- I suppose the best way I can describe it is animal manure mixed with bad BO.... Yeah; not the way you wanna come back to some elevators you hadn't visited since 5 years ago. I've honestly not been fond of the idea of returning, seeing as these elevators look very bogstandard inside, but some inner contacts have been pressuring me to and I just so happened to be in the area at a convenient time, so I figured I'd check these off my list of "backlog top-ups" lol. At present, these elevators sport native KONE exteriors (I'm told that the ground floor call button used to be KDS 50 once upon a time before it got changed out to KDS 300-AUS) but Everbright buttons & blue LCD inside. I don't think KONE have done the entire modernisation work; more likely, another company-I'm guessing AMPCO-stepped in first and modernised the inside, then KONE were called to do up at least the ground floor LOPs. Whatever it is, it's been done very cryptically, as I can't actually work out who the original manufacturer of these lifts could've been! The biggest hint to me is the door tracks, which look almost like a hybrid of SEMAG and FIAM with the thin-thick pattern. Neither are brands whose elevators I've seen exceed this rise, though, so I'm still confused. If anyone could pinpoint me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. The building dates back to the 1910's, but obviously the elevators cannot be from that time - best case scenario, there were three gated elevators here that got well replaced nearly half a decade ago. Betcha they didn't have to deal with any sort of stink in the lobby 110+ years ago....
