This race is not to be confused with Masterkova's 1500m win at Atlanta Games, 1996, 4:00:84. This race is in fact the mile (1609.32m - IAAF) and I believe the current world record again by Masterkova. She won this mile race 11 days after 1996 games and Jamal has come closest with 4:17.
It's 109 metres!!!!!! 3 *56 / at 1500 metres means she was speeding (literally) up covering the last lap under 60 seconds and the last 100 under 15 seconds this record is gonna be around for a very long time!!!!!!!
I've just noticed, Paula Radcliffe was in this race and finished in about 4:24 - 4:25. So there were TWO future world record holders in at the start of this race!
