Awesome review Johnny! I looked at one of these just last night and was so surprised at how much the price has gone up. Amazing package and probably what the M3 should have evolved to from the E46. Nobody will complain they made a naturally aspirated V8, but this would have been more true to the evolution in my opinion.

I respect the swap but as a previous S65 owner I don’t understand why people put an engine with no torque in these, I can’t see it being as fun. Yes they sound great but I assume it’s a little heavier and will throw off the balance of the car a little? Either way I hope the swap goes smoothly! I'm a massive BMW fan, and serial owner.
When these came out, I thought wow, a small, 6 cylinder, coupe, this will be great.
Then I saw it, what an fugly horrid thing. I never liked the awful sad looking front lights, the dumpy rear end, the slab of bodywork above the rear wheels, and the chopped off back end like a compact.
The only reason they are worth so much is because they are rare, that is all.
My OG M2 is what the 1M should have been.

@@BMW1M I fully 'get' the whole wild car and trying to tame it thing mate.
My last car was a tuned M140i, 455bhp/634nm through an open diff, it was dangerous but great fun. I had it for 4 years like that, and thought I had the taming of it's wild ways. Sideways regularly, but I hit a patch of diesel on a dual carriageway last year, in traction off mode, and it spat me round 180 in a split second, I left the road backwards into a tree and wrote it off.
The M2 is much more predictable, sideways at the slightest provocation but the LSD makes it much easier to control.
Gotta admit, the OG M2 is a good looking car, all the angles are just so right.

Dealer mark-ups above MSRP are largely only seen in the US dealership system and are very, very rare in Australia. We had to scramble here to get a 1M allocation, but I don't remember any dealers charging extras above list. I got mine from BMW Sydney and I paid MSRP. No offense to the owner, but you should try driving a stock 1M . . . you might prefer it to the tuned version!

That 1M has the same engine as the 335is I had when I was younger which was the N54 It was an amazing car and so so so fast. But man it was so so so unreliable. Idk if i had a dud or what but out of the 2 years i owned it it sat in the shops for 1 whole year out of the 2 years i owned it. I was literally driving loaner cars for 1 whole year on and off.
All work done by BMW themselves which mostly was under warranty but after the warranty it got very expensive quick.
I hear mix things about the N54 some had bad experiences like me. And some swear by them. So i have very mix feeling about them. Love BMW to death.

Purposeful and focused car. It’s 6 hundredths of a second quicker than a bone stock BMW 330e.

Absolutely a beautiful piece of machinery. Now lets get down to business-tell us how it feels when heel and toeing. Is there enough room in the back seat for after hours entertainment??? Choose a friend and from now on let’s always have a section that we can enjoy

Im sorry but ill always disagree. The 1M isnt worth 80k theyre asking right now. The upgrades compared to the 135i is very minimal. The M3 suspension is fairly cheap. The engine is the same. The interior in that one is the base model 1M interior. No roll cage or racing seats that came in the 1M. Might as well get a 135i and just put the widebody kit from the 1M and youre set for less than 3 times the cost of a 1M.

Bmw and Audi are some of the best built cars you can get. Most problems occur from spirited driving, which you don't get in a Toyota camry. Now if you can. Check a ten year old BMW compared to a 10 year old Japanese or Korean car. One is not like the other. Bmw and Audi won't even have a loose stitch in the leather.

Naa m lite car is no match for a real M car, yeah the B58 engine in the 140i is good but the until you upgrade the suspension and add an mfactory lsd, the handling isn't anything too special
