, the lens quality and vision correction is overlooked and people end up getting glasses that are low-quality and/or slightly off.

    Careful with USA as representees and supervisors do not care about the customer. They would rather cancel the order than try to help even after stringing me along for weeks. They have been in limbo. After two weeks I called and spoke to Bruno who would never answer a direct question and hung up on me twice. Ashley the supervisor lied about what we discussed. Beyond disappointed. It appears from other reviews that this may be standard business practice.

    I just ordered a pair of glasses from EyeBuyDirect.
    The temple arms are also tight, and I can hear "crackling" noises from the hinges when I both fold down the temple arms and when opening them back up. There also are very tiny holes in the frame near the location of the hinges.
    I contacted the company about it. It's not a big deal to me, I just care about being able to see and feel comfortable with wearing the frames. I told them that if the frames break down, to the point of me not being able to properly wear them anymore, I will request to have a replacement pair of the glasses sent to me. The company agreed to that.

    Hey Dad Bod, My eye Dr says the blue light blocking is a gimmick and is more of a sales pitch than a medical need. He told me that it is rarely prescribed by doctors, instead it usually offered and sold as an add-on, but traditional uv filtering is sufficient for most patients. He also told me we get more blue light outdoors than in front of a computer, and that computer monitors are already polarized, so ligt filtering lenses arent as effective as they once might have been.... SO.. since your wife works for an eye dr.... was wondering if they prescribe the blue filtering lenses. You seem to highly regard them, so perhaps you could consider doing a video discussing it and what you feel about them. I would be interested to see more about it. My eye dr seems to think my money for lens upgrades is better spend with premium AR coatings instead.

    • @TheDadBod

      They never really prescribed it. They would recommend it some.
      She doesn’t work there anymore otherwise I’d have her ask. But I can say that she and I both spend most of our day staring at a computer and we’re getting headaches. We don’t get those with our blue light glasses.

    • @EddieLlamas
      @EddieLlamas Год назад

      I've heard the same information from different sources about blue light blocking being a gimmick--just another upsell. It's not any better than just taking a break from staring at screens or sitting in one position for a long time (i.e., at a desk in front of a computer). IDK, I stare at a computer all day without blue light blocking and it doesn't affect me (headaches or eye strain) and I have zero issues falling asleep.

      i work for an ophthalmologist/optometrist. ive been doing this for 11 years, and yes, we hardly prescribe blue light glasses. it’s gimmicky for sure. it’s an add on that’s usually out of pocket since insurance only usually covers lenses with anti glare and scratch resistance. the more a patient pays out of pocket for something, the more money the office/retailer makes. your insurance reimburses only about 30%, so if they’re billed $300 for a set of frames and lenses, your doctor/retailer is only being reimbursed about $90-$100 for those $300 glasses. the more they can add on without insurance, the more they profit essentially.

    I bought two pairs from G USA . both went back the next day. single vision with 1.67 lens . the ocular /optical center was on the bottom half of the lenses ! to actually see out of them I had to place most of the frame on my forehead. I can't understand how this could be so WRONG ! I then tried EBD one pair and they are exactly what they should be. G USA made a full refund very fast. they even offered to remake them with priority. • @EddieLlamas

      Probably because the PD is not the only measurement that matters. The vertical positions of your pupils in the lens frames matter too especially when you have a strong prescription and if the lens frame is too large--and especially for bifocals or progressives. An optician will, or should, make a note on the lens order where the optical center for each lens should be, where to place the bifocals, or where the full add power on progressives should be (can vary by frame). When you enter the PD online, it's only the horizontal position of the OC. Also, many online tutorials of how to measure your own PD show you how to measure only the distance between your pupils. But often, peoples pupils aren't evenly distanced from the center of the frame, so you actually need to separate measurements for each eye, and it can depend on how the frame sits on your face. Buying glasses online is a lot of hit or miss I think.

      I've tried Progressives from Zenni and Payne Glasses and both of them I had to wear half way down my nose to see out of them. I believe I got my money back from Zenni and Payne I gave it another try. Actually, with Payne it was the 3rd time having them made. The first time the lens was made wrong and everything looked slanted and made me nauseous so they had me send them back. When they remade them they must not have referred to the photo I had uploaded so they could see how I wear my glasses. They say if you do that or helps with the line placement. I need new glasses again and I want a spare pair but I don't know if it's worth the hassle of trying to get Progressives online again.
