Left Oceanside for a gem of a neighborhood: NORTH COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER‼️ For starts an amazing Farmers market in the Justice center parking lot and they've got a delicious variety of food to enjoy, groceries to buy, plants, ceramics, knives sharpened and on and on. Restaurants, Fed Ex, LA Fitness, Food for less, T-mobile, Starbucks, CVS, EV charging ports, lots of sidewalks, down to South Melrose and just before Sycamore is the best off leash dog park anywhere! Yes the Sheriffs are a little macho (so behave yourself,) we have houseless people (who doesn't,) but our lil corner of Vista is walkable, bus-able and the Sprinter will get cha to the beach in no time. Plus we have all those cute painted utility boxes done by a local artist, each one a unique work of art. And then there's our perfect weather🤗.
Keep telling people to stay away to keep us from getting jammed 😉👍🏻

Your title clearly says 5 reasons not to move to Vista with nothing Pro. Since when is a 15-20 min drive to the beach far? Unless you can afford a multimillion dollar house to live west of the 5? Vista is perfectly located with a short drive to San Diego, Orange County or Temecula. The weather in Vista is amazing and it's Re-growth will only get better. Downtown Vista has a nice movie theater, Yellow Deli, Belching Beaver, a water park. Not sure why you as a realtor would be dissing Vista? Might not be for everyone but Vista has a lot to offer.

Vista means hills of course it’ll be hard to walk around, lots of street don’t have side walks because they’re in the hills. Mar Vista, Buena Creek, Foothill & Monte Vista areas are the ones that are more difficult to walk around. Other than that the city is pretty walkable.

For me, I have to admit. I'm not entirely sure I'd have much to do with Vista anymore if not for my roots, both in terms of family and friends, but also familiarity, the fact that I have a big network of people, and I'm so embedded. I'm just so invested in this place. I know almost every nook. But it does occur to me regularly that I'm not getting much bang for my buck. And now the perks of suburban living have eroded with the squalor, making the good things about Vista 30-40 years ago no longer real features in being here. But home is where the heart is I guess.

    1. The "Project Pipeline". It's one giant construction zone. If there is an open space, they are going to build on it. Your life will be filled with dust and *Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep*. The city council doesn't listen when there is public feedback to projects unless someone files a lawsuit. Builders have more rights than residents. No one is talking emergency evacuation in regards to density because fire danger is very real here.
    2. Aircraft Noise:
Vista is sandwiched between two military bases and surrounded by airports in every direction (Fallbrook, Romona, Carlsbad, Oceanside). Private pilots don't follow noise abatement procedures and/or FAA speeds, minimum safe altitudes. It gets LOUD even if you aren't in an area considered noise impacted according to airport documents. Military aircraft is quiet but flight schools, private jets, private pilots, helicopters, etc are a massive nuisance because they are not considerate to the community below. There is a lot of finger pointing about responsibility, gas lighting and lack of accountability. Any complaint that you file gets omitted from airport reporting. And it's only going to get worse. The airport keeps trying to expand to become an international airport. The expansion has been halted for now but that might change in the future. There is no where to 'just move' to unless it is out of San Diego County. I've lived near airports all of my life, but this area has the worst run/most publicly abusive aviation community. Either don't move here or expect to spend all of your free time filing FAA complaints in hope that some day you'll have peace. Bad behavior can make the most beautiful place on earth look ugly.
    3. Law Enforcement
You'll have the sheriff's department circling over you with announcements that sound like Charlie Brown's teacher and then Nextdoor fills up with posts asking what they are saying.
If you call for services because there is a crime in progress, they cancel the call and don't come. If you ask them to be proactive to diffuse a situation (community policing) they say that they aren't going to do that. They are essentially the clean up crew after something bad happened.
Some of the rural areas the sheriff won't even respond. They tell you to call CHP. If you move here, you might want to prepare to be your own hero because no one is going to help when you need it.

This lady has no clue about what she’s speaking on. This is definitely an older city has a lot of older homes. My grandfather bought his property here in 71. The community is strong. A lot of the original resident of Vista and know each other and are willing to help out there is a lot of new development Homes here kind of gives you that country ranch by which is why a lot of the community do not have sidewalk park. Churches are trying to get out and explore. I wouldn’t really take this ladies advice with a grant homes here do fill over price but just because of how much you are getting, tropical climate and Vista. We don’t do Escondido further we don’t got all the problems with Oceanside nothing more less than what you get anywhere else. If you get to live, I would definitely look into it.

    This is bad information.
Vista is the best place to grow up. I had a fantastic childhood experience there. My brothers and I walked, biked and exercised everywhere. Now understand, people who are racist or snooty will notice the diversity they fear most (non-caucasions)! I'm glad to see the improvements Vista has implemented in recent years. Parks are in close proximity to almost every neighborhood. Give Vista a chance!

Vista is city that overbuilt way too much, with too may apartments, chain stores and restaurants. Gone are family run places like Don Vincents, Casa Linda, Carr Auto Parts, etc. The Avo Theater is now a Theater?
The whole place is overbuilt and way overpriced. $1700 to rent a 1BR? Vista in 1972 was ranked one of the top 10 places to live in America, now it's a joke.
