Comparing 3S-GE: 3rd & 4th Generation!

- Dito natin matutunghayan ang dalawang henerasyon ng 3S-GE na makina. Ang ikatlo at ikaapat na henerasyon. Maliban sa pagkakaiba ng specs ay sinubukan din namin ang pagkakaiba sa pagmaneho gamit ang parehong chassis na AE101.

One thing to note... Kumpara sa AE92 3SGE third gen ng tropa and my EE100 3SGE Red Top fourth gen.
Yung power and torque curve. Sa BEAMS, nandun ung power from 4000 rpm upwards ng VVTi. Secondly, hindi ganun ka "severe" ung difference.
Sa third gen, ang laki ng power gains pagpalo ng 5000 rpm. Tipong VTEC levels of difference.
Performance-wise. I recommend a short geared S54 or E56 na may final drive ng 4.1 and 4.2 respectively sa 3SGE. Nabubuhay lalo makina compared sa naka-long geared transmission ka na S52 ng Corona. Benefit pa LSD sa likuan. If you can, upgrade to a lightened flywheel.
On my stock BEAMS so far, already hit 220 km/hr, via GPS ang reading, not sa speedometer. More to give pa, apparently on 205/50ZR15 tyres and S54 transmission, maximum gearing speed is 237 km/hr at 7200 rpm in 5th gear.
Thanks for the extra info! I agree about the "vtec" like feeling and your opinions about the gearings and final drive. It is a great move to upgrade in the future.
look closer and how ACIS works using one plenum then switching over to a second plenum to increase total plenum volume when you need it. That second plenum may do nothing for you down below but up top..
Here is a way to think about it. Now close your eyes and imagine with me..
Your at the track and about do a 1/4 mile run.. Stage.. Get your revs up to about 6k.. Tree drops and your off the clutch..
First gear hooks up well and you just drop a 1.9 60ft and you snatch second.. Run that to about 6.5-6.7k and hop into third.. Now you bog down to aprox 4.5 -4.8k.. You bog and waiting on ACIS to kick in so you can take off.. You need all you can get to make this the best run you never had.. Your ACIS kicks in at 5.2k and your off again.. Pulling very hard and already up to 80mph. all that extra plenum volume is pulling you along strong and your engine is happy injecting all the air it can.
You pass the mark and you just ran a 14.7 on a stock Gen 3 3S-GE in a hard top 93..

Ask ko lang ano ang difference ng 3sfe and 3sge na engine?
3sfe is built with fuel efficiency in mind while 3sge is for performance. 3sfe has lower hp but is more fuel efficient, iba rin internals bro and ports ng head.
May 2nd Gen 3SGE din ako with ACIS, iba talaga ang torque at power na ibinibigay, kakatakot minsan hahaha

3s engine is good and powerful BUT, those engine are too thin, they're easy to lick bearings.

When I say thin, i mean it cant really take the rev like the 5a.

Exactly what I mean, but it's not my taste thou, I would rather swap to a 2zz with 6fwd gearbox.
2zz is more worth it, power is alot than 3S especially with the C60 trans with LSD
