I wasn't totally sold on roto lights till I saw this. Man. Great results! I love using constant lighting, but the portability has aways been an issue for me and flashlights are too harsh generally.
Jason I had to watch this video twice in order to remember what it was I wanted to comment on. Your Nikon sounds like a .22 riffle every time you took a shot. I was like Jason Lanier is plinking
Hi Jason, thanks for all your videos. I know a macro lens is a better tool for the ring shots bun I don't have one at the moment. What I do have is a 70-200 like the other in your work shop. How their photos resulted with the 70-200?. Are they using extension tubes? Thanks
Thanks for your comment Pedro, I'm glad you enjoy my videos. In regards to the 70-200 they aren't using extensions. I don't know how their shots came out because I didn't see their shots after the workshop, but what I saw in their cameras looked pretty good. They weren't able to get what I got simply because a macro lens is so amazing for these types of shots...
You can get same results with reversing your normal lens. I did that alot in the past before buying a macro lens. As a matter of fact, you can get closer shots from reversing a lens than a dedicated macro lens like the nikkor 105 or canon 100 L
+Abraham Sarary there was not a lot of light. its already near sunset time or overcast. he even mentions it in the video about "...natural light shooters who have to stop shooting when it gets dark like it is now..."
Eddy Schrijvers well, I've handled my clients rings like this in over 200 weddings and not a single one has ever complained. Sorry brother, you're wrong.
Amezing shoot 👌
Great Looks!
Thanks so much Jason.

Im shooting rings and not moving objects with a Tamron 70-300 fixed at 200mm and 16mm macro tube...The results are stunning...
"you guys want a shot on this?" only one phrase i heard... nice video...

Hi Jason, I never know when in the day of a wedding to do take the ring shots. When do you normally do them? Thanks in advance
Hi Tony, I either do them before the ceremony when I arrive early or I do them at the end of the Reception when there isn't much going on...:)
would there be a better choice then a 100 mm macro 2.8 for the canon users?
+John McConnell I'm using the 50mm macro 2.5 for my wedding ring shots and the pictures are gorgeous !
Yes, sony... Welcome to 2018
Seems like you need an assistant to do this for you (Hold the rotolight). How does one use this if they are doing the wedding themselves? SOL?
+Kristen Parko small mini tripod or light stand
good job Sir
just when i thought i was the only one to use an led light to light the cake and the rings... glad to know im not crazy
Which the music video?
just curious jason why are you shooting iso2000 while you have plenty of light?
+Abraham Sarary there was not a lot of light. its already near sunset time or overcast. he even mentions it in the video about "...natural light shooters who have to stop shooting when it gets dark like it is now..."

if you handle the rings as in your video you will have +++ scratshes and fingerprints on your rings, your clients are not gonna like that....
Eddy Schrijvers well, I've handled my clients rings like this in over 200 weddings and not a single one has ever complained. Sorry brother, you're wrong.
Jason Lanier good for you :-)
