How to install the Hunter NPC in GMod 13

- After searching endlessly on how to install the Hunter in GMOD 13, I finally came across a comment which suggested changing the settings when loading GMOD 13. So I experimented today with the "settings" shown at bottom right of this video and found this "screen" or window and after clicking on a small icon, it allows you to check (or uncheck) installed games, such as Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode One, Half Life 2: Episode Two. Make sure you check Half Life 2: Episode Two and when loading a map, when checking your Combine NPCs, the Hunter will be there....

And if u dont have that Checkbox unlocked, just download the Content Pack of Ep2 crack and add it to addons or Buy Ep2
@sad bro just install the content and add it to gmods files its so simple, you can find the files with "browse local files" on steam
@sad yes you have to spawn them in console, if you want a shortcut and use it on the spawn menu, buy the damn game its only 3 dollars
I think I might make a Hunter NPC which doesn't require any content. It will contain content such as sounds, models and materials.

I had a problem with Alyx's voice not being heard in Half Life 2: Episode 2; so I opted into Beta participation in the Steam menu and the problem was solved starting a new game. But that is just me; others said to try opting out. Either or I suppose. Even after opting in beta participation, it fixed the Hunter issue I mentioned below for me as well (after checking the box in the this video).

lol i dont own hl2 ep 2 but i do have the textures models sounds and those other things any way to mount them without owning them?
damn, four years ago.. Well here is a response to an age old question quite literally. There isn't, the assets used for the NPC is in that game. More importantly the behavior of the NPC because it appears in episode one but only in a cutscene, so unfortunately you need a wallet in order to get that NPC.

@Gunoftruth I mean install the hunter (npc) by installing hl2: episode 2 and then following this video for the hunter npc to work in GMOD 13.

i obtained the zombine npc without owning episode 1,instead i got its textures and animations from cscheater,then i downloaded an addon from the workshop called "NPC groups" which added "zombine strays" now i can spawn funtional zombine

Same issue with me, I often have to load Half Life 2: Episode 2 in the Steam Library of owned games, pressing "play" and then it installs some kind of data, then when I play Gmod and click on the Hunter, it spawns a Hunter no problem.

Today I tested spawning the Hunter with Half-Life 2: Episode One *unchecked* and it still worked. You need Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode Two *checked*. However, when I *uncheck* Half-Life 2: Episode Two and leave Half-Life 2 *checked*, the Hunter DOES NOT appear in the Combine menu. The Hunter is merely seen in Half-Life 2: Episode One, but it is *encountered* in Half-Life 2: Episode Two. half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Hunter
A SR i̶o̶u̶S Game you dont need half life 2 to have hunter,if you have half life 2 episode 1 you will have mini strider but in order to get hunters you need only hl2 episode two nothing else

Guys, there's a site called CScheater. You can download the content of the Valve games there: TF2, HL2, Portal / 2. And others
it doesnt add the npcs it has the content and the spawn lists for the props but no actual npcs and stuff

no, i think only hl2: episode 2 needs to be installed, checked off like shown in this video, and kept up to date with steam updates.
This also gets u zombine and hunter and antilion queen and baby antilion
me watching tutorials on copying and pasting files in addons and it was as simple as doing that

this vid is outdated i know, but i have half life 2 and the two other episodes installed and checkmarked. but i can't spawn the hunter, it's in the spawn menu but when i spawn it ingame its invisible.
Your computer may not be able to support it :/ go to the console and type Npc_create Npc_hunter if it comes up as an error or missing textures you may have to do it manually by moving the textures from HL2 to Gmod
how do I get half-life source on to my gmod the only thing that I have on it is a minus on the profile. Can you help me

Only episode 2 is required for the hunter but it's still reccomended you mount the other games so you get more stuff.

It means you don't own said game (Half Life Episode 1 for example)

Drag HL2 Episode 2 folder in Gmod folder and when you start gmod you will see LEFT DOWN IN CORNER go to Joystick sign,then find Half life 2 episode 2 click it and start game and find hunter in NPC>Combine

@@qSeverity Yeah. And why do the point NPCs (E.G. APC, Floor Turret) have to not be on the spawn menu? At least just make them spawnable only by the tool gun!
Edit: I just got the Orange Box, so I now have access to all the episodic NPCs!

Why do i get error icons when spawning a hunter,zombine or a couple of other npc's i get the red big error thingy and with my tf2 ragdolls i cant spawn them i keep clicking on them they not appear
