God I'm old enough to remember Joe when he hadn't got a beard. The Best Irish Box Player ever..............I remember a session in Donegal with the late Johnny Doherty....what a night. ♪♫
When I listen to Joe Burke, I think of my Father Peter John from Plumbridge. He loved playing the Button Key Accordion and played many a Joe Burke tune.
While I agree with christophigus to an certain extent, I have two words in response: Mairtin O'Connor. Trying to compare those two would be like splitting atoms but the fact is that Mairtin is definitely right up there with Burke!
I'm talking about his playing not his tunes...and his tunes aren't too complicated for me...I love playing them. anyhow, it's personal taste I guess. In my mind the only good record Burke made was Galway's own...but I'd be bored of it after a few minutes he just plays everything the same. Finbarr keeps it interesting.
Wonderful music, Joe and Ann play so well together
Sad to hear of his passing today. One of my favorite box players Loved his playing and always will RIP Joe

First tune is Sporting Nell...2nd Tune is one I forget the name of but it's definitely not Come West Along the Road.
Very nice. Thanks!
The best!!

There is a lot of accordionists better than him now but still, he stays my favorite.
lovely
he's playing the melody and anne is playing the harmony although he hits a few bass notes with the left hand
First tune is Sporting Nell i think.
finbarr dwyer is good too...have you heard him playing the box?

Cheers for that i forgot to put it in. Bit of a Jekyll and Hyde you lol
Never mind...the other guy's right...just forget to add Sporting Nell at the Beginning. So it's Sporting Nell/The Boyne Hunt/Come West Along the Road
Any idea of the name of the Hornpipes he's playing in the other clip?
