6:10 Actually there is a distinction between the "Synth" and "Melody" padset types on the PD1. "Synth" sounds are monophonic, whereas "Melody" sounds are polyphonic.
big ups my guy, with the guidance of your tutorial i got this machine pumping out heaters within just a couple of hours of practice and exploration. if i went by the stupid ass manual, it woulda took me weeks i imagine. thanks for your work dude
I’ve never sworn at an inanimate object more than I have at this device. It’s as feature packed as it is frustrating. It’s like Casio forgot to hire actual people to make sure it was actually operable by reasonable standards. You’re a hero for conquering it.
Thank you for doing this! I , like everyone else apparently, could not understand why Casio included so little and slightly confusing information in their "manuals". Would love to see more on what else you might be able to share in order to make it easier to work with.
There's a User's Guide pdf online that's a lot more helpful than the one it comes with. Between that and this video I've learned a ton about this machine.
Thank you! This video got me past some issues that were not at all addressed in either manual.... Good stuff! Casio should hire you to do their tutorials...
Thanks a lot, man!! I got this for $100 brand new at Guitar Center a couple of months ago. I was happy until I read the manual which sucks... I'm not an intuitive guy who will just keep messing with something until they figure it out... Now I can wipe the dust off it and make some tight beats... Appreciate it....
What kind of plug do you use to make your phone play sound out of it. I am having problems connecting my trackformer to my phone. It's just muted when I'm trying to record a sample please help !
Thanks for this tutorial, it is very helpful compared to the "manual". I was wondering how to copy pattern from one group to another. Groups buttons are not active when in copy mode. Is it at all possible to have different patterns in all 4 groups? It seems to be the same patterns when I change the group.
I think you can change the pattern, the pattern programming has been a struggle for me as well especially it doesn't always go back to the beginning automatically, you have to press Function and Play(Restart) -------------that was something that threw me off
Do you happen to know if it is possible to copy an entire sequence to a new one (I.e. To keep the original while modifying a copy?) how about copying a pattern from one seq into another? Thanks in advance for any hints.
Thanks for doing this. You're right. The guide that comes in the box with this is utterly useless. I think it was written by a guy at Casio who saw a picture of the PD1 but really didn't know what it was so perhaps thought it was a can opener or digital timepiece? I don't know but they weren't even ever in the same room as one of these, I'm sure of it. The PDF guide you said to download is much better but still confusing as hell. Page 2 will make reference to saving patterns or something but then tell you to go to page 13 for more info and then you go to page 13 and it'll be about effects or something. It's like a choose your own story adventure but for a groovebox tutorial. I still couldn't figure out how to do certain things and had to ask in forums and what not. At any rate, I'm starting to see more videos pop up of this thing. Seems a lot of us cashed in on that $100 deal at Guitar Center ( which this thing is worth every penny of that). Kudos, thanks. Peace be with you.
Yes! But... I kind of forgot how to do it. I think It has to do with holding down one of the outside circle buttons somewhere and then pressing another one to extend it.... If I figure it out I''ll let you know.
Hey can you send me the file for the manual as the link doesn't work anymore would be appreciated! I can only find a website that I'd have to screenshot every page manually
Yea, you just plug a mic into the "mic" input instead of an aux chord. You'll still need a weird adapter to get the mic into it though, there's no xlr input.
Got mine today and all seems to be going well, except the sampler/external input feature doesn't seem to be working... Did exactly what you said in vid but basically I plug my phone in and there's no sound whatsoever. Any ideas/help would be much appreciated!
Oh, and the PD1 is a super little beatbox/ sampler/ effects unit. Your video makes understanding and using its features much easier (the supplied factory user guide is not very good to put it mildly). Thanks for the tutorial!

also is it just me or does synth only work on bank 1?
Nice, thanks!
@@Otie64 Yeah, synth only works on Bank 1. One of the few pieces of useful information in the manual!
Thanks for the video, really saved my behind in the last Bad Gear episode
Happy to help! The manuals are no help at all.
You're a hero! The manual is really bad, this totally helps. I think there's a lot more of these things out there since the $99 sale.
great video. Your attitude made me see the possibilities and not the negatives in what is sure to be a future classic.
Kudos. This is the most useful tutorial of the PD1 that I could find on youtube!

After spending hours checking out 500-1000 dollar samplers this is the one that seems to do what I want. Thank you for making this video.

Thank you! I just got one of these and I understand it better now because of your efforts. Big ups.
Sincere thanks for making this!
Thank you! This video got me past some issues that were not at all addressed in either manual.... Good stuff! Casio should hire you to do their tutorials...
Dude, thank you so much! Yes, the manual is pretty much useless, I've figured out a lot on my own, and this video helps a lot.
Nice! Hoping to buy this by Christmas, your video helped a lot.
thanks for the vid it was so hard to find info on this thing . i will keep an eye out if have anymore vid on pd1
Thanks for being able to explain this so well. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Very useful.

This is an incredible tutorial. Thanks!!!
Just Outstanding ! Thank You .. Happy Holidays..
Just got mine today. Thank you for putting this up because the manual is garbage and I was very overwhelmed on what the hell was going on with it
It almost seems like it's half music device, half puzzle. Yikes! Got one from eBay coming for cheap. Worth a shot...I like puzzles. ;-)
The effects can be applied per bank or global.
Cool I want to create a wobble effect/synth combo bank specific
Thanks a million! This was way informative!
What kind of plug do you use to make your phone play sound out of it. I am having problems connecting my trackformer to my phone. It's just muted when I'm trying to record a sample please help !
Did you try to move the mix fader from INT on the right to the left EXT side?
it looks fuckin fun once you're rollin with it. and really portable too ! I think I'd play with that everywhere

Any idea why I cant get input on tracktion ? I'm also running a behringer interface so maybe it's trying to take input from both ?
excellent tutorial thanks alot
Pad Set, Pad Type and Pad Sound but no Pad Thai, that device is not for me
Do you happen to know if it is possible to copy an entire sequence to a new one (I.e. To keep the original while modifying a copy?) how about copying a pattern from one seq into another? Thanks in advance for any hints.
Thanks for the vid. Can anyone tell me how to change volume on a single pad and not the whole bank? Thanks...
did you ever figure this out?
Thanks Matrock!

Matt Greer . very poor manual
nice tutorial! thanks :)
Is there a way to have two bar loops?
Yes! But... I kind of forgot how to do it. I think It has to do with holding down one of the outside circle buttons somewhere and then pressing another one to extend it.... If I figure it out I''ll let you know.
Yeah I want to know how to do that too cause most cool synth lines are two bars for call/response.........
Thank you! so so much!
How do add effects to a one shot. E.g reverb to a single snare
I tried to answer your question best I could with a video. Happy Saturday. ruclips.net/video/g_rPEDTRc3c/видео.html
Hey can you send me the file for the manual as the link doesn't work anymore would be appreciated! I can only find a website that I'd have to screenshot every page manually
Try this one
www.manualslib.com/manual/933331/Casio-Xw-Pd1-Trackformer.html#manual
@@MatrockRecords thank you I've just seen this I've been wondering how to lengthen my loops on the system! Hope it's in this manual
Good shit!!
Thanks! Can I run a virtual midi clock out from traitor via usb
I'm not sure. I think ableton might be able to receive that but I'm not sure. I've never tried
learning curve .. frustration!
Who else thinks it looks like the Millennium Falcon ?
Can you sample your live voice with a mic?
Yea, you just plug a mic into the "mic" input instead of an aux chord. You'll still need a weird adapter to get the mic into it though, there's no xlr input.
I want a No-Pressure Filter dang it!

Hmm. The only thing i can think of is check on the top fader (external/internal) and make sure it's in the middle. Other than that, maybe a bad cable?
Michael Tacoma Sorted. Turns out it was indeed the mix fader was turned. Thanks a lot for your help and for this video!
Do I spy a Korg DW8000 under the XW-PD1?!!!
Yes you do! Good eye!
+Matrock Records Great hybrid synth the DW8000, with a wicked analogue filter! Pair it with the PD1 for some great sounds and effects!

thanks for this awesome vid
I al scrathing my head with this damn thing lol the paper manual is useless
I wish it was good. At least it looks good 😉
Thank u thank u...I bought one cause of starwars lol
you are all over the place with the sampling demo.....gotta move on. Thanks anyway.
I'm extremely intuitive, he learning curve of this machine is disgusting. It's like its purposefully, not user friendly.
