    Just know that what ever room you have this in it will make it really cold. It also has a low pitch hum. They work really well but plan on ducting with a valve. Have it open so it dumps the cold exaust air inside in summer and switch closed for me to dump outside my garage in winter. For those who don’t know a heat pump is basically an AC that is turned in reverse. It works amazing in my garage like that. Another thing I learned to do is have the water heater scheduled via the to set to 130*F from 3am to 7am then down to 115F until the garage gets hot and have a kick on so around 1 PM in the afternoon set back to 130F. What this does is it avoids my peak rate for electricity and makes my garage comfortable to work and even in summer. These really do save a ton in high electric rates if you have proper spacing or ducted and in a state like California for me it is about $900 a year savings,with 4 people over my old electric filament unit. So pays for itself in a year and half and I get free ac for my garage.

    A third Rheem hybrid water was installed Jan. 5th. It was manufactured 11/11/20. Honestly it is marginally quieter than the previous two, Nowhere near the advertised 49-50 dbl. It is installed in my finished garage that is under the house, in a corner so it has concrete walls on two sides. On this unit the Econet module has never worked. It was on back order and is scheduled to arrive this week. We can still hear it running in the entryway and adjacent den. We have either gotten use to it or decided it is no worse than hearing our heat pump forced air system, the dishwasher, etc. So we are going to keep this on since I doubt any others would be quieter. I will replace the Econet module myself.

    Maciej...I've been investigating options to replace my 13 yr old GE WH and I've been on the fence about which way to go. After watching your video, I'd say I'm now 99% sure I want to go HYBRID. Of all the installation videos, yours is without a doubt the cleanest install. I live in Davie so we're practically neighbors. My WH is also in the garage and I would have to modify my piping. Do you have a diagram of your piping because it would be similar to what I'd need to do? I really like the Rheem(without leakguard) because of the EcoNet technology. The cheapest I've found it is around $1375 at my local plumbing outlet. Home Depot only seems to carry the model with Leakguard($1499)! How did you get it for $1000? Great job on the video and any suggestions/help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

      I installed mine my the utility room off of the garage. If you really want to save money - if you own a ranch style house especially - run a 8 inch duct up to the attic and pull air from the attic on the intake side (you will need their adapter unless you can make one). And set the schedule to run in the afternoon when the attic is warmest. Works great at least where I live in North Carolina....

    • @MaciejPiotrowski
      @MaciejPiotrowski  3 года назад

      Romany Kemp good tip. I live in FL and my unit is in garage where there is 90+ F in the summer. With this unit there I was able to drop temp in my garage by about 10F. There is plenty of hot temps in garage so I don’t need to connect it to my attic. I'm not engineer, but don't you worry about disrupting proper attic ventilation by putting a duct to the attic to suck the air? Hot air should rise and exit at the top of the roof, not being sucked at the bottom of it.

    • @romanykemp9042
      @romanykemp9042 3 года назад +1

      @@MaciejPiotrowskiSo I am "pulling" attic air into the garage - but I have an opening back to the attic in another part of the garage - so the same volume of air removed from the attic is returned. One would think that hotter (attic) air would be more efficient in heating water - how much is anyone guess. I'm tracking my usage so it should be interesting to see how much of a saving I'll get when summer arrives. I'll also find out how "cool" the exhaust air is after going thru the compressor - I'm assuming it will be stay about 20 degree cooler than the inlet air. If that correct if it 115 degree in the attic the exhaust would be around 95. If it 100 degrees coming out of the tank that would suck...But it would be easy to revert to the way you are doing it during the summer months...I can tell a difference in how long the compressor runs in the afternoon when it say 35 degrees outside or it 50 degrees. If it never warms above 35 the compressor normallys runs the 5 hours I have it set for...if it warmer outside it will reach it program temp and turn off prior to my schedule setting turning it off...

      Hybrid means that it uses electricity and heat from the outside to heat the water. You don't need to run any ducts. That's the beauty.
