Halle Berry went to high school with a friend of mine in Bedford Heights, OH and all anyone can say is nice things about her. And was gorgeous back then and a cheerleader but was kind to everyone. She seems like she’s still that person. Good heart and soul.
The movie had a lot of missing information. Halle heard her sons talking about her (the one son was possessed at this time) . Halle didn’t confront her sons . The next thing Halle does is chat with the boys about cooking the dog 🐕. This film needs more detail. Kind of bland.

I’ve watched so many RUclips and TikToks regarding Never Let Go . The fact that multiple adult who have reviewed and commented ,are not seeing this movie(where a woman has killed her parents, threatened to kill her children, brainwashed them to staying tied to a condemned house in the woods, cooks and eats bug and tree bark , sees her dead mother who looks like split tongue demon) as a movie about schizophrenia is a bit concerning 🥴 Good review fellas, as usual ❤

I was kind of on the fence about going to see it thinking it was a straight ahead horror flick but then I saw reviews about the mental illness angle and was more intrigued but alas...the two boys are fantastic young actors...beautiful gowns. Also LOVE Halle's social media wig shenanigans 😂
While watching I couldn't be sure if this movie was allegorical for passing on Mental Illness from generation to generation, or passing Generational Curses to your children. Either way there definitely was a message being sent. It definitely makes you think about & question your own upbringing and how much of it was damaging indoctrination. Idk how much I actually enjoyed the movie as much as it just made me think...which I can appreciate on its own merit.
The script was so weak for me, I left disappointed. For me, the super cute good boi dog was the best part. I’d see a sequel, but only if he was the star. The one good thing I will say is that the cinematography in the dark was done well. I hope the two young boys go on to do bigger and better projects- the talent is there. Gonna hop over to your review of The Substance next. Great job as always. Love u guys! ❤
The ending was somewhat lacking for me and failed to tie it all together, in my mind. If I am correct, my understanding is the truth was somewhere in the middle. So the life they were living wasn’t correct, but wasn’t fully wrong? Evil spirit did exist, but didn’t affect entire world, just their family. And the boy broke the curse at the end. So mother wasn’t fully crazy, but was not correct with her assumptions?

HI GENTS!! Thanks for your review... I saw this today, and thought it was pretty good. HB was quite abusive, which threw me a bit... locking them in the cellar, forced rituals/prayers, dinner table horror stories, etc. 😳🎉 The acting by all three leads was excellent, especially the doubting son. The movie felt a little small for me. I went to see it in a big theater and this is definitely a movie you can watch at home on your 70 inch flat screen. While most of the effects were good some made it seem low budget. As for the movie I believed the intent was to make you believe the demons were real and then to conclude that the mom was just crazy and had tricked her kids into thinking her crazy visions were real. The older boy who had been indoctrinated longer of course believed the mom more and maybe he was closer to her. The younger son was doubting everything. But the twist at the end with the picture and the younger son also seeing the demons is that the mom was right all along and there are demons in the world.
the premise (parent who maybe or maybe not has supernatural-minded delusions indoctrinating their two kids, one a believer, one not, ) reminds me of the movie Frailty.
Regarding where they are, u might’ve missed, there’s a book talking about Tennessee wild life that is scanned by right in the beginning. So I think they are in Tennessee.
That’s what I told my climbing partner when I slipped off the cliff face: Never let go! Coming this week to a theater near you. He was really confused by that last part.
I honestly don’t see how people can think this film is ambiguous, from the first couple scenes I could tell it was about generational trauma and abuse. and the mother was suffering from delusions. Besides the very last scene there’s nothing to suggest any of the supernatural stuff was real and that felt like a wink from the creators rather than a plot point.
I watched it last night with no expectations and was thoroughly surprised how much I enjoyed it. Definitely not tubi quality. I actually really enjoyed, the dynamic between the 3 completely changes half way through the movie so it's not necessarily a typical horror movie but rather a pyschological thriller. Kid actors were amazing and overall it was a solid watch Definitely worth it if you just want to get out the house for a minute.
This movie immediately reminded me of Frailty. The exact same situation with a seemingly mentally ill parent who slays demons on behalf of God. He then enlists his two sons to join him. One son follows him without question, while the other son is terrified that his dad is crazy. ***spoiler alert *** It turns out he really could see actual evil in people and was really given the task to execute those people. I was hoping this movie would have a similar twist. That there were actual demons. Yes, the mom was the only one who could see because that's the way the evil wanted it.
I don’t think they were really starving I think she’s genuinely crazy . How you go from bugs to actual things that are not edible like a tree wtf I new she lost it but I’m still confused was she crazy and telling the truth or was it all made up
I liked the movie but I do have some problems with it. I think the director used cheap tactics to throw people off which is something I don't typically care for. Case in point there are times when the audience see "the visions" before the characters in the movie which is an effect usually used to show the threat is real like in the 2008 movie The Strangers when we see the intruder lurking in the background whilst the protagonist is oblivious or in Aliens when we see the Xenomorph come out of camouflage in the background before the character it's about to attack is aware of it's presence. The idea of “the visions” being in Halle Berry’s character’s head doesn't make sense if we the audience are seeing things in the background that the protagonist is not aware of. That's just cheap and misleading. I think the movie would have been better if the threat was real. I was disappointed when the hitchhiker was revealed to be on the phone to 911 showing that the world was normal. I think the director needed to commit and decide if the threat was real or if it was all about psychotic delusions. Showing a photograph at the end with a demon hand on Sam’s shoulder implies the threat is real. You can't have both. You need to pick one. Choose a side. Choose a lane. At least with a knock at the cabin another movie that makes you question if the characters are crazy or telling the truth, actually commits and reveals the warnings were true which made for a more impactful and memorable movie in my opinion. Another problem I had with the movie is the Noah character. He doubted the customs which resulted in his mother’s death then after she dies he goes back to following the rituals and customs his mother taught him such as tying the rope around his waist again.🤷 Made me hate the character. Made me think Halle Berry died for nothing. I kind of wanted the threat to be real just so it could get his arse and have it play out like a cautionary tale where I could wag my finger at the screen and say you should have listened to your mother. The idea of him being right makes me question why he would doubt his mother when he was raised on those customs and didn't even know what a camera was. In the last act all of a sudden he has survival skills and knows how to avoid dying of smoke inhalation by using a wet rag in the burning house. Both he and his sibling had the same education and he became the voice of reason. Circling back to the director and his cheap tricks, what was the point of the special effects showing Sam getting possessed and taken over if none of it was real? Just to fool the audience? Cheap tricks like that cheapen the movie for me but I did otherwise enjoy the acting and cinematography.
Ok I’m stupid let me get this straight. The zombie people she sees are all in her head? I thought they were zombies in the trailer but they are evil spirits?
@@courtney5623 they're supposed to be in her head, and then in the boys' heads too. And in the polaroid's head, considering what they showed us in that picture. The director decided not to give it us straight
I’ll put it this way, I walked out of the theater with the same amount of information that I walked in with. We’re made to believe it’s all in her head, but that explanation kinda goes out the window by the 4th act of the film.
All these horror films where the horror/supernatural that's a substitute for mental health. Is there anything that is just a possession, not starring Russell Crowe? It's filmed well
Are we to assume that the believing son (Sam) is "possessed" at the end? He is now evil? Or was his behavior due to paranoia/indoctrination/trauma... and there hope for him (given some good MH treatment)? Side note: My best friend's dog looks almost exactly like their dog 🐕... wonder how she would feel about this entanglement, maybe I shouldn't ask her to see it with me?!? 😮🎉
Based on my understanding of the movie, along with the filmmaker’s responses to some interview questions, I believe Samuel was not possessed by a literal spirit or demon, rather, he will forever be plagued by trauma/darkness. Nolan was able to realize his trauma/darkness and become “free” at the end of the movie by embracing the darkness of his mom. The filmmaker said, “I think Nolan is free…I think he did the work. He managed to embrace the darkness of his family and everything that happened, and he's really cutting the rope and leaving everything behind. I feel he's going to hopefully try to save his brother from his own demons later on, but he's actually free.” Based on this answer, I believe that Samuel is not evil and can be ‘saved’ if he is able to embrace the family’s darkness. Hope this makes sense.
So no other character in the movie is real?? So how does she has these kids in the woods and no real person has found them?? I was skipping thru the movie I didnt realize she made everything up
Before ten minutes in, i knew it was going to be one of those "not real all in her/their heads thing" so i turned it off. I came here for confirmation and i was right lol. She plays a lot of lunatic roles.
You didn't like Horns? I thought it was interesting 😈 Surprised you liked Piranha 3D 😂 This one sounds meh to me but I liked your discussions of the themes about indoctrination etc.
I saw at a free advanced screening of this and couldn't wait for it to end. HATED IT! Boring, derivative, predictable, depressing and confusing. The two kids gave compelling performances but Halle was underwhelming. Only Nick watched it. I'd be curious what Joseph thought.
Yall ever watch a movie and about half way thru you're like oh so this is all the movie's gonna be about ? This is all the climax were gonna get ? 😂 I give it a 3/5. Granted i did cry when the mom keeled herself bcuz it reminded me of my mom passing 😞. Anyway all the promo kept saying scariest movie of the year and i was waiting til the end for the scares and they never came maybe the scariest part was her about to keel the dog 😢😅. Movie coulda been better just like most of the movies this year they rely on the mystery factor but the script and writing is not supplementary. they wasted 2/3 just storytelling about the rope. We shoulda seen more monsters more mayhem more g0re anything more! When the girl turned to a snake i said okay were getting sumwhere then that was the last of the monsters... The end left room for a part 2 with the brother being p0ssessed on the chopper but idk. The boys did a great job. I wanted more from halle they checked her out too early just to have her come back as a ghost... Movie was just all over the place
hey yall! just a question-- were you guys able to catch Sunshine (2024) at TIFF? it's a Filipino movie entry and I was curious if you guys watched it and wanted to know your brief thoughts 🥹

Yes exactly. The mother states " I brought the evil her with me" which implies that the entire world isn't "evil " but rather the entity sticks around her family, like a generational curse.
@JacobDMcGrew I thought the girl was real and was like so she was just left in the woods, but after your comment and thinking about it. Yeah, he manifested her because he doubted his action.
I believe the movie is allegorical for Mental Illness or Generational Curses. Which means the majority of the issues were in their own heads. The world has Not ended, but that family's bloodline was dealing with a significant issue. One boy seemed to beat it while the other was overcome by it even though they both made it out to the real world.
Halle Berry went to high school with a friend of mine in Bedford Heights, OH and all anyone can say is nice things about her. And was gorgeous back then and a cheerleader but was kind to everyone. She seems like she’s still that person. Good heart and soul.

Haven’t we seen another movie already about a guy that was blind and he was tied to a rope attached to a house in the woods?
Caveat (2020)?
So no other character in the movie is real?? So how does she has these kids in the woods and no real person has found them?? I was skipping thru the movie I didnt realize she made everything up
I thought it was pretty good
Before ten minutes in, i knew it was going to be one of those "not real all in her/their heads thing" so i turned it off. I came here for confirmation and i was right lol. She plays a lot of lunatic roles.
I saw this yesterday and I didn't like it. So weird but hearing your commentary made me go from giving it 1.5 stars to 2 stars out of 4stars.
A Ropey Place
Wait he didn’t give it a score?? 😢
They gave it a 3
True 100%%%%
She's great
I don’t like when Joseph hasn’t watched the movie 😐
You didn't like Horns? I thought it was interesting 😈
Surprised you liked Piranha 3D 😂
This one sounds meh to me but I liked your discussions of the themes about indoctrination etc.
How is HIGH TENSION religious?
This was better than I thought what a mind fuck
I saw at a free advanced screening of this and couldn't wait for it to end. HATED IT! Boring, derivative, predictable, depressing and confusing. The two kids gave compelling performances but Halle was underwhelming. Only Nick watched it. I'd be curious what Joseph thought.
Never let us go Boys haha
Film reminds me of Relic movie from 2020
Is that Mary Louis Parker or whatever her name is?
I’m too lazy to google it lmao. I’m just going to wait for the premier to find out.
uhm, where?
This movie stars Halle Berry
@@grim_2000 the thumbnail looks like MLP to me 🤷♀️

7:11 Hi honey!! 🐈😍🎉
Awww hey pretty girl 7:10
hey yall! just a question-- were you guys able to catch Sunshine (2024) at TIFF? it's a Filipino movie entry and I was curious if you guys watched it and wanted to know your brief thoughts 🥹
No, we didn't.
I’m still not sure if the Dad and girl towards the end were real or evil?
Dad was real, girl wasn’t
