- Sweet Soul was destined for slaughter. I rescued this wonderful "Old Soul". He has worked for 20 years, plowing and pulling for his farmers only to be taken on the next journey...the Kill Pen. He has worked hard though out his life, never complaining and always obeying and doing what he was ask of him. Did he ever receive a thank you? A kind word? A scratch or and apple?
There was something in those soulful eyes that touched mt heart, Something said you MUST save this gentle soul. His eyes tell the story...and that is why I wanted to give him the life he deserves...I wanted to heal his broken spirit. He is safe now and most important he is FREE from the horrible threat of slaughter. After traveling 5,338 miles to his forever home he is finally FREE.
"The spirit of those we leave behind live on in those we save." - Животные
He looks like he can’t believe he was saved, a little in shock, he is a gentle giant! Intelligent animals! 💕
He looks so comfortable with that man
Yes, this was taken when I got him. He has clubbed feet. His feet are much better now.
does he has clydesdale or shire blood? His roman nosed head reminds me of those breeds.
Gorgeous boy! Heart breaking to know he wound up in a kill pen, but God love you for rescuing him. I adopted my mule from a local animal shelter after she was confiscated from her previous owner for abuse. 4 years later, we're still together. Hard to say who rescued who. :)

He was only 20 years old. Seriously he had plenty years still left. Thank you for saving him.
Thank you...he is pretty awesome!
Mules can live up to 50 years according a breeder in B.C., Canada. So he is pretty young. Seen other video of your mule there playing all together with the other two together. He looks happy. Thank you again for taking in this gentle soul.
Glad he's rescued!
I fricking love animals in general (it's the reason I'm vegetarian) but have special love for Mules, Donkeys and Horses. They're so beautiful and have done so much for humanity throughout the centuries.

It will take awhile. It's a mule and you have to earn their trust. I've had him 3.5 yrs and just now able to halter him. It will be 4yrs in April.
You've shown great care and patience with him. He's very fortunate to have you
'Trust once betrayed requires much more time to earn than it did the first few times. Thank you for your patience. I suspect you will be surprised when he trusts you.
Awww let us know how he gets on. We'll done!
My Dad had 4 mules and they were nothing but a big babies we was good to them miss those days
He's a great big moose! What a sweetie.
Thank you! He is learning to trust!

Sweet Soul was a Amish Draft Mule, Mammoth Mule. Scars on gaskins are always found on Amish horses, sadly. They are work animals to them.
I dream of the day I can have one like him. I did rescue one last year and he wants zero to do with me . I did play with him in the round pen he loves the stick n string but wont let me touch him. Hsfree to a home. B
It took me about 4 months before my mule -- rescued from a kill pen -- decided that I am safe. I have had him for almost 3 years, and I can halter him in the field. Next up, I need to find a mule trainer to get him ready to ride.
He is beautiful. I look forward to seeing his progress. Hope you will share how you came about acquiring him and your plans for him.
I don't know how I got here, but I'm glad I did. What a gorgeous mule! Love those soulful eyes. It's too late now, but I would not leave his halter and lead rope on. If there's any potential for a problem, horses and mules will find it.
What a gorgeous mule!

God Bless you for saving him.
height and weight plz ?....THX!
....can't they give him another job, like easier then the hard job ???......
He’s adorable I want him😀
Excellent!
Big pretty mule. I think this man likes mules. All animals go to heaven. Jesus has a place for every bird dog cat, fish ever born.
The collar was removed immediately....still can't catch him after a year. He is learning to trust.
Jacque White, can’t say I blame him. The poor guy must have been terrified after how horribly he must have been treated at the slaughterhouse. I’m really glad you got him. Mules are pretty smart and I bet he’ll come around soon.
Did not leave halter or collar on...he is doing well.

Frozen
that's a lucky mule
Now that’s a fine mule , so why would anyone wanna let go of him ?
They got what they needed out of him and wanted to squeeze the last bit they could at a kill buyer auction
gail LeDuc , Sure would have to be a pretty ignorant individual to put that mule down. I’d love to have him just to look at and take care of . You also have several other fine looking mules , thank you so much for saving him and don’t forget to spoil him rotten .
mules are described as less obstinate and more intelligent than men.[4]:5
I agree!
id bet that draft mule is a combo of a draft horse and a mule
He's a big sweetie.

What happened to him, did the amish abuse him ? They really depend on their animals, doesn't make sence ,hope he has a much better life from now on .
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's what I've heard but their are people educating them. We have to sedate him to trim his feet. He us still learning to trust.

It's my understanding that the Amish do not hold sentimentality as far as their animals.
Look up Amish Puppymills ..They are barbaric.. :(
They look at them as all livestock. The live stock works for the farm. All livestock have jobs. If they can’t do their job they are sold, eaten or put down because they now are costing money. They don’t have a horse as a pet. They do humanize their livestock. I have no problem with that. It is what humans have done for ever. It is just since around the 90’s on we have seen humans lose their minds in the USA and a few other countries and want their horse to be let in to the restaurant to eat at the table with them. Absolutely nutty.
My Son in law works at a farm where they do raise cows to eat, what they don't do is treat them like garbage and abuse them their entire lives. No problem with that.

Im not sure what humanize means but i dont think its this

I would love to live there
So beautyfull
Really good mule. I look. I want to have.😁
He has a swollen leg.
He is not trained to ride.
On
Can u ride them things
katherine Brown yes, but hes not trained to ride. Hes only ever been trained to do farm work..hopefully they can earn enough trust to beginning training to ride!
Don't be silly those animals is for work they can handle it
awesome that you could save a beautiful mule but you should have taken the collar off there was no need to leave it on even for a short period and he still would have been able to catch when you needed to

Good grief. It is just wrong to work something hard for 20 years and execute it. Haven't they ever heard of the term, 'put out to pasture'. It's called retirement for the beasts of burden someone has been in a working relationship with for 20 years. Give them to someone who has cattle and let them range with them.
Legal ok.
Amish?
