The mask thing is so dumb for 3 major reasons. 1) we’re gonna have to put the hat on for every single outfit while making a Star Wars alien.. 2) aliens having babies will always give birth to human sims that won’t even look like their parents until they’re teens, and 3) think about the immersion that’s gonna be lost while they’re showering and can’t wear a hat... 🙃
It's such a bummer that the "aliens" are just mask, gloves, and thigh-high socks. What if you wanted to make an "alien" living in Willow Creek? No swimsuit for that sim ever? No shorts? No short sleeves? They weren't even given consideration to fit in anywhere other than -Batuu, which just serves to support the idea this isn't a game pack for sims 4, it's a standalone that should have its own separate space. It would've been nice for storytelling purposes to be able to use those alien styles with regular CAS items, just for those of us not over the moon about a Star Wars RPG.
Yeah, the lack of consideration for SW Sims in Willow Creek reeks of Disney's meddling. They're famously controlling of how their IP is depicted, so I guess they don't want us making alien Sims... same reason the "dwelling" woohoo is so bland and devoid of romance. Can't have SEX in Star Wars! :o
We at least have some conservative swim/workout gear that came with the Muslim update, and the diving gear from Island Living. We can at least use those and just pretend it's not a mask. Of course, if you want alien babies or to make an alien that is comfortable showing their skin, it's an issue. But it's still something I guess... And we've got the blue/green/purple/etc. skin tones from the Get To Work aliens so we could make a somewhat convincing Twi'lek that could have "hybrids" with humans but it'd be hard for all the other aliens.
It didn't even cross my mind that the Aliens seen in the trailer could have been occults. I expected so little from this game pack that I knew it would be masks right away.
I would've preferred when you create an alien, you can choose which species they are. I also hate the textures for kylo ren's robe, it looks like alpha cc

i wish they would've added the star wars aliens to the existing alien system, like as preset faces (and have the faces as skin details, kinda like they did with vampires)... there's no reason why they can't add to something that came in another pack, they've done it before
Except they aimed this at star wars fans, who don't necessarily already own GTW and it would be very odd to expect them to pay for base game, the star wars dlc AND a full expansion pack. And another difference to MFPS is that you would absolutely NEED the gtw aliens if the batuu townies are all supposed to exist to play any aspect of this new pack, while you technically can play MFPS without Cats and Dogs, half of the assets just won't be useful in game bc they're for cats and dogs.. and I can't believe I'm defending MFPS right now, but here we are 🤣

I'm waiting for the CC mod to come out that moves the alien masks to skin details, or a better suited category. What I had been hoping for was that they would be new genetics for aliens.. :( That way when your alien Sims had babies, they could look like the species their parents are. But I suppose that would have been too much effort as they'd need to add them to babies, toddlers, and children... such a missed opportunity, though!!!
Since aliens are part of the Get to Work expansion pack, I guess they didn't want a repeat of My First Pet Stuff and have it be dependent on people already owning that pack. Having said that, there's no reason why they couldn't just make the Star Wars aliens separate aliens from the ones in Get to Work.
Elanor Critchley move the skin to skin detail, and complete the body. Did you notice that the whole midsection of most of alien skins is human still? They didn’t even complete it!

I've only ever had the base game with Get To Work as I was a little late to finding the game and bought them together when GTW came out. Guru Romeo has actually since clarified a little that the masks are treated like aliens while on Batuu and the reason that they are separate is that Star Wars aliens don't have any powers like Sims aliens do, and instead SW aliens are more like humans. Though apparently the First Order won't let your Sim join if you're an alien (a Batuu alien I think?) so turns out they're racist bad guys I guess 🤔 (I'm not a SW fan so I don't know if they are racist to aliens in the films or anything)

Elanor Critchley good to hear they are aliens on batuu. But by not making them an occult, they made them not genetic. So no alien babies. Also one can’t romance one and take them home as a husband or wife? And they won’t remain aliens once you take them out of batuu (if that is even possible... or with MCCC). I know some people prefer Star Wars to be self-contained. I guess it is good to not to be able to have Bella goth randomly walk around in Star Wars. Like that is annoying with RoM and I use a mod for that. I want to choose who is a magic user and not just give it to any randomly established towny. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want Star Wars NPCs to be barred from walking amongst us in the rest of world. I run a sci-fi fantasy world. My Goth family ARE steampunk magic users. Nancy Landgraabs is a vampire. The occults are basically rival royals behind each world. So to me it renders the Star Wars game a little less useful if I can’t have the aliens come to my other worlds and still be aliens.
Yeah the overtly “Star Wars” category for the two aspirations and the bonus trait (fills up needs....) is enough for me to realize this entire pack is more on the surface for Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge attraction than adding lore to TS4
Because the last one is a recolour of one of the SW costumes we already had in the game. That one already was full body. They didn't want to do that also for the rest because that takes more work and this is EA we're talking about.
the darth maul one was pretty much just like these. it was just the aayla secura one that wound up being full-body, so they pretty much ported over the maul version for all the other races and the secura version for the twi'leks
Oh my god. If you use CC, boy do I have a couple CC makers with BOMB curly hair (maxis match). I have them on so many of my sims now and I ain't ever gonna stop. some came from 'AHarris00Britney' and QICC or 'quirkyintrovert' (both on tumblr but just google them and you'll see it) 'okuree' (just a few but definitely some wavy styles for guys). Sorry if this is unwanted but for anyone wanting more maxis match curly/wavy or even straight hair, these guys' cc are glorious
It’s the fact that the clothing FROM THE SAME PACK isn’t even compatible with the masks because you can see the Sim’s skin colour underneath where it doesn’t cover the torso for me
I'm mad about the masks, I understand it's probably Disney's fault but I wished they were alien details. But I actually like the clothes, they're really nice, but yeah we need more different styles in the sims
Why would it be Disney's fault that they are masks? Disney is not so granular that they would be into the details of no you can't create a new life state, you must create masks. The decision not to create new life states came from the head of the Sims team not Disney.
Imagine this: Create new sim Occult sim Alien Sixam alien(requires get to work) and batuu alien(requires journey to batuu) Each batuu alien have their own independent skin colors That would be a hell of a lot better then this
Are you sure? Because right now they seemed to have pissed off both the sims community for a pack simmers don’t want and the Star Wars community for a sloppy pack. So if all of this was to draw in Star Wars fans, it was a fail? As a fan of both sims and Star Wars, I was cautiously excited for this pack. Now I am pretty annoyed and probably will shuffle this to the bottom of my sims priority packs priority list. A pack with three buildings, no new occult/fake aliens, no capacity to build long term relationships between my sim and the sims on batuu because this pack is too self contained (like I can’t have a sim have a getaway romance with an NPC and bring home an alien partner), I see no point to this pack. My entire sims world is sci-fi/fantasy. So aside from the cool objects, there is nothing here for my game now.

14:27 isn't QUITE Leia's Endor costume from Return of the Jedi, but it's damn close. Gotta admit, I'm liking the CAS. Though not making the various alien masks alter the entire skintone (except for the Twi'leks) was... a choice, and one I'll need mods for. It's like they didn't even consider that we'll want our aliens to bathe, or go swimming.
Even if I had been interested in getting the pack, the fact that all the "aliens" are hats puts me way off. I can already imagine random townies in Willow Creek or Windenburg walking around with Star Wars heads. Until they add an option to disable certain outfits and clothing items from being used by NPC sims, I have no interest in adding to the existing chaos.

I'm getting the feeling that Disney put way too many restrictions/requirements in this pack, including Kylo Ren's clothes, being unable to bring stuff from the other sims worlds, places you can explore (most of the decorative stuff is just shops in the parks), and the fact that you can't romance Kylo and Rey. Most of the gameplay reminds me a lot of the scanning mobile game in the parks as well.
Fun fact: that full body feminine outfit that you really liked (the default swatch is green) is based on Leia's costume on Endor in Return of the Jedi 😊
I feel like they missed an opportunity to update aliens. I'm sure other people have said this but it just REALLY feels like a missed opportunity. I say this as someone who DOES play aliens so I'm really feeling it.
Okay so I like the hairs and the clothes. I love the kids and todd stuff. I hate that the bodies aren't fully colored and the wraps of the bottoms are off. If they could fix those 2 things I'd be happy! And I imagine we can make an alien and dress them in this stuff that way creating a 'different species'.
I really like the detailing on the clothing for this pack. I can see a lot of uses for these items even outside the Star Wars area. But that's just me.
Thanks for this, Mollie. You're the only one I've seen who sort of got the cosplay thing that (I think) they were going for. Especially since Battu is a destination world. My guess is that is why the new 'aliens' are masks. The point seems to be for your sims to go on an immersive Star Wars vacation (basically to Disney, just without the Magic Kingdom). Not sure why they didn't actually market it that way, however. Still not sure if I'll buy it or not.
Disneybounding can be for a specific character. People use the colors of the character design in everyday clothing. Sometimes even if vintage-type clothing, especially on Dapper Days.

Fun fact, the feminine shorts/skirt combo is literally a costume piece worn by the cast members in real life Galaxy's edge! It's the only shorts option for those female cast members working in the California/Florida heat.
I'm actually not surprised the alien faces are under hats and that they add extra skin detail on the arms and legs, because that is how Aayla Secura's face has worked ever since we got Star Wars outfits., so it makes sense. I'm even more excited about the pack now!

Don't mind the clothes. Kind of gutted about not being able to make the choice of having an alien race sim. And the hat thing is confusing but I have to say, my imagination is still running away with all sorts of ideas to play with this pack. I might get more use out of it than I actually thought
Maybe I'm alone with this, but I feel like this CAS looks really good with Eco Lifestyle. It looks really really beautiful. I also feel like they're a great for some of my older/elder Sims or to add diversity in how my Sims dress. I'm disappointed that I can't make a little alien family though.
One thing I just realized with the alien “hats” in this pack is “what if you don’t want to dress in batuu clothes and wanted to go swimming?” Like you’d just have these random places where the mask and gloves stops?
Some of the clothes could work to give a sim a bit of an artsy /Japanese vibe. I have seen clothes in Tokyo stores that looked similar. A new take on classic Japanese styles. Maybe that's were the star wars costume designers got their inspiration from? The last star wars movie I have seen was the "Return of the Jedi" in the early 80s... I just remember Darth Vader's black robe and mask and Leia's ear hair snails...lol.
I really love the outfits tbh. Casual, could be used for lowkey fantasy or medieval inspired Sims, pretty androgynous. I'd wear outfits like that in real life tbh

The clay hair really doesn't work all hair types and it annoys me so much, cuz my Sims with curly hair or afros do not have that option. WE NEED MORE INCLUSIVITY IN A LIFE SIMULATION GAME! YES FOR MORE SKIN TONES AND HAIR TYPES. Also this is why i use alpha cc

I don't see myself buying the pack since I'm not really a big Star Wars fan (though I don't hate the franchise either). But, the toddler clothes are super cute! I could definitely see a normal toddler rocking the Rey hair and the coat. I'll wait for someone to make some CC for toddlers...

I am really liking CAS. Now I just need a super-glue mod so that the "hat" stays on my alien sims at all time. Whish they had been skindetails but oh well.

The more I think about it, the more I think that The Sims were just not quite ambitious enough. It like they just were ticking boxes for the EA overlords. If they had gone Maximum effort on this, they could have made it in to the most epic Expansion pack instead of a strange choice for a game pack. I feel like there's too many restrictions on a Game Pack for something that goes as deep as Star Wars does and it would have opened up the option of occults and being able to have alien babies and not having to have "masks" to make your sim look like an alien. They could have done an On Off option for it like they did with EcoLifestyle. I feel if they had gone balls to the walls with an expansion pack, they would have won over a lot of those people who werent sure about the Star Wars choice and made a lot of us who were excited seriously over the moons with this pack. There are missed opportunities here.
I am not in love with it, but I don't hate it. I'm disappointed that aliens aren't aliens...we have aliens already and the coding for the details shouldn't be so strange. But some of the clothing items could find use in through the ages challenges if you squint a bit; there are historical references there that styled with other items could give off the right feel in the menswear. I'm trying so hard to be positive.
ha, i was thinking similarly. "oh man, some of these outfits would be great for expanding the outfits my spellcasters wear". some of the zabrak horns and makeup options might even work on a few of the magical creature options i've got (elves of various stripes, ifrit and the like)
The Kylo mask having obvious mesh issues is... a bad sign. I wouldn't be that disappointed in the aliens as masks thing if they covered the whole body... it looks SO lazy. It would've been nice to have some more things from the original trilogy, it's also kinda disappointing to see that they just focused on the sequels. I wish there were, in general, more costumes from actual characters, because then those could double as Halloween costumes for your normal Sims. I really love the recent thing where they include the hairstyles for children, too. I wish they had been doing that from the start. And at least we can finally do what Disney was too cowardly for, and make Finn/Poe canon. And I'm definitely giving Rey an alien girlfriend.

It’s the fact that the clothing FROM THE SAME PACK isn’t even compatible with the masks because you can see the Sim’s skin colour underneath where it doesn’t cover the torso for me
I'm mad about the masks, I understand it's probably Disney's fault but I wished they were alien details. But I actually like the clothes, they're really nice, but yeah we need more different styles in the sims
Why would it be Disney's fault that they are masks? Disney is not so granular that they would be into the details of no you can't create a new life state, you must create masks. The decision not to create new life states came from the head of the Sims team not Disney.

Are you sure? Because right now they seemed to have pissed off both the sims community for a pack simmers don’t want and the Star Wars community for a sloppy pack. So if all of this was to draw in Star Wars fans, it was a fail? As a fan of both sims and Star Wars, I was cautiously excited for this pack. Now I am pretty annoyed and probably will shuffle this to the bottom of my sims priority packs priority list.
A pack with three buildings, no new occult/fake aliens, no capacity to build long term relationships between my sim and the sims on batuu because this pack is too self contained (like I can’t have a sim have a getaway romance with an NPC and bring home an alien partner), I see no point to this pack. My entire sims world is sci-fi/fantasy. So aside from the cool objects, there is nothing here for my game now.
Aaand there goes any shred of interest that I could've had in this pack, guaranteed no buy from me. I expected the "aliens" would just be masks, yet I'm still disappointed somehow.
The fact that they're not only masks but also just socks/gloves instead of a full recolor of a sim is just...so lazy to me.
What if I wanna make a skimpy alien? I can't do that if their entire core is just regular sim skin...

Though not making the various alien masks alter the entire skintone (except for the Twi'leks) was... a choice, and one I'll need mods for. It's like they didn't even consider that we'll want our aliens to bathe, or go swimming.
Even if I had been interested in getting the pack, the fact that all the "aliens" are hats puts me way off. I can already imagine random townies in Willow Creek or Windenburg walking around with Star Wars heads. Until they add an option to disable certain outfits and clothing items from being used by NPC sims, I have no interest in adding to the existing chaos.
They said that the alien hats and stuff are only going to be limited to the batuu world. So no random alien townies

I'm not into this pack but appreciate you taking the time showing us this. The normal-ish stuff doesn't look too bad.
I'm getting the feeling that Disney put way too many restrictions/requirements in this pack, including Kylo Ren's clothes, being unable to bring stuff from the other sims worlds, places you can explore (most of the decorative stuff is just shops in the parks), and the fact that you can't romance Kylo and Rey. Most of the gameplay reminds me a lot of the scanning mobile game in the parks as well.
The idea is to promote the disney world park of star wars not the movie

I feel like they missed an opportunity to update aliens. I'm sure other people have said this but it just REALLY feels like a missed opportunity. I say this as someone who DOES play aliens so I'm really feeling it.
Okay so I like the hairs and the clothes. I love the kids and todd stuff. I hate that the bodies aren't fully colored and the wraps of the bottoms are off. If they could fix those 2 things I'd be happy! And I imagine we can make an alien and dress them in this stuff that way creating a 'different species'.
I really like the detailing on the clothing for this pack. I can see a lot of uses for these items even outside the Star Wars area. But that's just me.

Thanks for this, Mollie. You're the only one I've seen who sort of got the cosplay thing that (I think) they were going for. Especially since Battu is a destination world. My guess is that is why the new 'aliens' are masks. The point seems to be for your sims to go on an immersive Star Wars vacation (basically to Disney, just without the Magic Kingdom). Not sure why they didn't actually market it that way, however. Still not sure if I'll buy it or not.
Disneybounding can be for a specific character. People use the colors of the character design in everyday clothing. Sometimes even if vintage-type clothing, especially on Dapper Days.

Fun fact, the feminine shorts/skirt combo is literally a costume piece worn by the cast members in real life Galaxy's edge! It's the only shorts option for those female cast members working in the California/Florida heat.
I'm actually not surprised the alien faces are under hats and that they add extra skin detail on the arms and legs, because that is how Aayla Secura's face has worked ever since we got Star Wars outfits., so it makes sense. I'm even more excited about the pack now!

Don't mind the clothes. Kind of gutted about not being able to make the choice of having an alien race sim. And the hat thing is confusing but I have to say, my imagination is still running away with all sorts of ideas to play with this pack. I might get more use out of it than I actually thought

Maybe I'm alone with this, but I feel like this CAS looks really good with Eco Lifestyle. It looks really really beautiful. I also feel like they're a great for some of my older/elder Sims or to add diversity in how my Sims dress. I'm disappointed that I can't make a little alien family though.
I don't mind the skirt over pants look. I often pair skirts with leggings/shorts so I don't have to sit lady like. So pants aren't all that different.
I really like that look on Sims! I use the Eco one all the time, haha

One thing I just realized with the alien “hats” in this pack is “what if you don’t want to dress in batuu clothes and wanted to go swimming?” Like you’d just have these random places where the mask and gloves stops?
Some of the clothes could work to give a sim a bit of an artsy /Japanese vibe. I have seen clothes in Tokyo stores that looked similar. A new take on classic Japanese styles. Maybe that's were the star wars costume designers got their inspiration from? The last star wars movie I have seen was the "Return of the Jedi" in the early 80s... I just remember Darth Vader's black robe and mask and Leia's ear hair snails...lol.

So that Twi'lek is probably a tweaked version of the one already in game as it changes the whole skin tone, so why couldnt they do that with all the hats or whatever they are?

I don't see myself buying the pack since I'm not really a big Star Wars fan (though I don't hate the franchise either). But, the toddler clothes are super cute! I could definitely see a normal toddler rocking the Rey hair and the coat. I'll wait for someone to make some CC for toddlers...

The more I think about it, the more I think that The Sims were just not quite ambitious enough. It like they just were ticking boxes for the EA overlords. If they had gone Maximum effort on this, they could have made it in to the most epic Expansion pack instead of a strange choice for a game pack. I feel like there's too many restrictions on a Game Pack for something that goes as deep as Star Wars does and it would have opened up the option of occults and being able to have alien babies and not having to have "masks" to make your sim look like an alien. They could have done an On Off option for it like they did with EcoLifestyle. I feel if they had gone balls to the walls with an expansion pack, they would have won over a lot of those people who werent sure about the Star Wars choice and made a lot of us who were excited seriously over the moons with this pack. There are missed opportunities here.
I am not in love with it, but I don't hate it. I'm disappointed that aliens aren't aliens...we have aliens already and the coding for the details shouldn't be so strange. But some of the clothing items could find use in through the ages challenges if you squint a bit; there are historical references there that styled with other items could give off the right feel in the menswear. I'm trying so hard to be positive.
Finally some clothes that fit with ROM. The clothes in that pack are so unusable because they match with nothing else... until now :)
ha, i was thinking similarly. "oh man, some of these outfits would be great for expanding the outfits my spellcasters wear". some of the zabrak horns and makeup options might even work on a few of the magical creature options i've got (elves of various stripes, ifrit and the like)

The Kylo mask having obvious mesh issues is... a bad sign. I wouldn't be that disappointed in the aliens as masks thing if they covered the whole body... it looks SO lazy. It would've been nice to have some more things from the original trilogy, it's also kinda disappointing to see that they just focused on the sequels. I wish there were, in general, more costumes from actual characters, because then those could double as Halloween costumes for your normal Sims.
I really love the recent thing where they include the hairstyles for children, too. I wish they had been doing that from the start. And at least we can finally do what Disney was too cowardly for, and make Finn/Poe canon. And I'm definitely giving Rey an alien girlfriend.
