For anyone who is wondering what Karin "was not supposed to tell anyone", Mr. Solheim had r4ped her. So much so that she lost interest in most of her favorite hobbies. She won't even bathe, eat, or play. She doesn't even let you touch her anymore. She also suffered from intense bullying and disrespect, all because of her German heritage. Her mother gave her away because her father was a German soldier, and you raised her like a child of your own. This game is so melancholy;the ending broke me.
Unfortunately the game is based on the true experiences of people in Norway, so avoiding or preventing what happens would hide the suffering of the children/adults/families. However, the same game developers are creating a new game that is not so sad. Klas and Karin will be older and you have more control over what happens. Be strong people! Life gets better.
This game was cute but you also have to see the harsh and ugly stuff the child goes through. I remember telling Karin that she didn't have to go back after the abuse.
@@Calvodecria559 Indeed. No child deserves it. It's a good thing I have achieved the ending where we boarded a train on my playthrough. Despite me laughing at Hitler and Nazi memes, this game is a constant reminder that people suffered and children did with harsh consequences
I can just imagine ehat that teacher did to her (and Klaus in boy’s option) ans it made me really sad and angry. Very emotional game but I managed to get good ending
This game broke my heart, not only because of the historical plot, but because as a mother I could not protect and avoid the suffering that my son or daughter went through, I would have liked to do three things, first I would have tried to keep the communication and friendship with Anne, Karin's aunt, in case she wanted to have contact with her niece, secondly, I would use the money that Karin's father gave me to get her out of Norway and take her to the US or South America, because the important thing for me would be to get her out of that environment toxic, third, he would try to convince Karin's father to try to maintain some secret and anonymous communication with his daughter, without any financial interest or commitment, for the girl's psychological and emotional well-being, well, that would be what he would try to do if he game allowed. On the other hand, the game is great, but I would like another version of the game in which you take the role of the son and have to face your parents or you in the role of father have to answer your son, certain uncomfortable questions about what happened during the war and what was the role of your family in it or what did they do while the Nazi regime lasted? And you have to discover the past or family war secret and then you find out what happened to the uncle you never met or why grandpa is in jail, like what happened in the fifties in Germany, which even today is a terrible painful taboo and at school they made you ask your parents what happened? Or will it be that my idea is very macabre? Well, I do it with a lot of respect, but this game broke my heart...😔😔😔😭😭😭💓💓💓
this game literally just broke my heart that I was about to tear up. I wish I could prevent this from happening to Karin. I feel guilty for not being able to protect my child even if it's a game. and knowing that these things actually happened irl makes it even sadder. they should've added the option to kill mr. solheim! anyway, I'm happy that the money they earn will be donated. glad i got the game
Its sad to think that such a great game like this has a little attention, its broke my heart when my child wont even let me to touch them. its even more sad knowing this game based on real life event. thanks for the explanation, i before have my own guess and this video help me understand it better
I don't know much about the context but here's what I know: The game is based off true things / events that happened. In the game you live in Norway and adopt a child a few years after WW2. Karin or Klaus (depending on which u pick) is a child born for the Lebensborn Project. Basically a child born to make Germany stronger during the war, because of this after the war many of these children got bullied, groomed, blamed for the war and sometimes k!lled. In Normay during WW2 many women started dating German men for money, comfort, food or even just because they fell in love. After the war these women were know as "German Sl_ts" and were seen as traitors to Norway. Many women who had children with a German had gave up their child and didn't want anything to do with them. This basically goes through the bulling and teasing these children went through and you play as the eyes of the adoptive parent. You have to take care of your child and manage the house but you are also poor which doesn't help. As time goes on in the game your child suffers with bulling, teasing, and being called r@cist names and sl_rs. Many female children being called sl_ts just like their mothers. Hope this helps
"Grooming" implies building of trust over a long period of time between a child and an adult authority figure so that the child likes them and trusts them and will not believe theyre being abused when that eventually happens. There was no building of love and trust between this child and teacher. This was just old fashioned abuse.
The teacher took advantage of Karin... meaning he abused her. She didn't want to wash, hoping that Mr. Solheim would leave her alone if she was dirty. Stopping to eat and not enjoying playing anymore is also a common occurrence among children who experienced SA. They become depressed and neglect themselves
He pissed on her first hand and after a whole, in the detention, he started abusing her sexually, possibly raping her and told her not to tell anyone. The game is practically playing with people's minds at this point, no way in hell that could happen with a guardian over her like this, but we are made helpless for the sake of the story. Something I definitely hate about this game, your choices are almost shit and have no real impact on anything.
@@mohammadfakhoury1187 thank you for explaining. But the company is working on a new game called: ,,my child new beginnings" and there the choices you make have more impact on the story.
@@HogwartsFan555 I hope it provides us with the power of choices, the events of the first game could have easily been avoided for the most part if we just monitored her in school. She came back from her 2nd detention, not letting us touch her, bathe, feed or even pat her head. She also tries to express it through her drawings about that son of a bitch (the teacher), there is a drawing of the teacher assaulting her with 3 hands. she even mentions it in her dialogues that the teacher told her not to tell anyone. She expresses gratitude as well when she doesn't go to school after that, saying that she was glad she didn't have to meet her teacher in detention. They are obviously the signs of a sexual assault. The company also calls what he has done as "the unspoken". I get the point of the game and I gotta say, they made it so well. It's just that it's really illogical for all of that to happen to her when she has a very caring parent ready to throw their own life for her.
