  • So you may be wondering which expansion for Guild Wars 2 you need to buy in order to play everything. You might be looking at the packages confused what they contain and what the differences are. Heart of thorns? Path of fire? End of dragons? Secrets of the obscure? What even is this living world thing you're reading about? In this video i hope to clarify a bit of that and provide you with an easy path to buy everything. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments.

    One caveat regarding Living World Season 2: If you've just played the personal story and Season 1 and want to continue straight with the story, it's extremely unlikely that you have anywhere near enough gold to buy Season 2 in-game. However, since it's the only paid content without new maps and basically just story instances as well as Achievements/Items (that you don't really need), you can actually play it with someone who owns it if you join their party in case you know someone who plays and doesn't mind replaying the content. Alternatively, this is the season most replacable by recaps/watching RUclips playthroughs and that way, you can go straight to Heart of Thorns and have a ton of content AND ways to make gold for further seasons for little real money.
    If you have the budget, though, I still like the story instances and think they're worth playing, but that's a low-budget alternative.

      Thanks for this comment! You are absolutely correct and I kinda forgot to mention that you can play along with someone. The only main downside is the fact you're missing out on mastery points if I remember correctly. Although you can always buy it later for that reason. I'm gonna pin your comment as I think it's a valuable addition :)

    My advice a new player that picked all content up during holidays for cheap. Dont feel pressures to do so if u can miss the money i advice buying all content for cheap and if not i advice soto or Hot and poh pack because hot and poh guve most value for money and it will take a good time to go through them

    If it's expensive buy all of them on sales during black Friday, Halloween, Christmas they went 70% off this last year and you buy it for once even the living world seasons are usually on big sales for 80% off for once for your whole account for all of your characters tell me what other MMO give all of that lol

    For how 'expensive' all expansions + Living World seem to be, everyone gets hundreds upon thousands of hours of gameplay, including collections for mounts and legendary crafting - to name an example. And you can stop and pick GW2 up where you have stopped playing, while other MMOs leave you in the dirt when there is a new expansion with newer gear and the like.
    I recently stopped playing FF14 because i was burnt out by it/FF14 and i didn't want to pay monthly anymore, which is a fair comparison. And the funny thing about the monthly sub is, that once i have tried to calculate the yearly sub fee, it was at around 150-ish Euros. May be even a bit more because of the cents.

      I definitely agree with all your points. The game looks expensive up front but doesn't require any further investment. Also the fact that the endgame from all the older xpacs is still relevant makes them insane value

    Great, looks like I missed the sale by a week. Just installed this last night. No way I'm paying full price for expansions when I know they go on sale.

    • @EkayTech
      @EkayTech  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah it really sucks when that happens. They go on sale quite frequently though. Hope you still have a good amount of the base game to play to spend on while waiting 😅

      @@mrsparkle001 Ah you have a ton of game ahead of you then. You could always look into grabbing just the HoT + PoF bundle if you want to get rid of the f2p stuff. You can still buy the EoD + Soto expansions seperate on sale later. Obviously depends on your ability to freely spend money :)

    isn't there some gated content in the living worlds? Tower of nightmare or something for which you require a group? I remember quitting at this wall.

    • @EkayTech
      @EkayTech  5 месяцев назад

      As far as i can remember from memory there is no content in the game that forces you to group outside of instanced content (raids, fractals).
      You do play through the tower of nightmares in a group but it's pretty much like an open world event and rarely fails from my experience.
      Maybe you needed to group back when season 1 was first released? I can't remember how it worked back then.

    If you've already made the decision to waste money on this game and you're a new player. Buy soto. Gives you access to all the weapons without needing to do a hero point train to unlock an entirely new specialization. It also gives you a way to grab yourself a skyscale. Everything after that point will be much easier for you to progress your account if you even want to keep playing.

    "expensive" ... try to get someone to play destiny 2 with you. to play everything and every raid and dungeon you over 200 euro. and story wise you can play everything in around a week. guild wars 2 offers so much more for so little.

    • @EkayTech
      @EkayTech  6 месяцев назад +2

      Wow is it really that bad? I mean gw2 is fairly expensive relative to the other big mmo's where you generally just buy the latest xpac. Even for 125 the content you get is well worth the money imo.
      So does Destiny 2 just force you to buy everything full price or something? I remember playing it years ago but never really got too deep into it.

      @@EkayTech the make sometimes like bundle prices and stuff, but also like seperate the dungeons, what are kinda lika a small raid for 3 persons, from the initial seasons so that you either get the deluxe edition from the annual expansion with all 4 seasons in it and the dungeons, or you go the other route.

    which expansion do you get if you want to be viable in PVP and WvW?

    • @EkayTech
      @EkayTech  3 месяца назад +1

      Can't really give you a specific one but the hot and pof bundle gives you a lot of the specs needed. It depends on the class and spec that you want to play.
