  • IT HAS BEEN A SWELTERING SUMMER IN METRO DETROIT - AND NOW THE COST OF THE HEAT IS HITTING HOME TO PEOPLE ALL OVER OUR AREA. WE'VE SEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE TALKING ON COMMUNITY GROUPS - IN SHOCK OVER JUST HOW HIGH THEIR ELECTRIC BILL IS. ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE - WE ASKED HOW YOUR ELECTRIC BILL IS LOOKING - AND WE GOT HUNDREDS OF COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE - STUNNED AT JUST HOW MORE THEY'RE PAYING YEAR-OVER-YEAR. SO WE SENT 7 ACTION NEWS REPORTER PETER MAXWELL TO BERKLEY AND WESTLAND - TO SEE THE IMPACT - AND TO TALK TO D-T-E ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON.

That house isn't that big, square footage wise, which is a good thing for what I'm proposing. The central AC looks like it's not long for this world so DO NOT spend any money in trying to repair it. The absolute best bang for your dollar is to go and buy those super-efficient window AC units like those U shape window AC units that are inverter driven. You'll have to buy one for each occupied bedroom and one for your main living space during the day. I know, buying 3 window AC units sounds excessive but I'll bet money it'll be cheaper than having a real HVAC tech come and fix your old central AC where you'll waste electricity cooling rooms that are not occupied.
