I've had mine for...at least 3 yrs? Great little amp. Hmm, ok, I just went and checked my Sweetwater purchase history, my mistake, I ordered mine 1/10/2013! Wow, time goes by fast! Well I can attest to the fact I've used it nearly every single day, most the time multiple times, and never had a problems with it:)
this is a good amp for practicing by yourself but if your in a punk or heavy metal band don't buy it step up and get the big daddy amp 300 watt amp more power won't blow up like this thing I was told by another musician friend never buy these little amps if your playing heavy music they don't last very long
It's November 2023 as of this reply, I just bought mine, and I have 5 different Ampeg model amps, and I use this Micro CL more than the others and I just bought it a month ago. It's worth every penny.
It's a tempting little amp. I hope you do a side by side with VR when it arrives. I've been considering one or the other to pair up with a Squier Bass VI.
I recently got a new bass for recording with but then have found I bloody love playing it, told myself I don't need an amp I can just use the UAD SVT that has worked great so far, but then I saw these and now I want one just because it looks cool
I like the fact that you can rotate the logo to use the cabinet sideways. Unfortunately if you crank it, the cabinet rattles because I guess it isn't as sturdily constructed as the head.
really works there with the 'P' I think. For solid-state and the size of these babies, I am really impressed with the tone and punch from them...'Nice!!' , A nice wee compact effects unit will go well with these wee guys as well I think
@@alansamsmusic are you using it here mate or is this just the straight thru/Amp sound? Nice anyways. I have a ZoomB3 thingy which is useful but I will remember that thanks!! :)
@@alansamsmusic thought that, you can just tell. I used to have an Ampeg solid state head, one of the 450's but tone-wise I actually think that this one sounds much more like the real tone. Would be nice to hear the 200 one with an extension Cab too..Thanks mate / nice job!! :)
@@discotex2236 I’m not 100% sure of the wood that they used, but I know the cabinet is really well built. I’ve had this for a few years now and I use it to practice with my band. Sweetwater has the cabinet weighing in at 33 pounds if I had to guess I’d say it’s heavier than that and it’s built like a tank.
I'm looking for this type of amp to play in my small living room. Is the power not too strong so as not to disturb the neighbors? I'm hesitating with a Vox Super Beetle Bass
I've actually been using this amp at band practice and its actually louder than what I first thought. It's a powerful little amp and depending on how much you push it you may get a knock on the door from the neighbors. Thank you for watching the video
Some of that may be coming from the background noise in the room. Also the Pbass and Ric are both a little noisy on their own. I know the fan on the 200 watt head is loud.
I am looking for a bigger amp right now and I have heard few complaints about these, how is yours? Besides I am worried that most of these smaller solid-state amps can sound too clean but I guess that isn't the case with this one. I'd be happy if it has its own color with its pre-set eq curve and harmonic distortion and the cab with some character from its bigger brother.
This is a great practice amp, but if you're looking for something that's going to have some oomph behind it you might want to look at something bigger. This is great for practice and maybe a small venue. Thanks for checking out the video
@@Cake_Doge you might want to check out the Ampeg Rocket Bass RB-115 1x15. 200 watts with a 15. That would give you plenty of low end. Plus those amps have the over drive circuit. The Fender Rumble amps also offer some great practice amps.
@@alansamsmusic I will, there was one B100R for sale the previous gen of rocket basses but people always told it was great for vintage tones, so I didn’t make a move
Why not? I suppose if you want to feel it for the presence then probably not but a couple of good mics if nothing else and it will punch through just fine I would imagine, hell I would rather load in with the mini over it’s big brother anyday
A VERY GOOD AMP ( AFTER ALL IT'S AN AMPEG ) BUT IT'S NOT PERFECT...IT DOES NOT HAVE COMPRESSOR OR LIMITER...IT DOES NOT HAVE CHORUS OR REVERB OR ANY OTHER MODULATION EFFECTS...PLUS IT'S A LITTLE BIT HEAVY FOR MY TASTE...
its a LOT louder than I thought it would be. Playing in my den with volume on 1 is more than enough

They are cool little amps, the head has a line out on it so you can DI record with it.
These things are also great amps for jazz guitarists, they sit great in a mix with a big band.
That's cool to get a different perspective on the use of the amp.

Sure wish I could get my Ampeg to vibrate like that on them E's.
Is the cabinet made with real plywood or particle board?

Thank you
I just bought one of these from Sweetwater and haven’t opened it yet 👍
Do you know if it's good gor a live rock concert with loud drums and all? On a medium or small venue

@@alansamsmusic Isn't the 100 Watt CL a fanless amp head?
Did you ever get the VR Micro for comparison???
Actually I did not. I started playing in a band again and needed to put my money into a setup that I could gig out with.

I want to pair the head with the svt 15 cabinet!
Is this enough to play with a drummer and two guitars ?
This would probably be good for a small gig or practice. There is a 200 watt version that would be better in a band situation.
many say that it is a bit loud while only ON,without playing. Is it true ?
I had the big one. That was loud!
it is possible to connect the ampeg 1x15 cabinet of 200 watts at 8 ohms to that head??
Not this one I don't think, the silver one yes
I’m thinking of buying this bass amp. I’m still on the fence

Can i play guitar with this amp
Sure you could play a guitar through this... you just don't have the built in reverb or overdrive channel.
Can you do a demo using a 5 string please
So probably not great for on stage performances huh?
