Ford's NEW CAR Just KILLED Dodge and Chevy!

- Ford has been on a roll lately getting rid of their cars in favor of pushing overpriced trucks and SUVs. However, Ford's CEO Jim Farley recently posted some news that Ford might just start making cars again. And apparently he's already shown it to dealers. But we actually don't have to wait for that car to come out. You see... there's currently another new car that ford just started selling, and its totally destroying Dodge and Chevy.
"We Will Continue to Make the V8's Mustang until they make it illegal" Love It
Too bad they're slowly ruining the V8 in the Mustang.
To bring the prices down, Dodge should make a V8 muscle car without all the unnecessary bells and whistles -- backup cameras, power seats, moon roofs, touch screens, power windows, adaptive cruise control, heated seats, blind spot monitoring, etc. A muscle car only needs a big V8, four tires and a comfortable driver's seat.
You can't remove a fair portion of the things in newer cars because of regulations/requirements. Creature comforts such as heated and automatic/motorized seats, power windows (I don't think there's a regulation requiring it, but I don't know for certain), etc., can be removed, but stuff like the backup camera is regulatory. Nevertheless, you know who still finds a way to keep their weight down? Lotus. 😎
@@solitivity Yes, I do recall reading that backup cameras are mandatory in new cars. (I never use mine. Just look out the rear window like I did in my older cars that didn't have cameras and sensors everywhere.) Still, new cars are bloated with frills that aren't necessary and inflate vehicle costs.
Ford isn’t killing crap selling a $52K car. It’s still too much money. That’s an $866 a month car payment at 60 months before tax and any interest. I’m not meaning to come across negative, but the only way I could afford that car is if I didn’t have rent to pay and I don’t think I’m the only one.
Dealer markups are ruining everything.
Don’t forget to blame the dealers for jacking prices through the roof. They are equally to blame as Tavares is. I wouldn’t consider buying any of these “Lot Rot” vehicles. And I do drive an older Dodge Charger. jmho
I am confused tho, even ford dealers do increase the price of the mustang why does this method only affect Dodge?
Ford should double down and drop the 7.3 V8 into the Mustang
The're ruining the 5.0 with changes they have been making. You/ll get free Ford branded crack pipes with your Mustang before you get one with a LS-knockoff 7.3.
The problem with the 392 challenger is that 392 denotes the average credit score of people who buys those cars. Buying used one's are usually trashed.
hahaha. Wicked burn.
That's the best observation ever. It's funny, because it's true. When they are in the finance office picking their payment date, they should also pick their repo date.
I hate this idea. What's next? A 4 door Camaro? A 4 door Corvette? Is Ford so lazy and uncreative that they cannot come up with a name for a sedan?
Totally have to agree with you. Just bring back a really good looking Taurus. Have a 5.0 V8 option.
LOL. 52 k for a 28K car.
I can't believe Stellantis got rid of the Charger! This was a moneymaker for Dodge. People loved it. Also, police departments all over North America use the Charger for it's size, speed, and power. Stellantis clearly doesn't know a profitable vehicle if it bit them in the ass.
Hey.....the grandson of Chrysler just tried that buddy.....they told him to Fu.. off😮
Which is reasonable, really ... they have slowly been buying Chrysler out since Chrysler went bankrupt in 2009.
The only reason Chrysler is still around, is because they paid for it.
@@Grumpy_old_BootThen they proceeded to personally kill it lol
Ford is only able to make V8 cars now because of the carbon credits they received from making the electric Lightnings and the Mach-e Dodge had to buy their carbon credits from Tesla. A year or two ago Stellantis said they would no longer buy these credits. In hindsight, they made the wrong decision.
Screens are, and have, going to age horribly. The video screen will get glitchy and cracked. The video screens of cars from 10 years ago look like shit now. Someone needs to go with all analog guages and controls with just a phone dock. People just need to dock their phones as its music and navigation. The car doesn't need to try to do that anymore.
Most of the screens in 10 year old vehicles I've been around still work fine. Not cracked or glitchy. wtf are you talking about lmao
When that digital gage cluster screen stops working, you can expect to pay a MASSIVE amount of $.
Also, the car will be basically useless w/o that digital gage cluster working because the lcd or led monitor has crapped out. They will eventually!
Ford seems plenty busy jacking up the prices of the total POS F150.
They should have called the Mustang Mach E the Galax E. I still think the Mustang is too expensive.
Son recently purchased a "3-pedal" GT. More power than he will ever need. A few, essential performance options. Very red. He's old enough to know to be careful until the tires are warm. He beat up the dealer a bit. 51K out the door.
MOST new cars and trucks are waaay overpriced. I don't think I'll spend anywhere near that much for one of them. Seriously, 50-plus thousand for a Mustang!!??
In 1994 I bought a Ford Aspire it was made by Kia I put 200k miles on it and was running strong when I sold it. Does not surprise me that they would be working with Kia in 2024 or copying them.
I agree with the screen. We are told to stay off the phone. Its the law. The screen is worst than the phone. Go back to knobs and levers.
Completely agree, muscle memory for operating the old style gauges was so much better than the distraction to find a touch point on a screen. I can’t stand the incorporation of touch screens in vehicles.
If the current charger and challenger were so great there wouldn't be tens of thousands of them sitting around on dealer lots unsold for months. It's just a horribly ancient design, badly assembled, engineered cheaply, sold to people with no taste
You must be joking 😅😅
@@rokusentertainment5787 i'm sorry reality bothers you. But reality doesn't care
Unreliable
I was going to comment also.. any dealer around here in NC has plenty of Chargers and Challengers.. some dealerships have gotten wise and cutting the prices to move 'em out!
The biggest gripe I have with them is that (especially in the south) *everybody and their mamma has a Charger* and the car has really only had exterior redesigns and minor interior redesigns. What hasn't been redesigned is the thought process behind using the cheapest materials they can find for the interior. 🤣
I wish ford would bring back a unique near full size all wheel drive supercharged LTD sedan & Coupe
Yesterday all Ford dealerships were shutting down according to this guy 😂
Don't bet on anything that is posted here. If Ford was just bought it could change.
The insurance is going to be high.
A muscle car must meet the 5 requirements to be considered a muscle car.
1.American Made.
2.V8 Engine
3.Rear-wheel drive.
4.Two-door body.
5. Can seat 4 passenger
IE Mustangs, camaros, chargers, novas, chevelle ect
So a Corvette has been and will allwas be a sports car not a muscle car.
Also an el camino is a truck!!!! :)
The new GT is $20-25k more than the 2014’s were new. The destination fee is 150%. People don’t realize how extreme the prices have risen.
With Fords quality problems, I would never own another one!! Just had to lay out $6,000 to replace an 2.0 ecoboost engine that died with only 65,000 miles on it!!
If Chevy blames the government and mandates then why do they still make the Corvette? My gripe about that Mustang is there is no stick shift I wouldn't buy it.
You can get a 6 speed manual if you want it.
Ford has been maneuvering the mustang to compete with BMW, Audi,MB, and even the corvette. My first new was the mustang Boss302 Laguna Seca. That car was designed specifically to beat the BMW M3. Since then the Boss302 LS gets blown away by modern GTs. I have been amazed by their performance benchmarks since 2013.
And yes I am a GT350R/GT500 snob as well.
I can't wait to see the new GTD in person... or drive it!
The 5.0 Mustang GT only became a very good car in 2018 and onwards. Before that it was just ho-hum.
@@John_Caravella I wouldn't quite say that, but I entirely understand where you're coming from. The S550 changed the damn game. It turned a straight line performer into a good sports car, even in the base models. That's what I feel has made the biggest impact to the Mustang's performance in recent years. Ford drops a new model year GT, then shortly afterwards they drop a special trim that has some new suspension, transmission, etc. (such as the Mach 1, GT350 and GT500), which said upgraded parts find their way into the standard base and GT models in succeeding model years.
@@John_Caravella The coyote 5.0 is the current and only 5.0 V8 available since 2011.
@@MotorFeed Now that’s a video I can’t wait to watch. The resale market on those cars will be a nightmare.
GM destroyed Swedish Saab and desintegrated Korean Daewoo. Corporations serve their shareholders and not our wants and desires, unfortunately. Stellantis, has also killed several of their local brands. Ford was destroying Mazda that was luckily bought back by Japanese Capitals. Same with Volvo, Ford was disintegrating it and the brand was bought back by Swedish Capital. Chrysler was destroying Lamborghini which was bought and then bought latest by Audi. Renault owns Nissan and there's lots of bad blood between the brands which hopefully one day separate again and restore Nissan's once 4x4 Greatness. More on GM: Isuzu, Suzuki, Opel? Need I go on?
The foreign owners are just ruining the dodge brand. They want everyone to have the Pull-Start version of it. My personal views.😊
I thought the car industry was going out off business. I mean the few last videos the industry was out of business.
It’s kinda like Scotty dying every other video
Look at Europe they really want to ban iCE. You have to buy 3 EV for 1 iCE hybrid.
That SCREEN on the Mustang SUCKS ASS Big Time. Hate it and all the sun glare. What a frigging Distracted Disaster waiting to happen.
The last ford i remember, that got my attention, built in 2002 Mercury Marauder
The c8 Corvette is NOT a muscle car.
Any automaker can make a V8. They just don’t get as many government tax credits. Props to Ford for sticking with their V8 heritage.
Wow Toyota has everything
The Tremec is only available on the Dark Horse! Also, the corvette is a 2 seater so it's considered a sports car not a muscle car. It's too bad the C8 can't produce a reliable transmission!
It's too bad Ford can't produce a reliable transmission! Chinese-made manuals with wimpy shift forks and cheap bearings, trash-tier 10R80. Maybe Ford should buy leftover ZF 8HP transmissions from Stellantis.
Sorry, I'll buy a Mazda made in Japan for a reasonable price. Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are all crap products.
Those fucking screens are a no starter for me. It looks like they tacked two android tablets up on the dash with a bracket. It is so stupid looking. If you have to have the dumb ass screen put it into a stylish dash like the 911. They did it right. Leave it to Porsche to make a car perfect.
100% agree with you on this!
No physical controls is a deal breaker, volume knob, temperature knob, a button you can feel before you activate it. If the hazard light switch is only onscreen, a really bad sign of distraction and trouble.
No more hemi, over priced trucks, challanger and charger soon going. I cant imagine dodge existing within the next 25 years if they keep this up
Think of Fiat as a Vega. Throw on some new sheet metal and try to sell it for $40k and call it a Dodge. Dah!!
The Focus?!?
No. The Fusion would be acceptable but even better would be the full-sized Taurus or LTD. Maybe go really Old School and bring back the Galaxie.
Whatever name Ford goes with, it better be a proper sedan and not a midget sedan.
No more Camaro? As stupid as going for EVs when hybrids make way more sense.
They should bring back the taurus or the fusion A fusion sho wouldve been cool
I want to gladiator badged as a power wagon, with a V8.
That would be epic.
the only new ford car ive seen being talked about is the all electric capri. good luck selling that ford. its like they are trying to go broke.
I tip my hat to Ford keeping a V8 and manual transmission, still not a fan of the Mustang except 64 1/2 to 70 ...and of course the fox body. I think the lack of manual transmissions is sports cars is far more upsetting. If the C8 came in manual I'd have one.
The chinese-made manuals Ford has been using leave a lot to desire. Just a few years ago guys were snapping shift forks in Mustangs like crazy.
Nothing beats the driving experience of a Sedan. SUVs and Pickup Trucks simply are not made for people who are passionate about driving. Also the profit margins on a Sedan are war moar larger than will ever be true of a truck or SUV for the simple reason far more economical use of material and almost always rear wheel drive. I have no doubt wherever Dodge, Chrysler, Buick, Chevrolet even long gone Pontiac and so many more Badges both here in the USA and the UK will be bringing back Sedans. The problem is not with Detroit but with China which has gone absolutely bonkers for cars the last 20 Years or so. Even Europe now some of these prices for Sedans are all become so low even this very expensive Mustang will need to hustle that muscle to compete. People not liking prices here are very much spot on to not like this! The fact remains the US Government keeps the Chinese Badges out because there is no way Detroit can compete with that at any level. This obviously isn't true of Japanese Brands or Korean Brands or German Badges with some exotics thrown in which have moar made in the USA than near any Detroit product does. As Europe is consumed with War and Asia consumed with a trade War or worse even in full size trucks and SUVs brutal to compete in that even with Government and UAW assistance. Still Ford, Jeep, Dodge, Lincoln, GM, Chevrolet, Buick and even Chrysler still has a something in the Pacifica not just showing up Ford in particular playing to win in every market segment save one namely first time buyers. Everyone I knew grew up with a foreign badge as their first car usually Toyota or Volkswagen but also Nissan, Subaru, Hyundai Kia maybe an Audi and once you become familiar with that preferences change. *"Insurgents"* are just going to do everything a little bit better. In many ways it's a miracle Detroit survived the 1990s although they had great Sedans back then. One reason Ford chassis' are so good is because the Ford Explorer nearly bankrupted Ford back then it was that bad as a 2 Door. Those vehicles compared to today are total junk I know I had two F-150s both super strong V8s great everything worked hard did their basic functioning but at the end of the day were Trucks. Dove into every corner, took forever for the brakes to work, had so much steel felt like driving an actual billet of metal actually. Ford got lucky with the Maverick. This happens sometimes just one vehicle kills it and that carries the entire Stable with it so expect Ford to stay strong in the Years to come because of the diminutive offering. Make no mistake the Ford Maverick is a truck that drives like a Car and that's why people can't get enough of that machine. And it happens to be a truck. No one has even come close to getting lucky like that although Tesla was made as a stunning business success with the Model S. "meant to kill BMW took out Honda and Toyota instead." That made in the USA Sedan along with the Tesla Model 3 nearly took out the entire Sedan Market in North America actually. Tesla really has changed the game actually. Fit and finish is on a whole nother level with 2020 vehicles and beyond. Tesla did give the automotive World The Screen for better or worse as well, absolutely. These big V8s aren't going anywhere tho. Everyone talking up the twin turbo V6 is about to get schooled big time by BMW which absolutely owns the twin turbo V6 product going on decades now. Japan has gone back to 4 bangers in a really crazy way actually so that one will be something to watch. Europe is bring back V12s actually. Want a great drive take a Dodge V10 Viper out for a drive but yes once the 2025 Model Year finally settles here the disaster at Toyota is what is bringing Detroit back big time. The Rav4 is totally dated I agree not much wow factor in the BRZ...worst Year ever for Toyota 2024. This of course is leading to more attempts at price gouging rather than trying to generate sales but it's been ohhhh about 50 Years since Detroit had some bragging rights with a specific product which would be the Chevy Caprice easily the best Sedan ever made. If Detroit learns the lessons from that single Model they will be thriving for decades to come as battery electric excepting Tesla will forever remain a niche product in the USA in the World of Sedans. Not so full size pickup trucks tho. Talk about a throwdown what's going on with full size trucks right now is going to blow people away starting with #irony Dodge RHO a no compromise ICE platform. Make no mistake though full size battery electric trucks from Ford, Rivian, Tesla, Chevrolet and soon Dodge are going to blow people away with fit and. finish. Rumor is Caterpillar and John Deere want to start producing full size trucks now too without all this electric gibberish but go totally as old school as possible for real farm ranch and mining trucks so yes pretty to be amazed apparently 😊
Stop the ev mandate than
Elon should buy Dodge, and make them all self-driving-capable, but as 'basic' as possible, but with as few techie gizmos as possible.
Mustang had the archaic 1950s solid rear axle until the new Camaro came out with IRS. The lowly Explorer got IRS in early 2000's and the T-Bird got it in 1989.
Stellantis is looking for new ceo. Carlos Tavares will soon be gone.
Legacy auto is tired of buying carbon credits from Tesla who use the cash to bury them.
Hate the screens!
Excellent review on the mustang. Thanks.
Love the Mustang hate the stupid video screen. So ugly!
Dodge killed itself by catering to the non paying customer and eating the losses thru its financial side. So they wernt making money which ment no money being spent in development.
If you goto a ford dealership on a big holiday you will find a better grade of customer than Nissan. Kia. Hyundai. Or any Chrysler brand.
Shoulda kept that Focus ST. I had one for a couple of years, it was damn nice for the price.
I think moving the engine in the Corvette would be like moving the engine in a 911. It ain’t right. It’s not a muscle car anymore in my opinion
A four door Mustang makes as much sense as the Mustamg Mach E. Have these people at Ford not learned anything? They can miss me with anything bearing the Mustang name with four doors. Call it something else. Revive the Fairlane badge, or the LTD badge. Hell, revive the Pinto badge and call it the new Pinto GT for all I care, just don't call it a Mustang.
Killing the challenger and charger was a huge foul.
Ford forgot that the f150 owners like to work on them. With the motors being dam( expensive tools)complicated and excess pricing ..we are passing on the new crap and keeping our old trucks.Less expensive to fix my body.
A four door mustang is a crap idea. Bring back the Vickie, make it v8 rwd, and watch it sell like hotcakes.
I can see it now: the 4 door sports car. Oh, wait, didn't Nissan make that all the way back in the 80's w/ the Maxima?
Getting rid of the Ford Mustang would be like getting rid of the Corvette for chevy and GM is talking about bringing back the Pontia Trans am And one of the nephews of the Dodge brothers is talking about buying Dodge And what is GM gonna use for NASCAR a car that they don't build And really the only reason why Chevy and Ford still can build the V8 is because they were pushing the EV And GM just spent almost a billion dollars on a new small block GM is not getting rid of the V8
I agree with 💯 about the digital cluster.
If everything is iconic, isn’t everything just normal?
So General Motors wants you to buy a Corvette not a Camaro, say it ain't so Joe.
8 minutes and 15 seconds before you got to the point of your heading: "Ford's NEW CAR Just KILLED Dodge and Chevy!" What a time-waster. Thanks for nothing.
He needs to get a life and stop whining.
With the end of 4 door chargers ford will sell a boatload of them to police departments across the US
I can see Arkansas state patrol ordering hundreds of them
The jump cuts are seizure inducing. Epileptic warning.
Would you rather hear my awkward asthmatic breathing in between? Lol.
Ford should use another legacy name for their 4 door. Like Fairlane, Galaxy, Falcon, LTD, Crown Vic, Taurus, or even Thunderbird. Rename the Mustang EV Thunderbolt.
The Challenger is a good looking car, but the Charger just looks like a car a mid level salesman wiuld drive ... boring.
Yes I love you call it. The KIA-fication of cars nowadays. I understand there’s a lot of people out there who like that particular kind of style but the big 3 shouldn’t let that dictate their bread and butter vehicles. They’re alienating their customer base.
How about making a good economy car. 9/10 best selling cars on the road are Toyota's. Now they're being marked up because they have no competition.
Toyota has lost their reputation for reliability recently with the new tundras engine failures, the corolla GR having engine problems and recalls and the new 4th gen tacomas breaking like toy trucks. They used to be the most reliable but they have taken a few pages out of the GM, chrysler, ford playbooks for quality.
Why do people rev brand new cars, know knowledge of new car engines apparently.
I for one will never buy a DODGE or Chrysler EV offering. Will be keeping my HEMI 300S till the wheels drop off! That said I like the Stangs but that digital cluster is a disaster waiting to happen and it will look like crap in 10-13 years if not sooner. Stick to Analog gauges man. Old school is best long term when you like to keep your cars. That’s my .02 cents!
I’m old. Just bring back the 2 door sedans that are reliable.
I should call the four-door Mustang of Torino
Have you ever driven Camaro. visibility is poor.. You can't even see some stoplights if you're at the line.
The visibility out of the rear was the actual problem. The biggest issue was the ugly interior styling and the mid-cycle refresh that ruined the front end styling. The 6th gen Camaro began to fall short of sales targets because the cost to get a V8 Camaro was thousands more than the cheapest Mustang and Challenger V8 options. The visibility only made things worse. Which was stupid because GM certainly knew that owners had already complained about poor visibility in the previous car. Some 80IQ overpaid executive then decided that what the 6th gen needed was an updated exterior that was much much much uglier but looked more like the ugly Rumblebee car in the latest Transformers movie. Somebody at GM admitted the updated front end was hideous when they decided that the ZL1 would not get an uglified front end but instead retain the original front end that looked good. The 6th gen had a lot going for it in terms of handling and speed, but was held back by poor visibility which made it difficult to use as a daily driver and the interior design looked awful day 1.
I totally agree with you about the dash !!!
Plus, they’ve priced everything through the roof🇨🇦
Beating a dead horse, Stellantis being a European company is dealing with the EV revolution in Europe. They've been buying regulatory emissions credits from Tesla, which was a help in not paying big fines. Now they've decided to go the way of EV, kind of put their money where there mouth is.
The new Saleen mustang updated the dash screens with a cover that looks ten times better and I am sure Ford will adopt the same look or something similar soon.
Fords 5.0 coyote is an awesome platform have one in my 2016 F150. I love it.. efficient, reliable and powerful.
That hideous dash would stop me from buying one. I'm still thrilled with my 2014 Mustang GT convertible. We had it painted Fighter Jet Gray and it looks sweet.
Incorrect on the manuals, you only get the tremec with the dark horse. All the mustangs still use the lackluster MT82, which hates being rushed and has much less robust internals
Well... poop.
Ford did trademark the "Thunderbird" name about 3 years ago.
I found the amount of fake chrome in the new mustang to be a bit gaudy.
Was considering a mustang for my next car, issue is getting any creature comforts and decent performance upgrades (active exhaust, performance package, magnaride) you end up creeping well past 60k. At that point why not get a Dark Horse? Ford is smart, they know their competition is dwindling in this space.
Looking at the mid cycle refresh Explorer ST now!
My 2023 Model Y (AWD) was $40K OTD after $10.5K in gov't rebates. About as fast as the blue Camaro LOL, plus I can drive ~300 miles for free thanks to home charging (from solar)
It would be awesome if the four-door Mustang had the V8 and manual. Wow!
charger interior is terrible
The orange Charger reminds me of a DreamSicle.
slightly less crap then Chevy and Dodge
Crying over american brands disappearing and pointing the finger at foreign companies is so backwards. No one, but these companies themselves did it to themselves. Chrysler as a company has been in constant trouble for a half a century soon. That's why they had to join forces with Mercedes via the Daimler group, and the Germans just gave up as the Chrysler side of the business just refused to improve. Then Fiat came in via Stellantis and the saga continues. If Chrysler mage good quality cars then people would have bought them and they'd never been sold. The same goes for Ford and GM both keep drooling at the next quarters results rather than building long term relationships and quality. Consumers will keep buying more and more Toyotas etc. because at the end of the day, cars are expensive, and you buy one that'll last.
TREMEC IS ONLY IN THE DARK HORSE!
