There is only one Joe Burke. I live in St. Louis and we were fortunate enough to have The Galway Rambler in our town for many years, thanks to Nick Carter the owner of John D. McGurk's Pub. I was blessed to see and hear him hundreds of times throughout the years (I even got to play with him on quite a few occasions) and I will be forever grateful that I actually knew the great Joe Burke.
I love Ann's guitar playing. Lovely and simple. Not smashing the guitar to drown the lead instruments or inserting so many chord changes that the rhythm is lost.
The late great Joe Bourke RIP joined by the great Frankie Gavin playing two of Michael Coleman's Lord Mc Donalds,Ballinasloe Fair Brilliant combination
Many chord changes is today's disease. Worst of all is that Hollywood harmonies. which is today's scene suffering from. All due to so called "innovators". Innovators in trad music?????? ..Modulations Okay to some extent, but do NOT overstep things!!.Do you hear me, Scottish Robert Black?!!!!
Very sorry to hear of his passing and condolences to Ann and all his family. He was a fantastic player whom I always enjoyed. The angels must be delighted with his magnificent talent.
We saw you at Wickham this year . You were absolutely AMAZING . We LOVED your song selection . Thank you so much . Made my Year . Loved your songs for ever .
Joe Burke with a set of two reels, Paddy Kelly's and Seán sa Cheo, accompanied by Ann Conroy, then joined by Frankie Gavin and they play Lord MacDonald and Ballinasloe Fair. Recorded at the 25th Willie Clancy Summer School, Miltown Malbay, July 1997. Brilliant Irish traditional music!
Long may you live Joe and the Lovely girl playing the guitar. I don't think you had to learn the box ,I think it just came to you. Well done to Frankie too.
Just a word about Ann Conroy's guitar accompaniment. I think it's well-nigh perfect. Lovely, crisp basses and clean, perfectly-timed chords. There's a reason why standard tuning is standard.
Take a close look at how straight Joe Burke's beard is under his chin, this happens when he is rocking out and playing his accordion up close so he gets a better sound but he also gets a beard trim from the fast played accordion, it works like a bear mower
Light of heaven to the lovely man. Condolences to his wife.
People who can't play have no idea how good this is,I play jazz but this is awesome
I could spend the rest of my life listening to this!
I am a box player from kerry, the greatest of all time, RIP

This is just brilliant and heart warming.
Atmospheric fantastic playing. A beautiful blend of instruments playing traditional music at the correct speed.
A master: utterly relaxed & still & just watching the music pour out of his fingers all by themselves.
This will be regarded as one of the finest moments in the history of Irish music!
Great reels well played, fine guitar picking too!
As good as it ever can be, three of the alltime greats.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

IMO her guitar mimics a good piano backing in its crispness.

Great,
This is trad in it's purest form
❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⭐️
Lord McDonald's and Ballinasloe Fair once made famous by the great Michael Coleman and wonderfully played here by these champions
Ann Conroy's standard tuned Martin is much sweeter than the DADGAD Takamine players you hear today.
200% correct. DADGAD is just an undefined humdrum sound,,,!!!! Give me Ann's style anyday. Lovely...!!!
RIP Joe Burke
Up Galway!
Gaillimh abu
SAVAGE up the west!!!
Two great reels and my thanks to sessnazx for sharing.
Joe has a great melodic sense ...not as prevalent now as in the 50s / 60s.
Frankie seems to live on a different melodic space.
The music is winding down , but the volume is winding up...though not with these guys....Joe is the best!
i love the skateing that boy is way better than the other boy
that must have been the first time they met
pretty guitar - is it a Martin.
Take a close look at how straight Joe Burke's beard is under his chin, this happens when he is rocking out and playing his accordion up close so he gets a better sound but he also gets a beard trim from the fast played accordion, it works like a bear mower
skateing the best that boy is so cool
Force of nature...
the music is winding down but the polkas will survive
Lui il sait comment ça marche c'te p'tite boîte là!

Ar fheabhas, cronaím é anseo i bPáras. Is dóigh liom go bhfuil deireadh seachtaine i Doolin ag teastáil uaim!
Lord MacDonald sounds a lot like Sally Goodin....only more ornate
Brilliant
